Could Have Been The Best
Bought new 15 months ago & now have 20K km on clock. Never been off road, so can't comment on that aspect.
Use it to tow Cruiseliner caravan & as daily driver. Performs those tasks with ease.
Dealer servicing only average.
Problems are with Communication System. Bluetooth with iPhone 5 fails regularly. Maps & GPS are worse than hopeless. The GPS is so bad, I would almost rate it as dangerous.
Vehicle is noisy at highway speed. Speedo is difficult to read. Spare tyre position is an issue with nearly all towing situations.
Despite the abov...Read more

rear door unable to be opened when towing.
I had a 2004 np Pajero and found it to be a very reliable vehicle I have now purchased an NX 2015 Pajero with the spare wheel lift kit a very big improvement over the np. I have replaced the coupling on my van and the car with a McHitch automatic trailer coupling as it has a low profile of only 125mm and also no height requirements as with a 50mm ball coupling so now the rear door is able to be opened with around 10mm clearance over the hitch and hand brake.

Not happy
Only iPhone 4 compatible with audio, lazy suspension, lots of road noise, no rear air, never get comfortable in seating, bad carpet always dirty hard to clean, city 4wd only, good on fuel, reasonable response but ow so noisy, hard to get wheel atonement correct scrubbed out 3 sets of tyres in 100000 k/m, squeaks & rattles from new and sucks dust on fresh and recycle mode. Very disappointed going back to Toyota.

Big disapointment on after sales service and lack of warranty
We have had our Pajero for almost 2years from brand new. The car was brought for my husband until it become the family car I drove as it was a safer car. I was hesitate at first not wanting such a big car but it is a joy to drive and the extra features like the reversing camera make it feel like a much more manageable car. In comparison to other cars in its range I found the features for the Pajero were over and above the competition especially in comparison to price.
We had capped price servicing however especially with Mitsubishi being so ...Read more
far away and the fact that it is actually more expensive than your log book service with a mechanic we have not had our car serviced at Mitsubishi and for that I am glad as their after sales service is not amongst the best I have seen. (I will give Toyota great after sales servicing and genuinely cheaper capped price servicing) Before a road trip we experience a technical problem with the car and contacted the service centre for some problem solving only to be told they wouldnt assist us or let us talk to a technition regarding the issue. My husband tested our battery after 18 months and being the car his wife and child drive most decided it was best to replace it. Unfortunately little did we know that then voided the warranty on our battery tray and Mitsubishi charged us $80 for the privilege of telling us it wasnt covered. Rather than being proactive and asking us one or two questions over the phone they would rather us bring it in so we can be charged for the two minutes it took to open the bonnet. Reading reviews this seems like a common issue that is not covered. Our CD player also broke. The model we have has the ability to use a SD card to play music which is amazing but our daughters nursary rhymes are on CDs. When this broke we looked into getting it fixed. We were told they could definately see an error but a CD was jammed which they couldnt remove and asked for permission to send it away giving us a list of senarios where the costs wouldnt be covered under warranty. Luckily for us it was a genuine CD and it was replace. Overall we have been happy with our car but the after sales service or lack there of has left a bad taste in our mouths.Similar opinion? Back door problems
We have had trouble with the back door since the car was quite new. On some occasions it takes over 10 attempts before it will close. Most times it is 3-7 slams. The scariest thing is it has actually opened up twice accidentally while we were driving along. Luckily it was a dirt road, and we weren't going fast, and our 17 year old dog or groceries didn't tumble out the back! It has been back to the dealer twice for repair, and it's happened again just recently. Going back in tomorrow. I'm worried Mitsubishi will no longer honour the warranty, even though it is the same problem that doesn't seem to have been fixed from the first complaint. Has anyone else had this issue?

A few hitches, but this is an offroader that can go offroad
I have a custom fitted Pajero 2012 (best equipped model) and lives in Scandinavia. Both the middle and rear row seats are taken out and a flat floor for goods are fitted. I also have a 3-way electrical lift capable of 150kgs mounted. It can fit my recumbent trike without me having to take it apart. If needed, a wheelchair (wheels off tough) luggage for three weeks and there is still room left. So far I have driven it approx. 65000kms with no major issues. A bit noise, but it doesn't disturb me - kind of like it! Car is happy on dirt road...Read more
as it is in snow (we have had plenty this year). The car can take me any place I want and that's why I bought it. It's getting a bit "soft" driving more than 120kms/hour so I seldom go faster than that. Its difficult to open rear door when caravan is attached, but I place (as far as possible) things I need most close to the sidedoors, so I can get them that way. When I bought it, my family couldn't understand what I needed such a "Tractor" for. Now, seeing how versatile it is - they tell me they were wrong. With anticorrosion treatment I am looking forward to keeping this car for a very long, it's that sturdy built,Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

