Great car would never be without my ute.
Bought My 3.5Lt Petrol Triton in 2007 new from the manufacturer (worked for them from 1971-2008) and never has any major problems apart from the paint, had to get the bonnet and wheel arch flares repainted, done just over 100,0000 and will be going in for a new timing chain. I have the car service on time and the car has never let me down Had to replace the Manifold it got a small crack in it replaced it with extractors which improved the performance. overall very happy with the car preforms well off road and tows my van without any problems.
Purchased in November 2021 for $36,000.00.

So reliable, would buy it 10 out of 10 times
Very fuel economical and the distance we could get was amazing. Turning circle was a little bigger than I liked but I think the 265's didn't help. The handling though was more than excellent and very responsive. Interior is all vinyl apart from the roof which they will discontinue from 2015 onwards which to me makes no sense when buying a 4wd. Mud dirt water etc. and the room is great for passengers and packing the extras for camping

Warranty
I have just had to get my front crank seal replaced on my 09 ML triton thinking it would be covered by mitsubishi's 10 year power train warranty as its part of the power train, only to find out its not covered and not classed as part of the power train and class it as part f the sump and the sump is not part of the motor!!. So now they want to charge $1600 to replace it. Nowhere in the warranty book does it mention anything about the simp not being part of the motor, bit dosn't s motor need a dump to rundown therefore part of the power train. In my opinion the 10 year power train warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. I took this up with their head office only to come to the same conclusion!!

I'd never buy another triton
I have had my triton now for 3 years and in that time it has had the manifold removed for cleaning 6 times.
The carbon build up in the inlet manifold always blocks up causing the ute to lose power and surge really badly.
They are the only type of ute to do it from what I can find out because of the set up.
Never in my life have I owned such a lemon ute before and never again would I own one.
This problem with them has been around for a number of years and even the 2016 models will do the same.
Mitsubishi should be ashamed of themselves for selling such a shonky product and recall all tritons and get this issue fixed.
Buy something else folks because tritons are crap.

Shes' been a perfect gem
Bought her new, to this date nothing has ever gone wrong. she has done everything we have asked and has never let us down. She replaced our old Hilux who left some big boots behind and this one has proved herself completely. We have had her serviced regularly while under her extended warranty. The servicing was expensive. She has taken us on a few long trips and has saved our backside in the floods. She pulls our caravan without any problems, although we can't go over 2300kg. I would trust my car anywhere. We were considering powering up to ano...Read more

I like the Triton as it ticked all the boxes when I went looking for a truck from all the different manufacturers that would suit our lifestyle. Comfort, affordable, versatile and stylish. With my 22inch chrome wheels and a DP diesel performance chip (bit of a rev head) installed I'm very happy with it. Over 40000 on the clock and no squeeks, rattles, problems of any kind. I used it for work everyday and fun on weekends. My second Triton now and as before expect the same flawless reliability i got before. However if something did go wrong I hav...Read more
e my 5/10yr warranty to fall back on. So if backseat comfort and room is what you would like in your truck with a class leading turning circle, climate control air con, leather seats etc (top of the line GLS) for less than some of the other manufacturers basic to mid range models with less warranty, then this 4x4 is for you! Rear seat room was my main deciding feature. Got diesel for towing ski boat. Leather seats, dvd screen for the kids, waterproof factory seat covers for those bush bashing trips, tray liner, towbar, good fuel economy, best of all the rear window winds down. Plenty of other things I won't get into Only one thing and that is during rain the water gets blown into the cab if the rear window is downSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Same truck
I've got a 07 3.2L Triton and I drive it like I stole it everyday!! Towing boats, excavator on trailer work trailers and can't kill it. The one thing that has gone wrong is the blocking of the egg valve but that's about it. I've just hit 140000km now and still goes like a champ. I love it so much.

Go Triton
My triton no problems!!!!!!!!!
I got it in 07 and up to date only the clock spring for the air bag had to be replaced after i did the canning stock route lotttts of corrigation.
Breathers are standert and during the gibb river up north we went through lots of deep water no problen
Mod: 2 inch lift, 265/75 tyres, front locker, long range fuel tank, snorkel, the rest is cosmetics.
This 4x4 has traveled 120000km with about 50000 km off road.
I wouldn't change it for anything, the botton line is your driving, anybody can destroy any 4x4 if you want to

