Good for a tablet, but over-priced
Lets get one thing out of the way to start with - this is a tablet, nothing more, nothing less. If you believe that you can replace your desktop computer with a Microsoft Surface, you are wrong. If you believe that you can replace your laptop with a Microsoft Surface, you might possibly be right, but you are probably wrong.
Computers and even laptops can be used for computing - office / excel / word / emails / powerpoint etc. Tablets are good for 'apps' - I liken them to a large mobile phone. They can be used for websites - Facebook / Instagra...Read more
m / Twitter / Netflix etc. Computers are tools, tablets are toys. Now that I've made that distinction, I can start the review. The competitors for the Microsoft Surface Go are the other popular tablets (Samsung / Lenovo / Asus etc), and the features / resolution / RAM / processor / size / battery life / weight are all comparable between all the brands. What is out of the ordinary is the cost of the Surface Go - almost double the average, and $100 more than the most powerful of the Samsung Galaxy Tablets on the market. That's before you get the add-ons, a touch pen will cost you, a keyboard will cost you (a lot). As a stand-alone device, it is quite competent - powerful / reliable / light / great quality - just like all of its competitors. I don't know how Microsoft can justify the cost, nor do I know what sort of consumer would purchase it - $1000ish for a device to scroll through Facebook, watch Netflix in bed, time wasting staring at a screen? It boggles the mind. If you want a tool to do a job, get a computer. If you want a toy to play with, get a tablet. The Surface Go does a good job as a tablet, just don't try to pretend that it is a computer.Purchased in May 2021 at Harvey Norman for $698.00.

Handy but not reliable
I purchased the Microsoft Surface Go to assist with assessments on the go. Whilst it is definitely more user friendly than a basic tablet it is not without its glitches. The accessories are not cheap and I found I resort to using the PC for assessments (not so convenient) and leave the Microsoft Surface Go to watch Netflix when I am out of town and can access wi-fi.
It is light and you can google quickly on it but I would not ever see it as a replacement to a PC or Laptop.

So far so good
I am a medical student and using this for note-taking capability on the go. It is a nice size for on the go and is capable to do basic email, one-note, office, etc. The app installation is however limited in S mode as I can't install EndNote.
Purchased in March 2021 at Microsoft Store Westfield Sydney for $728.00.

Absolutely Brilliant !
This tablet is great for my genealogy studies. Light, compact, fast and responsive.
I have the keyboard and surface pen which makes things easier to navigate around the screen.
It is a low end laptop / high end tablet.

Great Little Machine
Bought this as a supplemental machine, primarily for note taking
Was more than a little alarmed to find I couldn't install software, only from the windows store, but then after a little searching, found that you could 'unlock' it to make it a proper fully fledged windows machine and install regular programs, browsers etc.
The touch screen is responsive and beautiful to write on and the keyboard, considering its size, is surprisingly good to type on, after you adapt to the smaller size. the kickstand is an awesome feature as you don't need to ...Read more
buy another cover, although the keyboard is an extra purchase, which makes it a bit more expensive, and pretty essential to get the most out of the machine. While it isn't a powerhouse machine and there is noticeable lag when trying to do too many things at once, it does just fine for and on the go machine. Very pleased with it. The size makes it easy to transport and the battery is reasonably good - although nothing close to their 'benchmark' claims. As a primary computer, would be a frustrating experience, but as a travel machine, is absolutely perfect. Is great to that it is compatible with all the accessories of its big brothers.Purchased in June 2021 at JB Hi-Fi for $629.10.

Perfect Combination for Laptop/Tablet
I bought this so I could work during my travels and have since been very happy about the product. Not only you can use it as a tablet but also the fitting the detachable keyboard makes it perfect as a laptop. I normally use this for my Excel based spreadsheet works and word documents but also use a lot of general internet browsing. Never lags and works smooth. And facial recognition feature keeps my login info safe as well.

Great bit of tech
Ideal portable device, take it anywhere. No bigger/heavier than my old Samsung 10" tablet but way more versatile with Windows 10 Home. It's a PC during the day, movie / tv shows / browsing / email etc at night. Very well engineered, durable. Battery life does let it down (not good at all), so need to run it in Battery Saver mode most of the time unless doing serious work and a Powerbank is just about compulsory if out & about. Screen is small so everything of course is compact but touchscreen zooming helps. Great keyboard & quality touchpad. Ke...Read more
yboard puts it to sleep but does not wake it, need to use ON button. Not cheap but you get your money's worth. A unique Microsoft product that beats the competition hands down IMO. Next version needs better processor and bigger battery.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
