Reliable
I have the TS diesel model in manual and bought it new in 2013. The only issue was the battery would die randomly but after 3 batteries we bought a small truck battery that fixed the issue. I have done 130K and it has never missed a beat. Not had to replace the clutch as someone else mentioned so i was puzzled at that.
We would buy another what is now a qashqai as this has been almost faultless. The car is now showing its age. The trim on the door handles has peeled, some plastic trim rattles but nothing else is broken. A great reliable car.
Purchased in October 2021 at Nissan Dealers for $35,000.00.

Good build quality, some poor design choices.
My partner purchased a midnight blue 2013 Dualis (second hand, near new from a dealership) last year, while it is a well put together car it suffers from a number of design flaws.
1.) The CVT (constant velocity transmission) while a good idea in theory, means that the car accelerates slowly and uses a massive amount of fuel when under load (going up hills, towing etc.)
This is so chronic that is possible to watch the DTE (Distance 'till empty) counter shows we lose about 4km of range each time we go up the short (50m?) hill to our home.
The C...Read more
VT also requires specialist transmission oil which may not be easily available everywhere. 2.) The rear seats are no capsule base friendly due to the angle of the seat, we had a nightmare of a time trying to get a near top of the line capsule base to fit this car, ended up giving up and fitting it to an older 1997 dual cab Hilux. (not ideal I know) 3.) This one is more about cars of today than the Dualis specifically, but it has a crazy amount of black plastic on the outside of the car, meaning that machine washing won't really cut it and every wash means at least an hour with Armor All or similar product to prevent fading. (our 2013 model still looks a bit tired despite my best care efforts)Purchased in April 2021 for $13,000.00.

2012 nissan dualis j10
Nissan would have to be the kings of bringing out one dud after another. And they sell enough of them to keep in business. I bought my J10 Dualis from Alex Mildren Artarmon in 2012. The salesman scratched the side mirror as he drove it out the showroom. I discover a few days later there was a dint in the car just to the right of the petrol tank. The station wagon cover lock-overs broke under warranty & I was dumb-founded at the fact that the person I dealt with in hierachy argued until he was blue in the face to get Nissan out of supplying a n...Read more
ew one. After telling their service centre at that time, there was a problem with the gearbox, the manager there tells me if there is no fault found, it would be fully chargable. My head goes in the sand. Nissan West Pennant Hills charged me $350 up to 12mths ago to fix the engine mount & and I still have the problem. Then I read this about CVT which might be what the problem is but for Nissan WPH not to be able to be definitive about this issue is VERY VERY poor work.Purchased in November 2021 for $27,000.00.

Great car ! however - clutch replaced at 90,00km.
Bought new my 201 Nissan dualis TI FWD manual. Great car, but be warned about the soft clutch. Had to replace after 90,000km. Which cost $3k as you need to buy the entire clutch and flywheel as one unit. Also replaced front rotors after 70,000km but that only cost $100 and is a common issue with the dualis. My opinion is the manual version plus FWD puts to much stress on the clutch as it's a heavy car. Only caveat is this was a daily driver in Sydney conditions. so lots of stop start. Besides the clutch the car was faultless.

Nothing but Problematic
Nothing but trouble since purchased. Air con replacesd twice, silver door handle term peels and cut fingers, 3 passender door handle cables snapped at least one (some twice), boot handle snapped off in hand when opening boot, seat release lever broke, boot latch fell out and had to be screwed back in, very noisy and rattles. Very disappointed with this car. Purchases 7 years ago with only 52000k's. Didnt have the money to get rid of it once I realised how bad it is. Will never go near a nissan again.

Steer Clear of Nissan... Period!
I'm not going into all the detail but in summary we purchase two new Nissan's in 2013 and had nothing but drama's, in particular our Dualis. This car has blown 2 transmissions and is now on its third and the car has only done 75,000Klms. Further to this my wife's 2013 pulsar had also been through a transmission at 30,000Klms.
Never will I purchase a Nissan again and I strongly and I mean strongly urge others to re-consider another car. If you are thinking Nissan's are reliable cars, yes they were back in the day but now are absolute rub...Read more
bish proven by Nissan by not standing behind their cars. People don't buy these and save yourself the heartache! we brought these both new and never received the "New Car Experience", all we ended up with was heartache.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Highway champion
Nissan's 1st generation baby crossover the Dualis combines style and performance but not so for reliability.... this compact SUV is a great car for the long endless highway/country driving. Very fuel efficient pulling 750-760 km on a full 65L petrol tank. A pleasure to drive with it's comfy heated seats, telescopic power steering wheels, cruise control, dual climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, ABS, smooth suspensions, dual CVT transmission, panoramic sunroof, decent boot space and plenty of rooms in the backseat for 2 car seats or 3 adult...Read more
s! the only issues so far.... car doors weren't locking properly upon pressing the keyfob...turns out 2 actuators were faulty and never got detected by the computer system! Radio transmission can be disruptive sometimes. Inner plastic trims are a bit flimsy. City driving averages 11-12L/100km.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Nissan Dualis Ti parts comes from Christmas Crackers

