Total failure as cannot save more than 4 places and navdesk is useless.
Navdesk which came with the unit did not work and was told by navman to replace it with version 2 which has very few of the original functions. When saving places it allowed for four places then failed to save more, Navman told me to reset/clear reboot, same thing occurred. Navman told me to do the same again same thing happened cannot save places !

A load of rubbish
When connected on Navman just keeps rebooting. As a result can not update maps or look at trip information. Have moved to different USB port but still happens, tried different cables and still the same. System is no use if it cannot be updated

I am now on the 2nd MY690LMMT as the 1st one just shut down about 2 months after l bought it and wouldn't start so it was replaced by the Good Guys. Very poor Battery life
My unit only lasts for about an hour from fully charged to flat when being used in the car. Works well then goes flat. Has to be taken out of the car and recharged. Very poor performance when using on short trips

The MY690LMT is not designed to be solely run on the battery. the battery is designed as backup power for situations where you may need to unplug for short periods of time only. worst I have had
From when I got this unit the volume was never loud enough, I complained to navman to be told reset it, upgrade the software and maps, this did not work, presume everyone else who has complained has had the same thing. Even while parked with windows up with traffic passing the bluetooth volume was unusable, I have a navman 400 that worked great I thought this was an upgrade it was not. After returning the unit to navman they told me everything was fine and the speaker was intact even though it was unusable, you could not hear anything cle...Read more
arly from it driving, it would also alert me to things after I have passed them . I refused for them to return it to me in an unusable condition as the advertised bluetooth was unusable and traffic alerts could not be heard, they kept it a while longer and offered to send me another unit, an upgrade a cruise 650mmt. and out of the box that did not work, it could not load maps, went through startup, time format, date format etc etc then went to loading maps, from there it would cycly back to setup again and again, so the replacement upgrade new in the box had to go back AGAIN . been without a navman for more than 2 months, not happy at all, the cruise 650mmt is my next review. My advice for anyone with a my690lmmt with low volume speat to the ACCC for unmerchantable quality, they advertise bluetooth for a unit in a car it would be expected to work because they advertise it as a feature and it is unusableSimilar opinion? Absolute Junk
This is my second unit (replaced under warranty after argument with store). Exactly the same problem!!! Fully charged and as soon as unplugged, turned off and not used, battery flat in less than a day. Absolutely no way I would get another one as it is just not worth the hassle. Especially as the same fault in two units clearly indicates a model fault. Might source an aftermarket battery to see if the problem can be fixed, otherwise it will go in the bin and another brand purchased. It's a pity as other Navman units previously owned were very good.

Refuses to turn on at times
This unit is very frustrating. There are times it just point blank refuses to turn on. I can unplug it, use the power button at the back, nothing seems to get it to wake up right away. If you leave it plugged in, it MAY decide to power up after 15 to 20 minutes! So frustrating it's almost beyond words. Trying to navigate out of Sydney (I live in Adelaide) was a nightmare and had to use Google maps to head home after picking up a vehicle to take back to Adelaide.
Purchased for $175.00.

I programmed my Navman to go HOME - it sent me right past my house, told me to turn right into the next street, go half way along the street, do a U-turn then go back into my street and left into my house - blind Freddie could do a better job. Don't buy a Navman MY690LMMT! Absolutely frustrating experience
I bought the Navman MY690LMMT about 2 weeks ago. The problems started when I wasn't able to get a sufficient charge using the Navman usb to the PC. The GPS was plugged in over 2 nights but still no full charge. I had to reset the unit after the first charge as it wouldn't turn on. The contradictory instructions in Navman's manual didn't help. This unit has consistently lost charge while always plugged in to the car adapter when in use. Twice it refused to turn on at all, and both times I had to charge it from the PC for some reason. I'm back to using my old Garmin Nuvi with old maps for a while as it never had a problem charging and is at least completely trouble-free.Purchased in November 2021 at Officeworks for $178.00.

