Great car!!
I am so happy we brought this car second hand from Nepean motor group! Its so smooth to drive, feels safe, easy to park and great size for our family of 5!
We have 3 car seats that fit comfortably across the middle row, plus the option of the two extra seats in the back.
Purchased in December 2021 at Nepean Motor Group for $22,000.00.

Air con gone and not covered by nissan
I have had this car since brand new kept up all servicing etc with Nissan. I complained two years into having the car that the air con kept cutting out but they tested it and said it was fine. Now had the car 3 years and air con gone again and surprise Im now out of warranty and not covered.
Nissan want to charge me for a diagnostic report, but I dont trust them based on the previous service on the air con.
I will never buy a Nissan again which is a shame because I loved my car.
Its comfortable and great to drive but not so great when its hot and I have three going kids in the car crying from being too hot.
Purchased in March 2021.

Ths sad truth - AC system and no responsibility by Nissan.
Nissan X Trail: CYP51H.
VIN: JN1TBNT32A0006482
Model: 2015 X Trail STL 4WD
I bought the car, new, and received a substantial Government discount due to the fact that I am a Vietnam Veteran and hold a TPI Gold Card from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The SUV has been an absolute gem apart from the fact that in November 2018 the Air Conditioning started to malfunction. After 20-25 minutes it would simply cut out. As I was at a Vietnam Veterans Bi-Annual reunion on Phillip Island (I organise these events every two years: www.hq1atf.otg) I ...Read more
visited Diverse Auto Electrics in Cowes for them to ascertain the problem! To no avail. On my return home to Merimbula, I visited my Nissan dealer (Momsen Motors in Bega) and they also checked the AC. Again I visited them just prior to Christmas as the problem continued. They basically told me that it could be a figment of my imagination!Purchased in June 2021.

Horrible Car, with residual issues and weak after sale services
The car came with rattle and odd vibration, back to the dealer but no proper action just got the car and returned it after couple of days, contacted with head office, inappropriate customer service, never recommend to buy a Nissan.
Nissan scarified quality and removed some essential and standard items and replaced them by some features in the cabin and 360 cameras.
Purchased in June 2021.

Not entirely happy
This is my second car, having driven a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer for 12 years before now. I loved the look of the older more box shaped xtrail, and had driven my aunt's 2003 model with the sunroof. I didn't want to shop around, I just wanted an xtrail. I found a 2015 model that was practically new with full service history, low km's and low price. Fairly happy with it except for one major problem... the vision is so terrible. There is a reversing camera but trying to change lanes on a busy highway is slightly terrifying. All cars have blind spots,...Read more
so you turn your head to make sure there is nobody beside you, but the 2015 xtrail has such tiny windows at the back and sides that it is very hard to see. I have tested the vision at day and night and I am shocked at how poor it is. My other serious dislike about this car is the Speedo is not correct. Apparently this is something some new cars feature to lessen speeding tickets? If I am travelling at 80km/hr according to the car, I am actually only moving at 75km/hr. I thought I was being paranoid about it until I tested it and found out this is a thing. I think it is absolutely ridiculous. The sound system is terrible and it was so hard trying to listen to music for the first few months (I got used to it eventually, unfortunately) Also the Nissan Connect app is crap. Do not recommend. Also a real hassle to get the cars ownership details updated with Nissan when you buy it secondhand (must be done to use nissan connect app) I do like the airconditioner chilled cup holders. And the underseat aircon. The removable floor bits in the boot and the ability to fold seats forward etc is all fine. The "net" over the boot is annoying and useless. I like the extra cup holders and the adjustable back seats. Very confortable to sit in the back on a long drive. I am not entirely disappointed. It has electric windows and cruise control which as luxuries to me.Purchased in April 2021 for $19,000.00.

