Overhearing, dealer takes over 5weeks to repair
Bought a second hand 2012 mn triton in December 2022, coolant down dealer said just replaced overflow bottle topped up and away I went. Two days later no coolant, dealer water pump gone, replaced. Had vehicle for about two weeks, coolant down and noticed between engine and gear box. Back to dealer, Mitsubishi dealer check and said head in stress level. Back to dealer bought triton from. Sent head away to be checked and surface ground. Head now back on vehicle, this has taken over four weeks to get to this stage. Air bag light on when vehicle we...Read more
nt for head repair. Now they scan it and Curtin side air bag fault. This could have been sorted out earlier while head was away for repair(scan for fault). We are now in the fifth week without vehicle. I don’t know whether to keep or try and sell as I am reading other posts and it seems I could encounter more issue. Stat warranty is only three months and vehicle has been in workshop for most of this. Believed the Triton was a reliable vehicle, guess not. Triton had done 140000 klms. Snorkel noisey and vibrates, knock in steering column. Have not yet got to really try out vehicle. Going to tow a 18ft fibreglass boatPurchased in December 2021 at Bay city auto for $16,000.00.

A reliable and effective Ute
Bought with 40K on the clock and no mods beyond canopy, tow and bull bars. We use Ute to tow a <2 T van on regular country runs, including gravel/sand, and daily use in city commutes. We have added long range tank, snorkel, window tint, roof bars, medium OME front and rear shocks, medium OME front coils, heavy duty Lovell rear leaf springs, rest of vehicle is stock. Ute tows well under load, up hill take off is slow but can’t complain given size of engine and manual gearbox. Under warranty Mitsubishi did repair gearbox cogs at 60K for excessive...Read more
wear, and elec wiring sub harness at 150K. We have replaced clutch and radiator. Now with 260K on the clock and continued regular book servicing, including interim the Ute cannot be faulted. Very happy with local dealer and Mitsubishi for warranty items. Have owned a range of other 4x4 brands and am surprised how well this Ute is going, in my view it is as reliable as my old Series 80 1HZ.Purchased in October 2021 at Western Wholesale Commercials.

Not happy jan
Got brand new, serviced regularly, looked after, never towed weight, only five years old and massive overheating problems, water pump, coolant, radiator cap. Viscous fan, thermostat all replaced and still overheating, in the end it was a cracked head and needs new motor, Mitsubishi didn't give a crap only said ohh we don't cover the motor, what an annoying poor company response especially when they knew it had overheating problems in that model and should have recalled them all. I'll never buy this brand again and will tell everyone that Mitsubishi dont really give a crap.

They have been great with my issue new motor all good no cost.

carbon issues
At July 2022, 94 000Kms and brought new as a runout model 2015. Towed 2.4 tonne caravan for 30 000 of these kms. At 85, 000 ISH noticed power loss issues that turned out to be a badly carboned inlet manifold and turbo as well. Mechanic described engine at time as having emphysema. Extremely poor fuel economy as well.
Also issues with clutch, but have lived with issue for 50 000 kms (started to overheat on a moderate but extended climb with the caravan) and needs to be replaced very soon.
Disappointed with hill starting while towing carav...Read more

Great workhorse
I have owned my 2010 triton for the last 5 years. Purchased with 80,000 on it, It now has 290,000. The only things I have replaced are an air flow sensor common problem and replaced at 200,000 and shockys at 240,000. I service every 5000 and would highly recommend a triton to anyone. I tow a trailer regularly and drive long ks daily and the ute handles everything I have thrown at it.