Preston Motors -Mitsubishi Australia
I purchased a new Mitsubishi Triton from Preston Motors in 2007. This was our third Triton; second one from Preston Motors and our first diesel. One of the reasons for 'upgrading' was Mitsubishi's 10 year drive train warranty. A month ago the car started to loose power and blow a bit of smoke so I took it to my mechanic who thought the problem may be dirty fuel injectors. He removed the injectors and sent them off to be cleaned and calibrated and upon removing them discovered that the throttle body was almost entirely blocked with soot and carb...Read more
on from a "poorly designed EGR system". The throttle body was consequentially given a good clean out and it turned out the injectors needed to be replaced. Once the fuel system was re-assembled and the car was re-started it became obvious that the problem was more serious than initially thought as the smoke was still present and there was a distinct clunking sound from the engine. At this point the mechanic suggested that as the car was well within the warranty period for both kilometres travelled and time I should take it to Preston Motors for diagnosis. WISHFUL THINKING! Throughout the last four weeks the service department at Preston Motors has been extraordinarily tardy, whilst throwing in as many red herrings as humanly possibly in an obvious attempt to test my resolve. It took a week to get a compression test which confirmed no compression in cylinder two which the Service Manager gleefully announced would cost me "many thousands of dollars to repair". When I explained the warranty status, and that that the car had been serviced religiously which was documented in the service book and in the glovebox for perusal, I was told that a log book would not be sufficient to ratify a regular service schedule, that Preston Motors would need to sight invoices for all services for the life of the car. In addition to this receipts would have to show oil viscosity, valve adjustments, filter changes and part numbers. Red herring after red herring! I forwarded copies of all invoices to Preston Motors which ratified the service history they already had in the log book and was then advised that my case had been referred to the area manager for Mitsubishi, who "has expressed that we are to follow standard industry practice, and thus (sic) is indeed a retail repair". APPARENTLY STANDARD INDUSTRY PRACTICE FOR MITSUBISHI IS TO REPUDIATE A WARRANTY CLAIM! At this time Preston Motors requested permission to remove the the cylinder head (at my cost) to ascertain the damage. When I queried what this would achieve the service manager advised that the type of damage could prove that whether the warranty would be upheld. "Damage to piston/s or bore/s should be a warranty repair whilst valve damage would suggest inadequate adjustment and would preclude a warranty claim. It then took two weeks to remove the head and report back to me! I guessed the delay was due to not finding their preferred option and I was correct. The diagnosis was "Whole in piston located cylinder 2 (sic)" and the occlusion that "This has been deemed a retail repair". I now don't know what to do, other than warn others to be aware that Mitsubishi and Preston Motors warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. Any advise on options I could pursue to enforce a warranty repair would be very much appreciated.2 comments

Cannot wait to get rid of it ! So not happy ! Have advised anyone I know who is thinking of buying one, to really think twice before they make that mistake.
(Mine is a 2007, GLX-R)
Nice looking ute ! But that's where it ends !
Engine light came on, car lost power and went in to "limp mode". Taken to dealer, almost 3 weeks later, after they replaced just about every thing possible under the bonnet, they still had no idea what was wrong ! They did just under $6,000 worth of work, thank god it was still under warranty, but still cannot tell me ...Read more

Sweet Lemonade..No Sour Lemon
Have had my 07 GLX Double Cab 4x4 with alloy tray since new and not a problem (so far). Have used it mainly on road (94000kms) and never had a problem, on the off road, handled the situation fine, high/low engages fine. Sure, as with a diesel, the noise aint no purring " Porche " and with bigger wheels doesn't help either but that's what i wanted.
For a 4Cyl Diesel Turbo, it gets up and boogies really well. Consumption for its size is good..(usual story, the harder the workout, the more you will drink). Overall ..lots of room inside for 2 adults and 3 teens. Reliable (so far so good), Impressed with engine.
Seats a little hard (but this is a commercial 4x4).

Bad
After owning a 2005 model, I think Mitsu have definatly taken a backward leap with the engine. There is no comparrison with power and towing capability. My brother had a new hilux at the same time as I had the 2005 and we always towed the boat with my Triton as a preferance. He now has a 2001 Hilux, and I have the 2007 Triton, we tow the boat with his Hilux! With any sort of load on it, it is dangerous as a 4wd, you need to use the brakes on any down hill grade as the engine won't hold it. I have had constant problems with it, and other owners ...Read more
I know of this model form similar opinions. fuel economy is great, steering lock far better than previous models. Fly by wire throttle is abysmal! The thing runs on for up to 4 seconds after lifting your footoff te accelorator. Will not hold in low 4wd on hills even empty! Windscreen wipers on intermittent have a mind of their own. Noisy engine and it constantly requires wheel alignment with every service.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Unit!!
2008 2.4L petrol. # yrs and only issue have been the cabin light & oil sensor. Thirsty with a load. Comfortable (for the driver). Passenger seat belongs in a bus. Loads of extras. Looked at hilux, but oh so primitive. No cig lighter, no intermittent wiper, no air con, vinyl seats, no power windows. What sold it for me was the ability to turn off the passenger air bag so I could transport my young kids. Able to get 600 km from a tank in urban drive. Really solid. Really happy.
Reliable. Comfortable. Ton of extras. High seating. Ergonomics. Gd service intervals.
Passenger seat. Thrsty with a load.

Good
You can expect all you want from this vehicle for it produces top quality results. With it's price so cheap everyone would want to buy one.
Excellent vehicle made by Mitsubishi, a Japanese company. This car has one of those good looks it has all the things you would want from a 4 wheel drive ute. Excellent for off road use. Has a nice strong tray albe to carry up to 1 tons worth of anything. The price is cheap and nobody wouldn't want to have a price like this.
The reversing and parking bit are the hardest. It's just long, needs more space to turn into the parking space.

Purchased a 2007 Mitsubishi Triton VR 3.2 turbo diesel dual cab ute about 6 months ago to replace a 2003 3.5V6 Holden Rodeo LT dual cab which had many engine problems that could not be fixed by Holdens. Triton still has 18mnths manufacturers warranty on it. 10yr warranty only applied to original purchaser.

Not happy, as the dealer will charge $1000 to do job. Have purchased & installed an illegal blanking plate in the exhaust gas recirculation system. Has stopped surging but will have to get manifold cleaned out to restore full power, at a non Mitsi cheaper garage. This is a common problem with the Triton diesel motors, even the 2.5. Sooty recirculated exhaust gases mixing with oily engine bypass fumes forming carbon build up & blocking the intake manifold.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
