Terrible
This machine does not have a reverse mix option. All food ends up as baby mash. Risotto gets stuck and the machine always has an error. My husband didn't want to spend the money on a Thermomix so he bought me this machine. I am disappointed and now angry with my husband for wasting money on this machine.
good for baby mash
no reverse mix option

Love it! Great cheaper alternative to the 'mix'
I purchased a second hand one for half the rrp, and am so happy with it! I use the thermomix forum and have adapted recipes exactly and they have turned out perfectly! I have made baby food, Thai curries, Indian curries, sorbets, stews, pho and honestly can't fault it. Looking forward to more recipes, but happy to adapt thermomix ones until then. I have used it at least once a day if not 3-4 times a day since purchase too.
Exceeded expectations

n the thermomix as I did the chef, and the reverse function really makes a huge difference !! And the tmx has the constant stirring function after cooking which prevents the burning on the bottom, this machine doesn't have that- so yes burning on the bottom and scrubbing to get it off is a pain !! Ok machine, but it is not the thermomix. Hpt( I wrote above review )Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Fantastic machine, great customer service
I love this machine and have been using it for 2 years. I use it everyday for green smoothies, juices, beautiful banana ice cream, sauces, salads, soups, everything! I have had two small issues with it and have been given fantastic customer service. There was an issue with the scales when I unpacked it and they had a new one to my house within two hours of the call. It has worked perfectly for two years but a couple of weeks ago, the driveshaft broke, probably from overloading it. I dropped it into the warehouse yesterday and I asked the v...Read more
ery friendly guy if they had any jugs because my spare jug wasn't working. He worked out it was probably the blades needed replacing. So when I got home this afternoon, a new base unit and new blades were on my doorstep. Impeccable customer service! Rare to see such great service.1 comment
Jodie, Please tell me where I can return my thermochef, my jug is not working (again) and the paddle blade broke. Would love to have some follow up customer service like this.

Inferior Product - 1 star is too much
We have owned a Thermo Chef for about 18 months now. In this time the base has failed twice (it is currently with them being fixed as we speak) and a jug once.
The first time the base broke a tiny plastic bit broke off and it wouldn't register that there was a bowl in place. This current time the drive shaft snapped. I couldn't believe that it was so thin and expected to blitz food!!
The jug handle just came away - like the glue (yes glue) melted and came apart. The bowl only gets to about 100 degrees or so...not hot enough to melt glue ...Read more
<read with sarcastic voice> The customer service team however is very understanding and efficient. When speaking to the guy last week he wasn't surprised that this product had failed and just got on with sorting out my problems. I did ask for a refund, but because I have owned this product for 18 months they said no.2 comments

making a smoothie, but that's a pretty expensive blender. I would not cook anything in the bowl. I also find it hard to clean. The scales on the side are very handy, but they are quite unreliable at times. Wish I had spent money on a thermomix.Sounds to me as though you have been soaking the jug in water. Two jugs to short out! I think its was more a user error rather than a product error!

Using thermochef is a dissapointment
Food keep burning dissapointed with the quality of the product.
Followed recipe on bollognaise & mash potato in recipe book. Food burnt & difficult to be cleaned out. Clip handle broken when try to use 2nd time when inserting steaming pot. Bad quality & not worth for the price. Want a full refund. Do not want a replacment of the same product.

Under Engineered.
At first the machine worked fine but then the drive spindle sheered, on inspection I noticed it was only a 5mm left hand thread which would continue to tighten as if using an impact gun until the spindle finally sheered. That is pretty weak, better leave chopping off the list of uses until they upgrade the drive.
I have also tried numerous sites to find spare parts with no joy to-date anyone with info please help.
looks nice
The drive spindle is not designed properly to take the load

Disappointed
Whilst I can see how this product could be great my experience has been poor. I was initially impressed however after a short period, matter of weeks my machine started making strange noises if I used machine for more than ten minutes. I was only able to stop noises by disconnecting power. It then would stop and then refuse to re-start. After a week the machine stopped all together.
Before purchasing I read good reviews re new wave customer service. My experience was different. I returned to my store of purchase who managed to get unit rep...Read more
aired however my calls and emails went unanswered and still do. Four week plus wait on machine returning. The store I purchased from lent me their demo machine which was nice of them. No offer of assistance from new wave. I have the machine back but it's still faulty, the motor smells like its burning and it will not knead. I am Disappointed was looking to buy their slow cooker very hesitant now and wish i had spent extra $$ and got hotmix pro or thermomix. Despite my difficulties if your machine worked it would be an ok product. Makes good sauces custards etc. not so good with risottos and bolognaise sauce was dreadful. lack of reverse function may be the problem. Inserting the butterfly is also difficult if it has to be inserted part way through recipe. If the product worked I would use it regularly but would still look at the thermomix. Good sauces easy to use Bad warranty service, mashes food too muchSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I love using my Thermo Chef. I turned my family and their eating habits around with this thing! I heard a few questionable things about this machine but found out first hand it works great and would buy another when (if) this thing breaks soon. I just can't live without it.
Easy to use

I use this appliance everyday and with no problems at all. I spend much less time in the kitchen and we are enjoying more and more home made foods. Pizza dough can be made in 20 seconds ready to top and bake in the oven - quicker than ordering and home deliver/pick up.
Inexpensive and does everything a Thermomix can

18 months later!
I love my thermochef have used in every week and have had not one problem or regret in the 18 months I have had it until today. Getting ready to make a favourite chocolate cake for a birthday and the blades would not spin, had a good look and realised the lock for the jug had sheared off. Luckily it is still under waranty but has got me wondering if this is due to poor quality materials or just my bad luck. Anyone else out there had any problems yet?

