Love it 4 years on
This car is lovely to drive. We have had it for four years with no issues. We may upgrade eventually as we now have two children so it's borderline too small but would highly recommend it for singles, couples or small families. Running costs are reasonable and it has been very reliable.

Love It
Very comfortable and fuel economic. Love the cruise control as it's easy to use. Not the best material in the armrests - gets dirty easily but isn't hard to clean. Great on dirt and highways but also around town. Having the mirrors fold in makes it a lot easier to get through the garage door.

Great all road car in 4wd form.
I have an XB diesel 4wd. At the discounted price I purchased (and good deals still available), a fantastic buy.
Copes with just about any road, great on dirt roads and OK ground clearance. The diesel engine is powerful but a little noisier than some competitors, especially when cold. The 6-speed hydraulic auto works well both in drive and when held in gears.
Very economical around town but fuel consumption can rise significantly at high speed and with aggressive driving. I average around 6.5L per 100km (compared to 10.5 in my previous Subar...Read more
u Forester). Lots of space inside considering the exterior dimensions. Interior works and the fabric upholstery looks good. Seats are quite comfortable despite the meagre padding. Lots of grey in the interior and not exciting or imaginative but has everything you need. Reasonable boot space with all seats up and great with rear seats down. After 3 years and 80,000 km, no service issues. Edit: Now after 5 years and 120,000 km, no issues or any non-standard repairs required. The metal work dents easily in the car park and the paint is easily scratched. I expect the same would apply to most Mitsubishi cars and is of only minor concern. Been great value for money and very reliable. Excellent for long-distance cruising and small enough to zip around town.
Purchased in April 2021.

Paint
Driving is quite good and performance is good when you put your foot down but economy suffers. Handling is quite good with a bit of body roll in corners, tyre noise at speed is a nuisance but tyres have almost 60k on them so I expect a bit more noise. Dashboard and legroom suit me as I am able to get the seat right back but have to lower it to do so which is a little bit of a trade off but this is helped by the adjustable steering column. Boot area is a bit smaller than my current needs but around town the vehicle size is good for parking. Pain...Read more
t is very very thin which is a disappointment as I have a lot of microchips in the paint work which will not polish out. Seats are a bit firm but are quite good on a 600k trip, I would prefer a bit more hold but it is acceptable. I have had several problems some which have been fixed (simple ones) but the transmission is still not right when it first starts up so I am hoping for a resolution at the next service. Yes I would consider another one but would like to see Australian testing to ensure the vehicle handles our conditions more quietly.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

ASX diesel three years on.
Three years old and couldn't be happier with it. Average 6.8 lp100 around town and between 8.5 and 11. Lp100100 towing a 1300 kg Jayco camper. Only car I've ever had where my back doesn't object to the seating. More than ample power, auto box is great, handles and stops very well, 4WD is great for a play 4WD/gravel roads, etc. Have had absolutely no problems and just replaced tyres at 45,000 klms. I'd buy another tomorrow, no on second thought I wouldn't part with this one. There are some negatives of course: no power socket in the...Read more
rear, tow ball tongue is set at a strange angle so a WDH can't be used. Can't think of anything else, a great car. This is the third Mitsubishi I've owned, two Lancers previously a few year ago, 2006 and 1995, models, both with similar stories. July 23rd 2017 Update: Final review after four years of ownership. This is my final review of the ASX diesel. Bought it new in 2013 and just traded it yesterday on a new Ford Escape diesel. The Ford has mighty big shoes to fill, if it's half as good as our ASX diesel it should be a good car. Mitsubishi have been great to deal with, we had two recalls, each time a loaner was offered. First recall was to replace a seal in the gearbox, the second recall was to replace the spring dampers on the rear tailgate. seems the paint was think enough and Mitsubishi said rust may be a problem. Mitsubishi certainly look after their customers. As well as general everyday use we also towed a Jayco Penguin camper, the ASX handled that chore with ease, returning excellent fuel consumption figure of between 8.5 and 11 LP100, depending on conditions. Around town we averaged 6.8 LP100. The vehicle was a delight to drive, the seats being firm and thus providing excellent support for a crook back. Can't say enough good things about this vehicle and we'll miss it. This was our third Mitsubishi having previously owned a 2003 Lancer wagon and a 1995 two door, all great vehicles. Top marks for Mitsubishi.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A very good vehicle easy to drive
Automatic gearbox holds on to a high gear for too long and produces a drone when you slow down and you have to kick the throttle to make it change i personally do NOT like doing this apart from this. The car is very good. I would love to change for a pajero.

