Works Wonderfully Well
Yes, we had it installed very professionally by a licensed electrician.
It works really well for both heating and cooling.
We use it mostly for heating, as it is so economical to run compared to most other forms of heating.
We have a very large and long lounge and it has the capacity to warm all of it.
We also installed the WiFi interface. Which is great. as long you an internet service you can turn it on with your phone from any where. Eg. before leaving work or on the way home, or before you get out of bed even.
Purchased in November 2021 at From the Electrician for $1,500.00.

Great unti
Fantastic unit, super quite, easy to use, cools and heats our large area really well. Didn't notice a huge increase in power usage from previous bills. Highly recommend this product.
Purchased in January 2021 at Betta Home Living for $2,400.00.

Love It !!!
Works really great, what a relief in the hot humid weather, we also have an evaporative cooler which struggles on the humid days, this gets as cold or hot as you like. Haven't had a chance to use it for heating yet but if it works as well as the cooling it will be awesome. It is very quiet to run and very easy to operate. Would recommend this split system with confidence.

So far so good
Seems to work well, it is quiet and certainly keeps the house sufficiently warm in this particularly cold winter.
Also came with a $200 voucher which I have yet to receive but will update if anything goes wrong on Mitsubishi's end.
Currently no qualms with it at all.
Good controls

Good enough for the entire open plan living, dining and kitchen room.
This unit provides us with climate control, the ability to direct the flow of air, and to set a time for it to operate.
Initially, I was not sure if it would cover the open plan area in our house but it has proved to work really well. We use it throughout the year to both heat and cool the space and operate it on a temperature range of 24 - 26 degrees celsius - we have found that this is the most efficient.

Excellent
Great setting for high that reverts to my normal setting a few minutes after i push the high power button. Gets the temp down quickly. Then eco setting keeps the temperature at the level i want. I cant seem to find a fan only function though. Which could just be me. Its the only thing i miss from my old air conditioner. This is a big model. But uses much less power than my old airwell that wasn't an inverter. I used this in summer and the bill was lower than last years by a third, and it was on alot more.

excellent air conditioning
I had the MSV-GL80VGD installed after having a useless evaporative unit installed in a new home build. I have not been let down by Mitsubishi and their reputation.
This unit cools an area of around 60 square meters in no time, it is also super quiet, this also being the case for the unit outside.
I also have the smaller MSZ-GL25VGD installed in the master bedroom and it cools this small area fast.
While on auto these units run quiet once chosen temperature has been reached,.there is also quiet mode which is perfect for sleeping and I do...Read more
n't even know its running except that the room is cool. Wi-fi connection and app are perfect for turning unit on before arriving home and keeping house cool for my inside living dog. Remote controls is easy to use with lots of functionality. Energy consumption is great and I have not been shy in running these units, with the bedroom unit running most nights through summer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Super Quiet And Works Perfectly!
We purchased this air con just under 12 months ago and we're so glad we did. It's super quiet (we hardly notice that it's on) but it keeps the room perfectly cool and comfy even on the hottest QLD days! We purchased the Wi-Fi adaptor for this unit too, which I would recommend to anyone. It's so handy on the super hot days when you've been in air con all day at work or the shops, it allows you to turn it on when you're on your way home. It's also handy when you don't want to get off the lounge to get the remote as we almost always have our phone...Read more
s on us, it allows us to change all the settings on the air con through and app on our phone! I also think the app is easier to use than the remote that provided (not that it's hard to use). I would definitly recomend this unit to anyone after a good quiet air con!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

cannot fault this airconditioner. Does my entire house top and bottom.
I live in an upstairs downstairs, town house (two bedroom plus a study) and use this airconditner to heat/cool the entire house. I was a bit sceptical at first when the installer told me what it could do, but since I have had it installed and running, I cannot fault it in any way and to top off the good news, it is also extremely economical to run. I have recently got my last electricity bill and it was no higher than the previous quarter, when I did not have the unit installed. I also love the dehumidifying device that is built into it, and th...Read more
e fact it is so quiet to run. It also has an inbuilt warning device (flashing light) that tells you when the filter needs to be replaced and also when the batteries are running low in the remote control. Certainly not the cheapest split system on the market, but I believe one of the best Yes you will spend quite a bit of money installing it etc., but I believe the money spent is more than worth the initial costs. This product is actually saving me money.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Heating an open planned area!
Have had the Mitsubishi GL80VGD running in cold Tassie weather and have been impressed with the ability to warm a large area. The unit is heating an area of 66 m. sq. and when we use the long air option, it pushes the heat into an extended part of the house. Easy to use.