the black 'flower' that the jug sits on had sheared off. They said it was caused by overfilling the bowl. My husband believes the drive shaft is too small and should be square, not circular. I'm still waiting to hear back from the company. I'm also relieved it's still under warranty.....but seriously for $795 I need it too last longer than just the 2 year warranty period. In my early days I may well have overloaded the bowl a few times - immediately realising my mistake and taking some food out but it's not something I've done in the past year or even 18 months. Husband says it's not up to doing ice and pizza dough - but it's in the manual - my ice cubes are small. Either it can do what they say....or it can't. Hope it's resolved soon.Similar opinion? Fantastic machine
I have had my machine for a week and was a little nervous about buying it after a neighbor brought a thermomix and was telling me not to waste my money on this machine, but I absolutely love it to bits, glad I didn't spend 1,900 on a thermomix, the thermo chef does all that the thermomix does, not having reverse has not been a problem, I just use speed 1 and it does the same thing.
Love the time this saves me in the kitchen, I can put the food in, set the timer and walk away, get the kids ready for bed, come back and dinner is served!
The only downfall with this machine is food sticking slightly to the bottom when cooking for a period of time, but we have to clean other cooking equipment to.

The noisiest I have met
This this is like a blender on steroids . Ask it to much plastic, no worries. Ask it to steam some rice while taking care of the sauce beneath & it sounds like a volcano in the kitchen. " no hard feelings old kids in from the 80's" but this is a whiz you might never have thought before thinking of 'easy loving' . Some thongs & things forgive my preemptive text, are better left in uttered. If you have ear plugs or an especially acoustically nimby shack with a itch sans life & sans people, this may. Quell be the thing that doeseth for you otherwise I suggest try the sushi bar or the good old steamer & grill. Far less noise, far. More direct control, without nimby cleaning.
Lots of noise & less action than a gas stove

Wonderful Machine
Machine arrived this week. Was a bit nervous about how much I'd like it or use it, but I'm totally in love with it. I'm a sole parent of 3 kids & very much a "meat & 3 veg" cook with no time & less inspiration. Have already made a perfect spag bol (1st time ever) & brekkie risotto. Beautiful! I'm excited about trying new recipes for the kids. Thank you Thermochef :)
Quick, easy, perfect meals, easy clean up
One butterfly clip is broken but I don't anticipate any problems getting a replacement. I hear the after service is very good.

Good value for money
After much deliberation, I bought the thermochef instead of a thermomix, and Im really glad I did. It does everything it claims to and the stainless steel looks better in my kitchen. I was a bit worried about the lack of reverse function, but it hasn't been an issue. I just use the butterfly bar on speed one and my cooking has turned out fine. The only draw back for me is that you need to remember not to submerse the jug in water whilst cleaning. However mine came with a second jug and replacement jugs are only $90 so if a well meaning fami...Read more
ly member does accidentally wash up the jug in the sink, it still works out much cheaper than the thermomix. I have also experienced a bit of browning on the bottom with some dishes which took a bit of effort to remove. Other than that, it's great. The new models have a pause button so you dont have to reenter your settings midway through cooking. I have found it quick and easy to use. I make sorbets, risotto, soups, and nut milk smoothies regularly. I would definitely recommend anyone looking at a thermomix to check out the thermochef and save $1200. Versatile kitchen appliance. Disappointed!
So disappointed! Bottom of jug burns every single time. Butterfly bar flies off and breaks, putting plastic through the food. Everything mashes up...stews and curries become soup. I joined their “exclusive“ facebook club, and yesterday expressed my concerns and regrets on buying this machine, only to find today that I now have been “blocked“ from their club.
I have never used the Thermomix to compare, but prospective buyers of these machines should not just read the feedback which is sometimes biased, but attend several demonstrations before outlaying such a large amount of money.
**PS It seems since this review, I have been "reinstated" into the exclusive Thermochef club.....funny about that!

Love my Thermo Chef! How did Ever Live Without it?
To start with I am sick to death of reviews stating the Thermomix is way better than the thermochef and running down the no reverse function... Simply put this is $1200 less of course its going to be missing some features but most people who purchase this at $795 are not going to be expecting to get exactly the same as the thermomix.

My new favourite kitchen toy
I bought the thermochef recently, and have used it countless times each day since. It sure has had a a workout. I was careful to follow all the tips, to make sure I kept to the instructions re: temperature, and to make sure I had fitted the butterfly bar correctly. As such I have never burnt the bottom of the jug, or broken my butterfly blade. Everything I have made has been perfect. Had a thermomix for years and wanted to experience Thermochef as well. saw it at a friend in December, cooked with it, compared to my Thermomix. well. i must admit that:
It's better looking works perfectly in spite of the "trashing" campaign done by Thermomix reps

Great machine
I had my thermo chef for 10 months now and use it almost every day.It replaces a number of appliances as it can chop, kneed, cook, whip, mills flor from grains and you can even cook three different foods at once, like rice in the bottom, veggies on the middle and meat on the top part of it.Very quick and easy to use.As my family gluten intolerant, I make lot of almond flour in it and that only takes 8seconds. I love it
Chops, whips, knees, cooks, blends, mills an cook multiple foods in the same time with just one machine

Buying a Thermomix would not make any difference. The error is a protection against overloading. It come down to the user knowing how to use a Thermofood processor regardless of the brand.
