Blizzard CX1

Has anyone else had trouble with the cord not retracting? I have had my Miele CX 1 for less than a year and I am over the cord never retracting properly. I have to pull it out, press the button again over and over! Grrr. This should happen with a vacuum cleaner that cost a lot and less than a year old. Am I alone in this problem?

Can someone say if the design goal of being able to empty the vacuum without the clouds of dust actually works?

Also has anyone had problems with dust leaking out into the body behind the main dust cannister?

Thanks
Jonathan.

These vacum cleaners are rubbish and spare parts come from another supplier.
Not Miele.
Would never buy anything of this brand!!

Hi Joel, thanks but I don't have a CX1. I'm trying to decide if the CX1 is right for me. I'm a long time bagless user having a Dyson DC02 that's over 15 years old and still going strong, but I've become more concerned about dust exposure which is definitely a part of the Dyson experience.
I've seen some reviews where people complain about dust leaks - which is something that seems to be a failure in relation to HEPA status, as well as the design goals of minimizing/removing exposure to fine dust.

I bought my first Miele in Nov/Dec 2022 and it worked brilliantly. A month in I was losing suction and the roller barely spinning. Suction from the machine seemed ok but the roller. I longer spinning. I had trouble shooted as well as regularly cleaned the filter. Due to not having a rep close by I was told to take the unit back to place of purchase and they exchanged it in early January 2020. Now, 8 weeks later I have the same problem except the roller is also stiffer and nit moving. I’ve been a Dyson owner for 25 years and not happy with the lady dries of their animal ball and initially felt the Miele was my savior. I’m very disappointed and not sure what else to do.

My Miele Blizzard CX1 now clogs almost immediately around the filter and cannot be used effectively. I brought this unit less than a year ago, and live remotely. Is there a reason why? and is there anything I can do, rather than pack it off to the nearest major centre for repair..?

I just came from the Miele service centre, they were amazingly helpful. (my cord retractor needed replacing) If you can bear being on hold ask to be put through to the service centre to a technician. He did explain to remove the big cylinder grey canister filter (see when you remove the main canister) and wash in water every few months, just checking you have done this?

The brush head is blocked but not the rollers. Is there a way I can open the brush head? Perhaps unscrew it and put it back together again?

The BLIZZARD CX1 keeps switching to comfort. It has become completely unusable. It happens continuously and the filter is not at all clogged. Any help?

Hi Anthoin,
You will need to follow the steps below, as there is more than one filter in this unit. This information comes directly from the operations manual.
1. The dust container is full - empty the dust container
2. The pre-filter is dirty. Clean the pre-filter (see 'Fault resolution' - 'Cleaning the pre-filter' in the operations manual).
3. The fine dust filter is dirty - Clean the fine dust filter at the next available opportunity (see 'Fault resolution' - 'Cleaning the fine dust filer manually' in the operations manual).
If you do still have any issues please don’t hesitate to call us on 1300 464 353 (please be aware these contact methods are for Australia only).
Kind regards,
Anna.

Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog (SKCR3)

I'm finding the brush roller becomes clogged with dog hair within 10 minutes of cleaning it. (The dog is an Australian Shepherd https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/425801339760976683/?lp=true) Cleaning it involves cutting the fur carefully with scissors - so as not to cut the bristles of the brush - then pulling the fur out. This alone takes nearly five minutes. Is there an easier way of cleaning the brush?

It's a pig to clean. You could easily take the back off of the turbo brush on my old Dyson, this one is screwed down with no access.

Sorry I dont have a dog or cat, brought it for the power, has to be strong for animal hair, it reminds me I had a kambrook vaccum, my dyed blonde would be all wrapped round the mech in the brush, I loved it so I just put up with it, this one doesnt do that with my dyed loose hair, I bet you are dissapointed, I would feel meile dropped the ball there, as kylie said her old dyson take the back off, but with this, no u cant acess it at, I have just looked at my cleaning head, no, this is feeble but all I can suggest is trying to get a refund, as it definitely is not suitable, and considering how much u paid, wow, it is an expensive machine that involes a lot of hard work for the owner, if it wasnt a dog and car vaccum, and this happen sure, they would say well it is not made of animal fur.
U have brought it in good faith dog and cat vaccum, no I be really angry. I think u have a case and u obviously havent had the vaccum very long it is just not suitable for animal fur

Thanks Rosie. Fortunately it's not my vacuum but belongs to one of my client's who I clean for. His sister bought the vacuum but was so disappointed because of the roller brush getting clogged quickly and being difficult to remove the fur, that she gave the vacuum to my client. It's a fabulous vacuum cleaner except for the clogged roller brush. I think Miele make the best vacuum cleaners as a rule.

Has anyone else had luck in sourcing a longer hose for this model? Miele have not been helpful at all when I rang and the shortness of the house really annoys me.

Hi there, thanks for your question. A part of the Miele accessories range is a hose extension which adds an extra 1.5m of cleaning reach (not compatible with PowerBrush vacuum cleaner models). The model number is SFS 10, and retails at $54.90. This can be purchased online, or in your nearest Miele Experience Centre. Kind regards, Miele.

Thank you for responding, I have purchased this hose extension and had to return it as it is not compatible with the Blizzard models. There must be another hose which is compatible?