Top performer, excellent temperature control
Our 11 year old Panasonic AC died 2 weeks before Christmas and needed a replacement.
The Mitsubishi GL series with the new super performance gas was recommended by the installer.
During this extended heat wave here in Brisbane Queensland this new AC has out performed the old Panasonic by a mile! Running all day, every day for weeks.
It cools a large area including lounge, dinning and kitchen with ease and maintains the selected temperature very well. The old Panasonic used to require changing the setting all the time because it would get...Read more
too cold then too hot. The Mitsubishi you just set to a selected temperature and forget. The auto vane settings is very intelligent and works to ensure the WHOLE room feels right. The Powerful Mode is fantastic to use when you first fire the unit up. It runs the fans high mode with vanes up to push the cooled air all over the room to get the whole area feeling nice quickly and then after 10-15 mins it reverts to normal mode automatically. Dead easy to use. The indoor unit is extremely quiet and is within metres of our heads when watching TV or listening to music and yet never notice any noise from it. Never notice the outside unit making any noise either.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Buyer Beware if you've got a hot fibro house!!!
I purchased a 7.8kW unit thinking, on the advice of the qualified private installer, that this kW size was a precautionary 'over-kill' as our house is a 50's fibro with big windows both north and west, flat roof, poorly insulated and it was to service a small room - 42m2 which includes a dividing sun room and kitchen (i.e. not a perfect square room).
The installer, who appeared to be giving his best shot and made every attempt to offer helpful advice, said that a room of this size would normally necessitate a 5-6kW unit but as the house get...Read more
s so hot, installing a heavy duty unit such as this would take care of the heat. We discovered that on a 42 degree day, the unit would only cool the room to 27 degrees minimum (not a comfortable 23 degrees). On checking with Mitsubishi, who conducted a thorough assessment, I was advised that all qualified installers (ours was) should conduct the standard industry 'ARIMA Heat Load' calculation prior to advising customers of their kW requirements. This calculation takes into account details such as insulation, direction of the house/windows, roof type etc., in order to accurately make the assessment. The calculation was not conducted by our installer and as laymen consumers, we had no idea of this requirement otherwise would have insisted on it. End result is that we paid just under $3000 for the unit and installation and we sweat in the room at 27 degrees on a 42 degree day. The purpose of purchasing a highly recommended brand was to ensure that my family stay cool in the unbearable heat. Mission not accomplished due to (i) Mitsubishi's recommendations (or any other company's) to installers not being adhered to but replaced with 'rule of thumb' in terms of assessment, (ii) no warning on the box and (iii) no regulations in place to protect the consumer. After Mitsubishi's assessment, I was told the room required a 16kW air conditioner (which they don't have) so they recommended I install a second 7.8kW unit in the sunroom section of the same room or install ducted air conditioning. Both of these recommendations are not an option. Unbelievably disappointing is my thought on the entire subject. On a brighter note, the unit cools well on a 30 degree day to 23 degrees, it's quiet except on full fan, settings a little complex to redirect the air flow which we still haven't mastered and Mitsubishi had no hesitation in sending out the 'big guns' to investigate my complaint. If your house sounds like ours, I cannot recommend the unit for extreme heat. For anyone else reading this, ensure you have an ARIMA Heat Load calculation performed on your house before purchasing an air conditioner!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Has this machine have a filter ? and what is needed to clean and how?

It will have outlet filters. My model is the 7.1 but assuming they are similar you need to open the hatch at the front of the indoor unit. It lifts upwards. The filters will be visible and slide out easily. A bit hard to explain but here but it is quite simple.
Stewpot has answered this as i have no idea... I will just get in the airconditioner cleaner to do it... lol

Sounds like an installer problem, not a Mitsubishi one ! Can't see how you can blame them ~ they had no idea of your house "condition". Does anyone make a domestic heat pump capable of 16kw ?? We have just ordered the GL80 and our installer did the calculations. If it doesn't cope (which I'm sure it will) ~ it is his head that will roll, not Mitsubishi's !

I agree, this review of his installer has nothing to do with the product. If product review had any thoughts of being useful they need to take stuff like this down
I also agree. The product is "unaware" of its intended location. So, an 8KW system could (to take it to the extreme) be installed in an outdoors football stadium and clearly it would not do the trick. On the other hand it would perform brilliantly in your en-suite. It is not the manufacture's fault. Mitsubishi have a great reputation, second to none - just take a look at CHOICE's review of a/c units as an example. We have one unit and another on the way. Mr Bishi, you're the one for us !