After 12 months and 45,000 km travelling around Australia
I purchased a Pajero NW VRX 3.2L Diesel in 2014 – after 12 months and 45,000km travelling around Australia, off-road for about 4000km including Birdsville, Strzelecki, Oodnadatta tracks, Gibb River Road in WA plus others and traversing the Nullarbor (Nullarbor is just a big highway now), below are what I believe to be the top POSITIVES and NEGATIVES. Hope its of some use.
POSITIVES
1) Price – I was able to get one that was the last on the showroom. While it wasn’t my colour choice (white but at least it wasn’t grey) it did come with a $4000...Read more

Good car
After only 6 000 km, I can say that in general it is a good car.
What I don't like.
Although they say that the car has improved noise insulation, the diesel engine is very annoying.
The position of the steering wheel cannot be controled horizontally. Very uncomfortable for tall people like me.
The steering wheel itself is a bit "softer" than I am used to it, especially at higher speeds.
The seats are awful, really. Very bad side support. People saying the opposite, have never tryied real good seat.
The engine and the gearbox are doing...Read more

Fixing the rear door issue on my 13 Paj
Changed the hitch to an Atco outback ($360), cut the hand brake handle in half and re-secured it with a bolt so that the handle folds down flat. Rear door now opens all the way. My van is a 04 Jacyo pop top and very high. With the weight distribution gear on the door hit the hitch etc. All fixed and the Paj tows it like its not there. Ian

2nd Pajero and not regretting it
Last year when I was on the hunt for a vehicle to replace my 2006 NP I was reluctant to consider another Paj as there had been no significant upgrades since my old one. It was then pointed out "if something ain't broke" and as I couldn't find a viable alternative (Prado too slow, Jeep - too small and everything else going so soft road) I decided I couldn't really go wrong.
First a couple of pleasant surprises: Quieter - MUCH quieter than my old Paj. MUCH better headlights - no need for spots. Fixed the problem with sun visor not covering all...Read more

I'm converted "Love that Car"
I have been a Toyota person for many years now. I really struggled to make this choice, I drove the Pajero and loved it after owning and test driving the Toyota Prado..
I bought a 2014 VR-X and it is wonderful. The only criticism is that the styling is a bit old but it gives excellent vision. It is possibly not as refined and quiet as some other cars but with the huge savings when compared to its rival. Extra insulation kits can be purchased to make it pin drop quiet. The tow bar rear door issue is overcome with a spare wheel lift kit (dealer ...Read more

Very happy GLX-R owner 2013
Bought my GLX-R in Sept 2013 for $48,990. Probably the best price I could find in Aust. New, very happy with price and car. Done 8,000km, averaging just under 10L around town and better on highway trips. Just wanted a safe large wagon, towing and some off road. Not much to fault on the car, my wife and I get static electricity every time we get out of the car, I'd probably prefer a manual as I have never driven an auto off road, but the price was a big incentive. The glove box book is very poor on info about driving off road, but I might just h...Read more
ave to experiment. No crawl gear for down hill work. I have checked a lot of reviews but they seem to just gloss over the off road work. Drivers seat needs a lumbar support, and that's about it, so no major negatives. I test drove Toyota Prados too, and while they were a bit more up market, I couldn't justify the extra $10,000 plus. The only comparison I have is my previous 1983 Pajero. Love my GLXR. Economical, safe, towing, a great car. Off road ability with auto gear box dubious. Needs lumbar support.1 comment

Great!
We got our Exceed early this year and it has been great! We bought it as a demo (16,000km) but it's still like brand new. It's a very comfortable drive, has enough power at take off and steering isn't to bad either, it's also very good on fuel! The few problems that I would have to have is the 3rd row seats, they are a pain to take out, they don't split! Also there not very wide. My other problem is with the MMCS, it doesn't do half the things it says it does in the handbook. But overall it's such a great car, good to drive, good amount of feat...Read more
ures and great for the family! I would definitely choose this over a Prado. Comfortable drive, fast changing gears, luxurious if you go for exceed trim, FUEL ECONOMY, heaps of cargo area, heaps of room in middle, 4x4! Useful trip computer, electric seats, DVD player, iPod/aux/USB, Bluetooth, hid headlights, 12 speaker system (subwoofer), build quality! Style, fold in mirrors! The list goes on! Limited practicality with 3rd row seats.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great well priced 4wd that drives like a car
I recently bought a Pajero VR-X 2014. Had this vehicle for about 4 months. I have had Toyotas and Nissans in the past but none of them compare to the Pajero. This vehicle definitely lives up to Mitsubishis claims. It has a lot of power, drives like a sedan (none of that annoying role) the seats are very comfortable, the vision from every seating position is amazing (great for short people and kids ) and compared to it's competitors it is very well priced. Would not hesitate in buying another one. I do a lot a freeway driving and I am averaging...Read more
8.8 litres per 100 which I am very happy with. The way it drives, the vision, the price, the warranty (not that I think I will need it), the fuel economy. Would have liked a full hard cover for the spare wheel.4 comments
I want to know how much price you got your MY14 VRX pajero?
Would also like to know your price MY 14 ??? What about the GPS, spoken street names? speed limits? Red light & speed cameras? Sensible directions? Bluetooth OK? Music from phone? Ipod or android did it work????
Agree with your + and -, but I find my VRX is too noisy and not as refined as a Prado.

