If asx 2012 model have timing belt?
1 answer
If you've got the 4B11 motor 2.0lt, timing chain. I think most of the engines in the range have timing chains from 2010 onwards.

Hi. I have a rattle in my ASX. Seems to be coming from the back. Is really noisy when I hit the high speeds on the highway. Any idea. I've had mechanics look at it. No luck. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
1 answer
Not possibly the exhaust vibrating at certain revs and knocking on chassis or other underbody parts. Maybe rev car slowly up in neutral till you get to highway revs and see if someone at rear of car can locate the rattle.

Does my 2012 asx have a timing belt?

The service manual refers to a belt for some engine models. Find out your engine model and refer to the service manual. Also see below.

When does my timing chain for my Mitsubishi asx 2012 model need to be replaced?
4 answers
Timing chain should last the life of the vehicle. No need to change it.
Some are every 5 yrs or 100,000 kms or not at all for the ASX. You need to know your engine type. Look for a rectangular silver plate attached to one of the side walls in the engine compartment. There will be two. One with the engine type, transmission type, colour paint code. The other will be another which will have the Vehicles Vin number. Then refer to the service/ warranty manual that came with the car that will also differentiate between 2WD/4WD, diesel or petrol. If you need an idea of the cost Lubemobiles website will give you an instant quote online without all the BS that oftens with trying to get a simple quote. You can just have the belt changed but if you are going to keep the car everyone will agree its best to have the full kit job i.e water pump, pulleys, thermostat etc
for ASX 4A92 gasoline engine, when is time to change the timing chain? my car have 207000 km already

Looking at a Mitsubishi asx aspire diesel 2011
It has 250000ks on the clock it drives quite nice
Just wondering how much longer it has in it?
1 answer
Hi Jacob. That is a lot of kms for it's age. You would need to have it checked out by a mechanic you trust. A diesel engine with that amount of kms on it would concern me. Hope this helps. Kingo.

How to fix my asx 2012 it have A/T noise after warm up and noise when pressing accelerator please help?
2 answers
Pretty hard to even guess an answer on this.
What sort of noise is it, and from where does it come from?
Only guess I could make would be, that it could be a slipping fan belt.c
Sorry that's the best I can offer for now.
First thing is to always check the fluid level and when was the last time the transmission fluid was changed.

HI
How much km when replace belt timing?
3 answers
This car does not use a timing belt, it uses a timing chain. There fore it will last longer. Most timing chains dont really need to be changed but to be safe I would say after 200,000km.
The later 2012 model are changed every 5 yrs or 100,000km.

My car wont start after I started it and moved it a few feet up the driveway and turned off within a few seconds. When I came back to it a few hours later it wont start.
All lights come on and the engine hums but wont turn over.
I heard there was a weird thing that prevented re start if the car was driven only a couple of meters and stopped.. like a safety feature or anti theft etc
Anyone experienced this?
1 answer
Hi Lisa,
You have to make sure you have the clutch in when start it other wise it will not start. It is a safety thing.
Hope this helps.

Hi
I am looking to buy an aspire 2010 with 150000km
Is this going to be breaking down now or do you think it has a longer life still?
Please help me
CK
1 answer
Hi Chris. If the car is a manual gearbox, I would expect it's life a good bit longer, auto and would not touch it by the feel of ASX auto. Poor performance boxes the autos. Ensure the service history is up to date and complete. Use your judgement on the general condition of the car and you may be surprised. Regards, Lou

I own a 2012 ASX. I have had so many problems with the bluetooth & reverse camera. Has anyone else had issues with their mobiles & the bluetooth? I have been told that my new Sony XA has old sodtware???
4 answers
Hi KazR - my ASX has given me zero problems in both these areas. I thought I was having problems with my Bluetooth but that has sorted itself out. I think what may have been happening was I had my mobile data turned off, on my phone. Someone else may be able to state categorically whether mobile data needs to be turned on to pair with the car . (I have recently got into the habit of turning this off to prevent pages/tabs/aps running in the background and using up my data allowance..) I have no idea what sort of phone a Sony XA is, but are your settings correct on your phone and is your phone paired with your car? The answer button on the Bluetooth gadget on your windscreen may be a weak link, too. This button may not be too durable, if you are answering many calls in your car - perhaps your dealer would check that out for you?? I would have thought that Bluetooth was its own software: it's just a means of your phone being able to be 'found' by your car. Not very helpful, sorry, but it's all I can think of.
I have never had any problems with blue toothtooth or camera on my 2016 model

I have a touch screen stereo/maps/radio in a 2010 asx. The battery went flat and was disconnected and now nothing works. It asks for maps to be loaded can play a cd but you cannot eject it and that's about it. Took it to dealership and they think it may need anew stereo???
Any ideas?
1 answer
Sorry, Jojo. Unable to help. I'm pretty useless when it comes to electronics, in fact I got another phone as my old one couldn't do the job. When I placed the simcard of old phone into new phone I now have no blue tooth connectivity, so have to go back to the instruction manual and try to nut out what needs to be done to be re-connected. Now if you had a general mechanical or performance type of query about your ASX I may be able to assist, but electronics... no.
Suggest you contact Paul Gover or one of the team at the Herald Sun and see if they have any ideas. They seem to have direct phone lines to people in "high places" who may well provide the answer you require. Best of luck. Fish Finger

I am looking at buying a second hand Mitsubishi ASX 2010 model. It is a 4 cylinder 2wd petrol with approximately 145000 on the clock. I have heard good and bad reports about CVT'S. Has anyone had to get their CVT replaced due to a failure to this system for this particular model? Has anyone had a leak in this part of the car that has lead to major problems requiring the CVT to be replaced? My daughter who worked in car hire told me that all of these models were sold off from the fleet but was not sure if this was a contributing factor nor the year of the cars sold. I have test driven the car mentioned above twice and found reverse was requiring quite a lot of acceleration to make the vehicle move. Is this a common problem or just a CVT quirk? Otherwise, I found the car to be very smooth and quite zippy with driving on the fwy. Also stop start seemed to be good? Need to know urgently as I can't afford to waste money and need answers before commiting to a sale. Thanks.

I've had mine for 14 months and no issues with the CVT. If you can try to get one under warranty
Hi Telika,
Thx for advice. Is your model ASX the same vintage as my first question being 2010??? When does the warranty expire exactly? Have you experienced a problem with reversing with the CVT?
Thx.
Mia.
The warranty would be out on any 2010 model as they are a 5 year warranty, the used car warranties offered these days aren't worth the paper they're written on as they are very specific to exactly what will and won't be covered so be careful if a yard tries to up sell you one and read it carefully.

I just recently bought a second hand Mitsubishi ASX 2012 Aspire 4WD but can't download phonebook from my iPhone (it disconnected itself) Anyone knows how to fix it? Any update version for MMCS! Thinking to buy aftermarket Daytime Running Light to install? Has anyone installed before? Is it worth to buy bonnet protector to avoid chip rocks and bugs?
1 answer
Ken, I recently fitted a rock/bug deflector to my 2013 ASX Diesel as I had noticed a lot of bug splatter on the windscreen. After fitting I still had some bug splatter but not as bad so for about $70 I consider it a worthwhile addition. Rob B