The tin foil sheet that’s fitted to the underneath of the car not sure what it’s for but it pings n rattles and drives me mad also. Like i said the car is put together very poorly using Christmas cracker parts! “Do Not Buy a Nissan Dualis J10 model” save yourself a whole heap of grief and regrets.Similar opinion? A real surprise packet
My now wife purchased a 2009 manual dualis TI 2wd in early 2010. I have serviced the car myself for the majority of the 8 years she has owned it. The car is a great highway cruiser and eats up small hills on cruise control easily. It commutes around our country town with no problems. The only issues we have had are door handle chrome finish coming off and the usual tail gate plastic trim breaking. In 100,000kms of driving, its had one battery, 5 headlight globes, front brake pads and 1 replacement set of tyres ( due for new soon ) and thats abo...Read more
ut it. Stereo is good but Bluetooth phone connection intermittent. Heated seats are awesome. Car did very well when we hit a big kangaroo at 110kph about 5 years back. I would say this car does everything well but is no sports car. The MR20 engine has adequate power but won't set any speed records. Manual gearbox has a little bearing noise a slow speeds but nothing serious. We have traveled to Melbourne and Sydney numerous times and always feel safe, comfortable and relaxed. The leather seats are comfortable and seating position great. The cruise control works very well with the manual and I very rarely have to shift down to 5th gear on the Hume highway. I think the 2009 model with the manual is a great combination. I ask my wife if she wants a new car and she says 'No. I'm very happy'.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Never lets me down
Purchased a second hand Dualis (12 months old at the time) 2013 model. Interior isn't as nice as the other Dualis models ( my in-laws have a Dualis TI, same age model but the interior is much nicer than ours) Runs great, isnt as powerful as id like, particularly going up steep hills can be a struggle. Boot space is moderately big, However a pram takes up almost all boot space. Also takes Unleaded 98. We've racked up 130,000km and still drives as good as it did day 1.

Perfect touring SUV. Extra safey features. Comfortable.
Nissan Dualis has all the luxury features of the top model of the 2X2 except for the 2 extra seats.
Tinted panoramic glass roof.
Both front seats heated.
Spacious roomy vehicle.
Good sound system. Reversing camera back & sides.
Mag wheels standard.
Petrol is standard unleaded. No road noise.
Passenger & rear windows tinted.
Carbon air filter for clean air in the interior.
A big plus is if the keys are left accidentally in the car and all the door are shut it will alarm.

Probably the worst car I have ever owned
Lacks power
Extremely noisy motor
Is a long car (mine is the +2 model) and has only four little air conditioning vents right in the front, barely any air goes through to the middle seats let alone the back seats.
Thirsty on petrol for the size of the engine
The back tail gate handle has broken after 3 years and is hundreds of dollars to replace. Apparently a common problem with the Dualis.
Would not recommend to anyone

great little car - happy with my purchase!
I bought the 2011 Dualis recently after my reliable CRV died. I found for the money I paid it has been a great purchase. Most people said I would be silly not to get another CRV, however I am glad I bought the dualis.
I find it very comfortable, with all the modern bits and pieces. Fuel economy is much better than the CRV. Power is a bit of an issue - especially when the AC is on, however, I don't need a lot of power. It's got a great turning circle, good vision (my partner prefers driving it for this reason compared to his Ford Focus), and it is still big enough to fit 5 adults comfortably.
I'd recommend this car to my friends!

Comfortable, well built and reliable
It's not exciting, it's not big on power, but the J10 Duallis is a comfortable, very well built and practical little SUV that gets the job done without fuss. If you want a big boot, look elsewhere and don't be tempted to fit it with big wheels that look great but just add noise and reduce ride quality on naff Aussie roads: it's not a sports car, don't try to get it there with the wheels. The CVT requires a compete recalibration of how you drive and yes it can sound like a horribly slipping clutch when you give it a bootfull but apply head o...Read more
ver heart and realise the transmission is finding exactly the spot on the torque curve your right foot is asking for and learn to use it..such a better city driving experience than a dual clutch 'auto' and makes so much more engineering sense. Great little car, highly recommended.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I have heated leather seats which i cannot live without, a big moon roof and dual control heating/cooling. This car is so economical on the road, easy to pack, it is just the perfect size for me

So bad
First! When I just got my care I found the rubbers near the window drops off and I have to go back to the retailer to fix it! This tools my a week
Secondly, after 4-5year now! The key detecting is not sensitive! Sometime I wake up to work but I can open the door of the car! Or, I could open the door but I can't drive it because it shows the key is not detected! However, both of the key and I were both in the car!

Competitively priced one of the best compact SUV
At the time we were looking for a compact SUV for under $20,000. Finally test drove the Dualis and the Hyundai ix35. We ended up buying this and no regrets. We added extra 3 yr warranty to make it 6 yrs total. That was handy when the driver side window motor was slowing down and sticky - warranty repair. Apart from that, in 7 yrs of owning, we had to change oil cooler seal ($180), battery (twice) and tyres (3 sets). City driving (actual measured economy) gives 10.5~11.5L/100km. Good Job Nissan!

Questions & Answers
Lynne H.asked
Hi I have a 2008 j10 dualis xtronic, my problem is there is a low pitched drone noise coming from the rear of the car and a shutter that is felt through the steering wheel and the whole car. My mechanic removed the tail shaft and sent it away to replace the two cylinders, I drove it for 2weeks only on 2 wheel drive no noise, once he refitted the tail shaft the noise reappeared, so I took it back he had it for a total of 8 weeks and replaced some convertor in the transmission (this was over the Xmas new year period) I got the car back last week and noticed that the noise was still there. I drove from my place of work into a town 27 kms away and the shaking was that bad I could not see out the vision mirror, and noise got louder. I did notice it’s was worse after I put 40 litres of fuel in it, do you have any idea what the problem could be any help would be appreciated