I enjoy my SUV
PROS:
- Drives well
- Great ability to manage cruise control
- Suitable height to enter vehicle, and situated on-road height
- Great for legroom, as chairs are comfortable height both front and back
- Hatch space and rear seat flexibility are beneficial for storage options
- Value for money (great option for an entry level SUV)
- Bluetooth and connectivity
NEUTRAL: ...Read more
- Dashboard (not luxury, but satisfactory) - Fuel economy (reasonable) - Seat quality (base level is adequate, though unable to remove challenging stains) CONS: - Road noise with windows down (drumming) - Not the same luxury standard as other SUVs on the market - Interior roof (easily susceptible to scratches)Similar opinion? Great compact SUV
Bought this from a private seller with 30k+ on the ODO earlier this year and overall satisfied with the car.
Positives:
- Looks great from outside & inside
- Good handling and acceleration. It has power when needed (but I haven't tried it with heavy load yet)
- Great fuel economy
- Value for money
Negatives:
- Lots of blind spots on the sides and back. Can't do without the rear camera.
- Limited boot space with rear seats upright

In love with it
Bought our second-hand ASX in Dec last year and it's honestly the best car we've owned, love it! Sweet car to drive, great for long trips, roomy, excellent fuel consumption.
Some really nice accessories inside too, reverse camera and Bluetooth. Back seat has cute little cup holders for passengers. Great value for money!
I Can honestly say Mitsubishi have won me over with this beauty!!

Value for money and an excellent car
we purchased this car November 2014 and have been very pleased with our purchase . We can not believe the fuel economy compared to our RAV4 it has been cut by 50% . The room in the front is excellent and makes a very comfortable ride on long trips . We are very happy with our purchase 6 months on

Mitsubishi ASX Aspire
Love this car. Did a lot of research with all similar size SUV's and this is certainly value for money. Traded my mazda 3. Thought I would miss it but I don't. Good seating position as every man has a SUV in my town and was finding it hard in the traffic to see past them. Impressed with all the extras - heated seats, Bluetooth, steering controls, cruise control, leather seats and the list goes on. I like the interior finish. Easy to clean. Perfect or me.
All of the extras for the price

Love it...for the price!
So good priced. Love the size (much more boot space than similar SUVs), fuel economy (Desiel ASX Asprie) and comfort. However, driver can actually touch the heating pipes with our feet (gets VERY hot in Summer), finishes are lacking (can pull on all the wiring under the seat i.e. not covered up) and the "mood lights" are a complete waste!

Perfect for our needs
I have a 2013 ASX petrol sports model purchased new in Auckland now with 45000kms on the clock. Never had a problem. Comfortable car to drive around town and on long NZ open road trips. 7.8 litres best open road fuel economy. This is the second ASX I have owned and never had a problem with the first. For me ASX represented best value for money. Can recommend ASX

Never buying a Mitsubishi again.
Have a 2 year old ASX.
Problem 1 - The speedo under reads by 10%. 10 freaking %. When it indicates that you're doing 100 k's an hour on a freeway, you're actually doing 90. Holding up all the traffic. Do I do 110? I have no idea. Have no idea how fast we are going when it says 80.
Problem 2 - The stereo keeps setting its own time. Time is right when you get into the car, half an hour later it's an hour behind. Probably going out in sympathy with the speedo.
Problem 3 - Mitsubishi don't care. At all. Asked them at the last two services to f...Read more

