Hi dhar69,

Thanks for posting your query.

Sorry for the troubles. The first thing I would suggest is to charge the device via in-car power/AC adapter for 30 mins or 1 hr via USB cable to your computer. Then while on charge, perform a hard reset to the device by poking the reset hole at the back.

If the problem persists, we may need to perform Smart Recovery on the NavDesk2. Please follow the steps from the link below.

When I use my navman, every warning ie railway crossing or speedcam is about 30m off. The map itself is spot on as I cross the speed clam or crossing but the warning is "speedcam 30 meters ahead" ! I have done several hard resets and updated the maps to no avail. Any ideas?

Hi Bob,

Thank you for posting your query.

Regarding the delayed safety alert, please make sure that there is an active route, or you have set a destination on the device to receive accurate safety alerts. You will only be alerted to the presence of a Speed Camera if:

a. You have set a destination and travelling in the correct direction to be captured by the speed camera.
b. Speed Sensitive You are travelling a minimum of 90% of the posted speed limit .
o When there is no route in place, the device must use a Radius-based estimation as it does not know where the user is planning to go. The alerts are based on a proximity hence it will not be as accurate as when a route is entered.

Please also make sure that the unit has enough GPS signal. A weak or no GPS can be the cause of delayed safety alerts. If the unit does not acquire or has weak GPS signal, please refer to the link below:
https://service.navman.com/M0100/F0110_DownLoad_Faq.aspx?bullid=AllBull&faqid=131400&Region=Australia%20NAVMAN&Language=English%20NAVMAN
*Note: if it's your first time visiting our FAQ site, select a region first then try the link again.

You may also try updating both the software and maps. To properly load the updates, please refer to the link below:
https://service.navman.com/M0100/DownLoad_File_114703_Australia%20NAVMAN_English%20Navman.html
Hopefully the above steps will rectify the problem. Otherwise, feel free to email our support team at [email protected]

I tried all that, still no luck. I doubt it is a weak GPS as that actual map display is spot on, is just a bit frustrating when it says there is something coming up when you have already passed it! I have now emailed the support team.

My Navman will only charge via my computer. It will not charge in the car. What am I doing wrong?

NavSupport A.Navman

Hi Beryl,

Thanks for positing your query.

Sorry for the troubles. The in-car power supply needs to have the green light glowing on the part that is inserted into the 12v socket of the car to confirm power is being received from the vehicle. If the green light does not light up, the in-car power adaptor could be faulty. Please either test the in-car power supply in another vehicle or test the car’s cigarette port with another charging device.

If the in-car power adaptor is faulty and your device is within warranty, we can send a replacement in-car power adapter to you. Please private message us here (or alternatively, you may email us at [email protected]) with your full name, shipping address, phone number, email, serial number, date and place of purchase.

NOTE: After performing Smart Recovery, your unit may start up with a calibration screen (not available on all Navman devices). If so, you may use a stylus or a paper clip to gently press and hold in the middle of the crosshairs (it has 5 crosshairs). Follow the sequence to calibrate the screen and ensure to accurately press and hold to make the calibration successful. If not, the calibration screen will not go away.

Hi MonaB,

Thanks for posting your query.

Doug is right. The battery is not to be used or relied upon as a sole power source because your device is designed to be connected to the Navman in-car Power Adaptor at all times. With default settings, battery life generally ranges up to 15 minutes.

Hope this help. Otherwise, feel free to contact our support team on [email protected]

My Navman MY670LMT GPS will only work if it is constantly connected to the cigarette Lighter charger power supply. As soon as I disconnect it from the power supply my GPS switches of. And sometimes it switches off when it is connected to my power supply. Why is it doing this. This is so frustrating.

Thank you for your question.

Unfortunately, a destination is needed for Digital Logbook. This is due to the NavDesk 7.50 generates your trip details and output mileage report, including distance, start and end locations, time of travel and fuel consumed to make doing your expenses and taxes quick and easy.

Like a lot of other reviewers, the battery life on this is terrible! What can I do to improve it? After fully charging it up to green light stage, the battery is dead after only 30 mins of driving. It is plugged into the 12v car charger constantly. Help!

3 answers
Dougsshed
Dougsshed

Hi Hayden,
30mins is actually really good given that Navman keep stressing that the battery is "Just a back-up". A lot of people seem to be having the same problem I do which is that, since new, the battery won't charge at all and as soon as you unplug the charging cord, it says "Battery Critically Low - Plug in to a power source straight away".
Personally, I find it hard to believe that a decent battery would cost significantly more than the crap one they use. There are times when it would be handy to use the device away from the car or when the power source is otherwise unavailable.
To answer your question, from what I have read the battery can't be replaced and you can't improve its charge life. :-(

Hayden C.
Hayden C.

Shouldn't it be charging whilst I'm driving though, as it's always plugged into the car's 12v cigarette lighter plug and the orange light is glowing on the Navman (although it never reaches a full charge of green whilst I'm driving). Never had this problem with my previous Navman (albeit it was a smaller 5" screen).. I'm wondering if it's because the MYLM670T has such a bigger screen that it uses a lot more battery power, or is possibly faulty. Hard to know, but I'm at the point of thinking of buying a different Navman as the "battery is low" warning when you end your journey is so irritating.

Since then the unit has black screened, continually has an orange charge light on and has now started flashing between a green charger light, to a yellow glow or orange?? o 30 minutes using an AC adaptor
o 1hr via USB to the computer

2. Perform a hard reset on the device. You may click one of the links below for the steps.

Note: If it's your first time to visit our FAQ site, you need to select Australia/New Zealand and then click the above link again to be directed to the correct site/page.

3. If the unit is still showing a blank screen, connect it to the computer. If the unit is still recognized by the computer, you may need to perform Smart Recovery using the disc that was supplied with the device upon purchase. Please note that this process can only be done using a compatible Windows computer that has a DVD drive. You may CLICK HERE for the steps on how to reinstall the software on your device.

Mine has always done the same thing since new. Very poor quality battery. I see from reading other reviews that the battery is not replaceable. I brought this issue up with Navman, along with other issues, early on after I bought the unit. However, Navman support was most unsatisfactory. From all the reviews I have read, the battery issue is very common as is the issue of inaccurate speed limits and warnings. My old MY60T had none of these issues.
