I am finding its taking far to long to make ice even when you set it to make fast ice and we are getting a build up of ice stuck to the ice draw floor. Do we have a problem starting to develop ?

Hi Paul,

There could be a couple of reasons for this. Just double-check that there aren't any ice cubes underneath the ice storage box. Remove and inspect and check no ice cubes have fallen over the back and gone underneath it.

If the ice tray has been removed, make sure the ice tray lock lever is in the correct position.

Take a look at the troubleshooting section of the User Manual (Downloads section, bottom of page):

The fridge comes with a soft plastic insert which goes on top of the metal of the ice cube container. If you don't have one a sheet of baking paper helps. The instructions explain that the plastic insert is to be used when making ice cubes

The Platinum Light quite a warm tone to it in the showroom. I'm sold on it, but the colour is really throwing me, we can fit the MR-WX627 which comes in Argent Silver, but I've been told it's been discontinued (is this correct?). Was it the lights in the store, or is it a warmer colour?

Hi Nik,

The MR-EX655 does have a warm tone to it. It has been described as slightly champagne. Customers have answered this exact question before here. Take a look at what some people say:

It has been discontinued and retail stocks are starting to run out.

Hi
Can anyone comment on the colour "platinum light"? How is is different to stainless steel in colour? On line it looks almost like it has a pink tone. This is my pick of fridge after much research but I am hesitant over the colour and there are none in stock locally for me to look at.
Thanks in advance!

It's no where near the pink that it looks like on line. It's a warmer silver than stainless steal and frankly is very close to stainless. Look at the difference between stainless and selangor pewter.....is has a softer appearance. It doesn't get as marked as the stainless and is easier to wipe clean.

laureng

I agree with Joanne — warm silver is a good description. Think champagne or steel lightly bronzed. My other kitchen appliances are steel (oven, dishwasher, etc) and I don't think it stands out as being very different. Colour was my only hesitation before I purchased, too — but I haven't regretted it!

Hi Mitsubishi,
I have the 655ltr and it has been a great fridge. However the power supply was off during recent weather her in Brisbane. Consequently the fridge was off for quite a while. We emptied the fridge cleaned and replace milk etc only to find the fridge was freezing liquids, eggs etc.
We have dropped fridge settings down to L on the panel but it is still iceing up liquids etc.
Do you think there may be an issue with the temperature control?

The answer would be "no" don't buy either of the Mitsubishi fridges you mentioned. I have a Mitsubishi MR-EX562 and it fails to operate (temperature wise) as stated in their own literature but they (Mitsubishi) refuse to do anything about it. Buy a Whirlpool, mine is still going strong after 12 years

There are a few differences between the WX and EX series.

Tempered glass shelves (WX)

Wide chilling compartment (WX)
Supercool chilling compartment (WX)

Hi all. Love this fridge and we are due for an upgrade. We had a F&P for 15 years now which has never given me any problens. My only concern when I saw this fridge was that I found it a bit 'plasticky', and the fridge shelves were not glass but more a slightly flexible plastic. Just wondering how those who have this fridge find the internal shelves? How do they cope with heavy pots on them? (It's a pity they don't have shelves like the larger model) Mitsubishi is there any plans to change the shelves in the 562/655L models to be more sturdy? Cheers all.

We thought this too, but it hasn't been an issue. Rather, we have made good use of the shelves' ability to retract the front half to the back, allowing us to stand tall heavy bottles on the bottom shelf, in front of the higher shelves. We thought we might lose space doing this, but in reality it gives us better visibility and access to the items on the upper shelves as we are prevented from losing items to the back. That happened a lot in our old F&P top-mount.

The ability of the lower shelf to adjust up and down and the higher shelves to retract without having to de-stock those shelves tends to outweigh the concern we've had about the plastic shelves. Also being a slightly narrower fridge, the shelves are not as wide as some, which limits the impact of heavy items.

Mitsubishi Electric
Support C.Mitsubishi Electric

Hi Trent,

There are no plans to change the shelves, as the shelf design is adequate for its intended use. The shelves in the EX Series can hold up to 41.5 kg, as verified by factory testing.

It really depends on how particular you are. We have ovens beside the fridge, SS frames & black glass in the centre. The platinum is a warmer colour, but we felt that the features of the fridge overrides the difference in colour. We are very happy with that choice, but I can understand that others might have an issue with the finish. I wonder if the company/distributor can send a sample colour?

No. However it makes enough ice that you don't need to fill up the water that often. You're not left without ice unless you let the ice drawer run down to completely empty and then fill with water tank.

I saw these two fridges in HN over the weekend but am split on which one to get. MR-EX562W or the bigger MR-EX655W. They appear to be built with real Japanese quality.

What I would like to know is it worth getting the bigger model, MR-EX655W over the MR-EX562W? We have the space so that is no issue, however there is only 2 of us. Wife is only 1.55 m tall and I don't think she will be able to reach the higher shelves, however I am tall so no problem for me. As long as I have enough space for food and beer I am happy however I do like to have a few 2L milks in the fridge door and it looked like the bigger model accommodated more in the door. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I might go back to HN and have another look.