BUYER BEWARE - customer service shocking
Bought new triton 2013 - 40,000 ks on the clock. Over heating with numerous breakdowns took us ages to get results finally we got a new motor. Fast forward to 2018 same problem with 2nd motor. Had to basically fight for assistance had fair trading involved they replaced with a short motor but could not tell us why we were having problems . Not confident with this as we has almost been killed several times as the car would only overheat on freeways after several hours and would loose power so travelling 110 km would drop down to 40 km stranded ...Read more
on side of highways with B double trucks screaming past you is something you don't forget. After breaking down 12 times in total we asked for a refund or a new vehicle Mitsubishi claimed that we had aftermarket items on the car and said that they would not deal with us. DIRTY TRICKS......... What type of company would leave us like that we purchased a new car and in less than 5 years had 3 motors. We gave up after 7 months of fighting. We have lost so much money as it was a work vehicle we mentally can not fight any more. Yes they won. I sincerely warn any potential buyer not to buy Mitsubishi !Purchased in June 2021 for $32,000.00.

Ordinary at best
2011 Triton was bought to tour Australia, bout it early to have it ready for the big trip it had done 20k Klms around town before we started the preparations to have it ready to go, by the time we left it had 60kKlms and now we are stuck in Alice springs with a blown motor and Mitsubishi have decided the diesel injector was the problem and as such there is no warranty, 98k Klms and all we have is a paperweight, and no way to get back to Brisbane

Great Reliable Little Truck
I have owned my Triton since March 2009. It has been reliable with fuel consumption consistently less than 9 L/100KM and having clocked over 160,000km. It has the 2.4 L Turbo Diesel engine with an alloy trayback and although the engine sounds small it has fantastic torque. I have taken this vehicle through Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory several times and never felt like the truck was going to let me down. The traction system is second to none and is, in my opinion, better than competitors. I also use it regularly to tow my 5 meter boa...Read more
t over various roads including heavily corrugated roads in the middle of nowhere as I search out a new launching for the boat. I am looking at replacing the vehicle in the next couple of years either with another Triton or, due to family reasons, a Pajero, but in either case it will be another Mitsubishi. I would highly recommend the Mitsubishi Triton to any bloke or lady out there who want a reliable vehicle.Purchased in March 2021.

Worst car I've ever had the displeasure of driving!
This is our work vehicle. It does several hundred km/week.
It is the 2.5L Turbo Diesel RWD model with an auto gearbox. All of that combines to make it the WORST and most dangerous vehicle I've even been in.
At an intersection, this thing is absolutely gutless. Even with your foot flat it can take 4 or more seconds to get to anything more than walking pace. On an uphill incline, it can be twice that and then the turbo kicks in and all you get is wheel-spin due to having no weight at all in the back.
At an intersection in the wet, it can be down...Read more

Best vehicle ever
Have owned other 4x4, my triton is way in front, it has now done 240,000 klm, had a minor issue with airbag light but was fixed, had minot oil leak, turned out to be due to dealer over filling, not vehicle issue, and was fixed, has never missed a beat, im about to buy another, will be keeping my 2011 and handing down the family

PAINT WORK
After only 5 years my 2014 Triton was red but has faded to a pink. Really dissapointed. $30,000 ute and a cheap paint job. Do not buy red. Does anybody have the best way to renew a 5 year paint job without cutting and polishing to much.
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi sedan darker red it has not faded. They use a paint that has previously been used on a 1999 Model which faded. Very dissappointed.

Regretful buy
I use my Ute for work and from when I first brought it I thought it was very sluggish taking off in it. I have actually found it a little dangerous at times pulling out into a main road as it can be so sluggish at take off. At first I thought it was just a wearing in thing that may come right over time. 0ther issues I have happen is the engine light would sometimes come on for no reason and it would loose power but as soon as I switched off the engine the turbo would reset itself, but the engine light would remain on until I took it back to the...Read more
dealership and many months later it would recur. At around 45 000 klm the 4wd gearbox had a major fault and the dealer replaced it at no cost. Now around 75 000 klms there is alot of rust spot's appearing on some of the door's and other exterior panels. I have real difficulty doing hill starts when my trailer is on the ute and have to in most cases put it in 4wd and use 1st low gear. The 2.5 litre diesel engine just does not seem to have enough grunt to pull a 2 ton payload even though they state that it can pull 3 ton. I don't think I would ever choose a Triton Ute ever again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