2013 ASX ASPIRE
I wanted an asx for some time before I got one.i love the look of it.,I've had my asx for just over 12 months. It's a great car to drive around the city or town but I find it lacking abit on the highway when overtaking, I know it's only 4 cylinders. I love the leather seats though they get really hot in summer. I wouldn't recommend it for a family. It only fits 2 car seats with little room between. It's great to park and I love the reverse camera. The fuel economy is excellent ( I have a petrol model) and large mirrors eliminate the blind spot. I have recently had trouble with the Bluetooth when it comes to making calls but the dealership said it's because I have updated my phone and my Bluetooth module might need replacing.

If a small SUV is what you are after
I have test drove several SUV and this was one of those in my list. First impressions was the car looks strong and sturdy from exterior. Nice shape. Went it and I started to feel a bit cram for my liking as I am used to a Honda civic sedan the seating space. Felt a bit squeezed. The car drove well, but the boot space and the seats just made me wonder if this is just a small step up from my mitsubishi colt I had previously .
Features look great with USB Bluetooth media and cruise control. Comes with reverse camera and most of the basics. I decided not to buy it and looked at their outlander range instead and it looked bigger and better for my needs.
Exterior shape
Too small for my liking.

Faulty radio
Unfortunately the iPod does not work when verbally asking songs to be played. Where I brought the car very unhelpful and in fact unprepared to help me. Contacted mitsubishi via email (the only way you can contact) have taken between 4 to 6 weeks to reply. This has been going on since January this year and still not resolved. So the follow up service is very very poor. very happy with the rest of car the fuel economy is great. Love the size, interior except the vinyl smell when car is hot is awful.

ok, but just ok
its a bit tinny / cheap. there are classier options out there. look around for alternatives. hard plastics. nice size though. not too large. its priced a bit high too given alternatives. blind spot annoying. quite good on a highway. drives well when up and running. quite a small boot. rear leg room average, but easy for getting a but out of.

Pretty happy with this vehicle.
I purchased a 2012 ASX w 40,000 kms on the clock. Runs beautifully and has all the extras. Only complaints are the engine makes an unappealing vibrating noise when traveling at low speeds (dealership has told me this is a common complaint with yhe ASX and they are awaiting a fix from Mitsubishi) and one of the headrests really hinders vision of the blindspot on the passenger side of the vehicle. Also find it tricky to park, but that may be a driver fault!
Has all of the extras, beautiful to drive.

Mitsubishi ASX 2013 Aspire
I have had the petrol version of the car for about 9 months now and it's been a great experience so far. The car has all the bells and whistles that you would expect in a top notch car. The seating and the height is good. only down side it the low pick up, road and engine noise when compared to my Toyota 3L Camry. All in all a very satisfied owner. If the car had the power and silent engine I would have given it a 5 star.
Smooth ride, features like GPS, bluetooth, cruise control, all control on wheels, auto head lamps, wipers, folding side mirrors etc etc.
Engine noise and road noise, low pick up

Now have had it for about 18 months, completed 15,000 kms, Everything is fine, no problem at all. In fact the car seems to have got smoother now after the one year service. Because of the better seats at the front you don't feel tired on long drives.

Got a 2014 asx xls. Any way to check if it has an alarm ( apart from smashing the widows !!! )
3 answers
All models are different, check your owners manual, my model doesn't have an alarm
If you've got keyless entry, try locking vehicle and try the emergency key fitted in the fob and open drivers door. That might set alarm off if fitted. If it's a sensor alarm for car interior, get someone to lock car with you inside. Wait about 30 sec to arm and see if moving around sets it off.
Yes. I wound down the drivers window, locked the car, waited 30 seconds and then tried to open the drivers door reaching in and BINGO, yes I can let the insurance mob know that it has an alarm fitted.... Cheers and thanks for the interest.