Great vehicle
I don't own a Pajero at the moment, but I have been doing a lot of research on the vehicle before I buy one. I have recently been for a test drive in a 2013 VRX and I just loved it. Plenty of power, smooth transmission and it just drove like a car. To be picky only, the diesel motor may have more noise compared to other brands, but when you're driving a 2001 3.0 turbo diesel Hilux, the Pajero is a quiet motor. I'm looking to purchase a Pajero (preferable VRX) and I have enjoyed reading all the comments about peoples Pajeros, and it get me a lit...Read more
tle excited. Only a couple questions I have: Is it good or bad, that the Pajero doesn't have a chasis rails under it? Also just want to know, the 3.2L diesel motor, is there any problems with it over a period of time? I'm looking at keeping a Pajero for a minimum of 10 years that's all. The level of quietness on the road, it had great power and the automatic was smooth. Drives nice and rides beautiful. I couldn't fault it NothingSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good all round vehicle
We purchased new in September 2013 and the Pajero is performing as well as I hoped with excellent towing of a full height 16ft caravan. It is comfortable with lots of features and has excellent forward vision over the bonnet (good for short wife). Economy has been better than 10L/100km average for all driving and it is very responsive with it's five speed auto. The model is a little dated and the motor a little noisy but no more than my previous 03 Prado. Fit and finish is good but a little behind the Prado. The purchase price was $13,000 less than the equivalent Prado model. Very happy so far but it has a lot to live up to against the 120 series Prado. Time will tell.
Size, towing ability, vision, economy, purchase price.

Pajero streets ahead of Prado
I just bought a 2013 VRX diesel. It is extremely economical and very quiet at freeway speeds. No noisier than petrol. I've had them all Patrol 3 litre T/D, Landcruiser 4.5, earlier Pajero 3.8 petrol, etc and this car creams them. I love driving it. It has typical diesel engine noise in lower gears but really it's not intrusive at all. It is smooth and well optioned. So far I get about 8.5L/100km @100kph and will get at least 900k's on a trip. I tried the new Kia Sorento too, it's nice and the motor is sweet, but I kept coming back to the Pajero...Read more
. I've driven petrol and diesel Prado and whilst I tried to like them I thought they handled like a ship, they're overpriced and frankly not any better finished than any other car. Their diesel motor is good too but not as good as the Pajero. Prado petrol is nice but heavy on juice. To get the same package from Toyota you will need to spend a lot more money and Pajero is still considered better on road and probably as good off road. They did win Dakar many times. Power is excellent and very economical. Well equipped for the price. Still looks good. Grand Trek tyres (18inch) are absolute rubbish. Kumho's are better and are just as quiet for a lot less money. I thinkl 17" tyres and rims are better and with more choice of tyres1 comment
I can assure you Bob, as a race mechanic that the Dakar winning Ralliart Pajeros shared only blinker globes with your car...nothing else.

Love our 2013 VR-X
This is our third Pajero and I am still rapped with the car. We live in the country and do a lot of off road driving and driving in sand. Pajero handles brilliantly. Fuel consumption is not as good as Mitsubishi claims, but is still excellent. Storage capacity is exceptional because the there is no slope to the back cargo area, so I can fit 2+ storage boxes high in for long trips. Could easily fit three car seats in back too.
Never have any problem parking in city and no blind spot issues. Only problem with Pajero is that it leaks dust. It's b...Read more

Love it!!!
We love our new Pajero! Upgraded from Subaru Forester needing more room for third child, fits 3 baby seats, its a snug fit but they are large baby seats! Very happy with the fuel economy, rear seats don't split which may be a problem for some but we rarely use them, however they fold completely into the floor unlike others. Cargo space in rear felt bigger than the Prado. Plenty of grunt from the 3.2 DiD. Cant wait to take it on a long trip. Very happy we opted for the Pajero over the Prado. Pure value for money, couldn't justify the $14k price difference at time of purchase, probably better resale but we couldn't be happier like others we know that own a Pajero!!!
Value for money, spacious, fuel economy.
Not much, rear seats dont split!