Hi,
My wife is short, around 5ft 3in, but has no problems with the top shelf. We the second top shelf only half extended. We bought the 655 for just the two of us, as we have sauces, yogurts etc plus beers, to accommodate. Love the fridge, excellent build quality.

AFT

I suggest getting the bigger of the two. You two can decide what to store and where. Get the larger fridge. That way you get the best ratio between the space taken by one fridge in that spot in the house vs storage inside the fridge. It is a very efficient design, both electrically and regarding storage space inside.

I would like to purchase the MR-EX655 fridge. The width of the area the fridge would sit in is 798mm. This area sits in a corner, so one side of the fridge would be against a wall.
Would I be able to open both doors of the fridge?
Is this area too small?

5 answers
Kay
Kay

Personally I think it would be too small for any fridge. You will be able to open the doors but the door closest to the wall will obviously be the problem therefore creating difficulty pulling out the condiment draw or the water jug depending which side is in the corner. The sales assistant should also be able to advise on this question. I would try moving the location of the fridge to accommodate a little more space (this is what I did) and put a cupboard alongside. Good luck.

BrettH.
BrettH.

The fridge is 745mm wide. The door only pivots out approximately 12mm each side, so would fit quite easily.
I love this fridge, swallows heaps of food & has multiple choice for where to put what.

Mitsubishi Electric
Support C.Mitsubishi Electric

Hi Erica,

As previously mentioned, not being able to swing the door right open may make it feel a little cramped when using the fridge, and pulling the drawers, egg shelf, or ice maker water jug out difficult. You need at least 200 mm to be able to swing the doors right open. We have updated the downloads section of both the MR-EX655 and MR-EX562 to include a diagram which shows the installation space required. Best thing to do is take a look at one and see for yourself.

A family of 5 yes. It is surprisingly large on the inside. The freezer is ample, as are the other compartments. Our family of 3 doesn't use all the space (and I always have leftovers stored in the fridge). This is a brilliant piece of engineering and will serve you well for many years I suspect.

It Is a terrific fridge but because its so compartmentalized and the shelves aren't adjustable it takes a bit more organization than open fridge but yes

Mitsubishi Electric
Support C.Mitsubishi Electric

Hi Vanessa,

Would like to add that there are a couple of things about this fridge that makes it different from many others. One is that the walls of the fridge are thinner than other models, thanks to some clever engineering, and unique insulation technology. It means within the same external dimensions you get more internal volume.

The other is that when comparing litreage volumes, please consider that this fridge is divided up into many sections, not just two. They are: Freezer Compartment 131 L, Refrigerator Compartment 327 L, Ice Making Compartment 26 L, Versa Compartment 55 L, Vegetable Compartment 116 L.. Total 655 L, Gross capacity based on AS-Standards.(Australia).

If the fridge is in a corner, how much clearance does it need for the door to open properly so the shelves can slide out? Regards Murray

the pivot for each door is in the center of door so at 90 deg the inside moulding of the door intrudes 80mm into opening of the fridge but door is flush with outside so to get full access door needs to be open say 110 deg if larger door can open full turn and smaller only 90 deg then it looks possible to giggle shelves out and get reasonable access
Regards Andrew

BrettH.
BrettH.

I was checking that today at the shop. with the door open to 90 degrees, the drawer is able to open most of the way, except about the back third. Though to me that would do, to get back things out easily enough. You really should go and have a look. I had no intention of spending that much, but just did exactly that today. Amazing fridge just to look at & see the layout, the best I have ever seen.

Hi. I struggling to choose a fridge but am curious about this one. As a family of 5 we need a large fridge and freezer. I like the width the fridge comes in but would like to know how everyone is finding the main freezer drawer? Is it very big? It's hard to tell from the pictures and all the info seems to focus on the other features. I usually freeze a few loaves of bread plus many other items, would this fit ok? Also, in general is eveyone still happy with this fridge?

I find my freezer capacity is great. We also freeze bread as we like the bread from a French bakery which often runs out of our favourite (or close over Christmas!) I also use the smaller freezer draw as extra storage. I will tell you that your fresh fruit and veg will keep MUUUCH longer in this fridge - they stay crisp and fresh - good if you shop at weekend farmers markets. I have had this fridge for 2 years now and I still am in love with it. With a family you will enjoy the ice draw - you do not have to have the fridge plumbed - you just pour water in to the container above the draw and it makes ice. My granddaughter loves being able to get ice whenever she wants it - without asking an adult. Both my daughter and best friend have also bought this fridge from my experience and they both are very happy customers. I just love it.

Fill the water tank and put it back. Ice Making is set to ON at time of purchase. Regular ice making takes about two hours. You can set it to quick ice making which will take about 60-80 minutes. You just need to press the touch panel and choose the icon of the ice cube with the two stars. Please consult the Operating Instructions for more details.
