Hi guys, I really have a big problem with my 2006 NS pajero. There are a very banging noice in the front of the car when you drive it. Specifically when it's a hot day. I don't have this in the winter, but will start if I drive a long road. I took the car in and they replace all the suspension bushes. It didn't work. I really don't know what to do next. Is it the steering rack or the engine mountings. Please help Monty

Hello, I have had a 2001 pajero Exceed petrol v6, I now have a NW 2014 Exceed and a 2017 NX pajero Exceed. The 2014 NW pajero gets 650km running around Sydney on a tank and 800km from a tank on the highway. I sold my 2001 pajero and bought a 2017 NX exceed. The 2017 NX pajero is using 450km running around Sydney and I get 450km from a tank on the highway.
The NW pajero get 20% better fuel consumption towing our 2 tonne caravan than the 2017 NX pajero that only get 450km per tank. Is anyone else having these same problems? Please reply

I have a 2010 NT and get 600km roughly running around town. Sounds like your NX has a problem to me.
I now have my NX Pajero in at Mitsubishi Northshore, and they are saying they cannot do anything to improve the economy of the car. I will not take the car back until they fix the car. The car is now 12 months old and only getting 520km from a tank on the highway. Slightly better not still dreadful fuel wise. I will keep you posted if anything happens
Northshore Mitsubshi has adjusted the electronic fuel injection on the Pajero, and asked me to do 3 tanks of fuel. I will then let them know if the problem with fuel has been fixed

I have just bought a 2008 Pajero 3.2 DI D, 25 Anniversary just on 15th December 2017. It runs good. I took it to NRMA for brakes and they approved it.
A diesel mechanic in Blacktown sydney tested it and showed black smoke. Indicated EGR, inlet flange, air and fuel filter service at $1000.00. He noted an alarm P 1901. The dash board alarm disappeared later.
However Lander Mitsubishi tested it and approved it with no fault. No charges made to me.
Also I have noted the fuel consumption. It ran 370 km using 57 liters of Diesel in the first top up of the tank (6.4 km/liter). Second time it was 48 liters for 350 km run (7.2 km/liter)
This model is supposed to give 9.6 liter/100 km.
I will like to get advise from some experienced diesel Pajero owners to improve the car's smoke problems and the fuel economy as I have never driven a diesel car before.
By the way I am also planning to put on sale my existing 2000 NM Pajero exceed with JTG kit on.

Not sure as to why it doesn’t give you fuel figures you expect . Yes it should return ard 10 litres per 100 kms avg and better figures on highway. Maybe you should take it to a Diesel engine tuner? There’s a place in dandenong called “ultimate diesel tuning” and they focus on increasing power and reducing fuel economy. Maybe you should go there and get an obligation free quotation first and take it from there.
Thanks Tharindo
I live in Sydney. Just returned from an hours trip. The car drove so smooth and silent. I will take it to a DI D specialist similar to the one in Dundenong & get it inspected and tuned.
Best Regards
I would recommend the same - a diesel engine specialist workshop is likely your best bet

Mate has a Mitsubishi 2006 and it's making a big rattle sound, his wife ran it without oil for a while and don't know whether it's the piston that are gone or it's the timing belt??????...there's no smoke when we start it but there's a massive rattling sound coming from the motor????should he check the timing belt first before he gets a mechanic to start working on the piston????

I would remove rocker cover and check timing chain first. You can put an oil pressure guage into oil pressure sender to see whether pressure is low (below 40psi). If low then likely to be bottom end damage from lack of oil
Running an engine without oil is one of the silliest things I've ever heard of - it's just like running a gasket over concrete.
I would recommend to take the vehicle to a Mitsubishi australia workshop or perhaps a reasonable mechanical repairs and servicing workshop may be able to assist .
hello. i know this is a late reply but was your engine a v6 petrol. if so was this sound a large metallic rattling sound. The reason being i had this particular sound and so eventually i had to get a tow home because the time frame of the noise appearing and suffering engine failure was short and the long and short of it was the belt tensioner had failed and all the ball bearings dropped out of the idler pulley just above it and then then all the inlet valves came into contact with the pistons but only just making a small indent in the pistons (hard valves V aluminium pistons valves WON). i'm doing a total engine rebuild now so all should be good as no major issues. cheers

Hi there! I have a 2013 NW Pajero and just pushed the reverse warning button and it fell behind the dash! Clearly I must have pushed it too hard. Do you know how I remove the panel below the steering wheel so I can put it back in place? Any ideas?

Hi i have a 2008 3.2 turbo diesel last year had the chain guide replaced at local mitsi dealer yesterday the car stalled and sounded like a belt snapped and now wont start im taking car to dealer to find whats wrong if its done damage are they liable?..sorry been up all night stressing about it
1 answer
Hi George
Apart from the usual caveat of there being many factors, and this just being my personal opinion, I'd say that if your timing chain (not belt) snapped your engine would no longer be running, but it is possible that the guide has worked loose for a number of reasons.
If it in fact has, it would be worth politely talking to the dealer about the fact that they recently replaced it, so the chances are that it was not correctly. It's very hard to prove liability or the cause, so if they are much more willing to work with you if you're not being unreasonable. They do have a reputation to protect, but that only goes so far.
This sucks mate, I hope it gets resolved without major wallet damage, especially when you've done the right thing in doing preventative maintenance.
I had a similar situation with a friends Toyota, the mechanic had recommended to my friend that he also replaced the chain... He didn't, when it did fail a few years later it was all on him.