This is a very good GPS
Very accurate, and simple to install. The signal strength was very good, and in our travels in the Queensland area could not be faulted. There was a very slight problem with it but that was more my fault. Understanding how to change from NZ maps to Australian maps......a bit of lateral thinking was required on the settings solved the problem.

The unit was on its second trip when it spluttered, shut down and then rebooted itself a couple of times before just failing. I now have a device that only Shea blue screen and no other responses. Not holding charge
Im with everyone else thats had a problem with there MY690LMT have had it for many years the battery after 3-4 hrs plugged in then unplug and not even 3/4 hr out of it which is wrong you buy a product 1/2 by the brand name and the other advice you get. why not have a product that holds charge for at least a hr then you wouldn't get so many complaints. And as for the speed alerts picks up the next street over not the one you are driving on and as like everything else you get what you pay for and if they up the price abit and gave free speed cameras ect instead of getting more money out of you and paying extra

To set your expectation with the battery of our latest GPS units, kindly refer below: The battery is designed as a backup power source in the event of a short-term power failure/loss from the main power source (cigarette lighter port). The battery it is not to be used or relied upon as a sole power source. The device is designed to be connected to the Car Power Adaptor at all times. With default settings, battery life generally ranges up to: o 30 minutes on a 3/4.3” device o 20 minutes on a 5” device o 15 minutes on a 6” device For speed alerts, ensure that there is an active route or you have set a destination on the device to receive accurate safety alerts. Please note that you will only be alerted to the presence of a Speed Camera if the following two criteria are met: a. Directional – You have set a destination and travelling in the correct direction to be captured by the speed camera. b. Speed Sensitive – You are travelling a minimum of 90% of the posted speed limit (i.e. 54kph in a 60kph zone). o When there is no route in place, the device must use a Radius-based estimation as it does not know where the user is planning to go, (i.e. straight ahead? turn right? turn left? etc.) The alerts are based on a proximity hence it will not be as accurate as when a route is entered. It is recommended to connect the device to your computer once a month to check for map and software updates. Questions & Answers
Bruceasked
I have a Navman MY690LMMT which is about 18 months old.
I want to update my maps.
I have connected the device to my computer and my computer acknowledges that the device is connected. I can open the USB Drive and all the contents are displayed on my computer screen.
But that is as far as I can go. I can't communicate any further. The Navman is switched on and I have followed the instructions on the web site.
Any tips? What am I not doing correctly?
I had a Tomtom for 6 years and had no problems.
Your help would be appreciated.

Hi Bruce. You need to have Navdesk installed on your pc for it to communicate with the Navman. If you don't have the cd that came with the unit go to the Navman site and download it.
Once installed it should automatically check for updates when the satnav is connected. If there are updates available it should detail what is available and then give you the choice of which ones you want to install. From that point the update is automatic.
If that doesn't work then it might be worth contacting Navman to discuss the problem. On the one occasion that I spoke to them I found they were very helpful.
I have had several Navmans over the years and I feel that this is the worst, especially with the battery.
To be honest I have sourced a replacement battery for my old MyescapeIII and have gone back to using that as it is a much better unit in my opinion
Hope this is some help to you.
John
Thanks for your info John.
I have also contacted Navman and yes they are very polite and helpful. I have done what you have advised and what Navman have advised.
However I still can't get communication between my PC and my Navman.
I have had no problems with my Tomtom and am not unfamiliar with PCs. I think there must be a problem with my Navman.
Thanks again,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for positing your query.
We are sorry to hear that you are having problems in updating your device.
The first thing I would suggest is to perform a hard reset to the device by poking the reset hole at the back of it, then connect it again to your computer to check if the connection problem has been isolated. If not, please try using another USB cable, USB port, disable/lower down your firewall or try other computer.
Hope this helps. Otherwise, feel free to contact our support team at [email protected]