Really good family car
I've owned my 2014 Xtrail from new and can say it hasn't missed a beat mechanically. Which is great, because I intend to keep driving it for the next 5+ years if possible. Servicing by Nissan has always been around $300 - which is as expected.
As to the car itself, we're a family with three growing boys and wanted seven seats to help cart around their friends on short trips - to and from friends houses and sporting events. The additional fold-down seats are really only good for short trips - there's barely any leg room, even with the middle s...Read more
eats pushed forward. Otherwise, when the back two seats are down, there's plenty of room in the middle seats and plenty of luggage space. Extra-wide-opening rear doors are a great help to get the kids and their various possessions in and out. The front seats are really comfy and I enjoy the feature of heated seats in winter. The leather seats are easy to clean and come up a treat with a bit of hot water and detergent. However, the gloss finish on the dashboard attracts dust like nothing else. I've taken to keeping a dust-mitt in the centre console for regular cleaning of the dash. The reversing camera is really-handy - Nissan have super-imposted a graphic of the car (top-down) when reversing, so it looks like there's a camera hovering above the car. Very clever and makes reversing very easy. It's reasonably economical to drive - we spend about $30 a week and that's going about 250km each week. Would I buy again - yes.Purchased in September 2021 for $38,000.00.

An absolute gem of a car
This car is incredible. Beautiful to look at, amazing to drive, easy on fuel, reliable, roomy, safe and cheap to maintain. The interior is comfortable and easy to clean. The push button start and keyless entry is lush. I'm so in love with this car and will recommend it over and over again.
Purchased in February 2021 at Westpoint Autos for $15,500.00.

First SUV and couldn't be happier after four years' ownership.
I bought my X-Trail ST 2WD new, in 2014, when I became a grandfather and wanted a bit more space and metal around my precious granddaughter. I had previously owned performance cars, most recently a Mazda MX-5, so this was a major change for me.
I chose the CVT auto having owned a CVT-equipped Honda motorcycle and enjoyed it. I find the step-less auto relaxing and unobtrusive, especially on hilly roads where the CVT doesn't hunt up and down gears.
I have been very happy with my purchase, which came after evaluating most other SUVs in its c...Read more
lass, including the CX5 (class leader according to the press at that time). 100% reliable, roomy, well-equipped for the price and surprisingly economical (average 7.7L/100kms to date), I find myself frequently telling my wife and son how much I like this car. Coming from a petrol-head like me - (and longstanding car enthusiast) that is high praise indeed. I usually start to eye up other cars and think about a swap as the third year of ownership approaches. This time around however, I have no such inclinations. Already more than happy with the superb value for such a competent car (I paid $29,990 drive away), I see no reason to trade it in. This is perhaps the most all-round economical car I have owned in thirty years! Oh and the 2WD has proven to be quite capable on dirt, too. My hobby is photographing motorcycle trials and the events often take place miles from anywhere, at the end of some rather rough gravel roads. The extra ground clearance that an SUV provides has been a boon and i haven't yet needed more traction. When the time comes to trade it in, I will mostly likely head back to the Nissan dealer ...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Perfect 7 seater.
This is by far the most value for money we have bought and we have changed cars couple of times. No nonsense car and will never fail you. Love it. Fuel economy is good and service is only once a year. Great boot space and great back seat legroom. The back seats in the 7 seater for kids only, dont expect grown up to sit there.

Love it!
Use daily for work and also road trips. Never had any issues. Drives smoothly. Lots of space in the back and in the boot. You can barely notice the transmission changing gears. The NissanConnect app is very poorly designed but the features it purports to use are ones we wouldn't use anyway.

At low revs it shakes
Buyer beware, do not purchase these cars, badly made, and worst company to deal with. Have had steering wheel vibrations the moment we purchased it. Our test run wasn't long enough. We started to notice a bad vibration coming from the steering wheel when travelling the car at low rpm, 40ks, 60ks, 80ks. Went to 2 Nissan dealers and they said its the make up of the car. They didn't bother checking it, only offered a wheel balance that has done nothing. I will now take it to an independent mechanic for external advice.

My 2nd X-Trail and I love it!
I had a Nissan X-Trail 2012 and traded it in for a small car due to its high petrol consumption and high service cost. At this time I did not know that one can service a new car at a mechanic other than the dealer itself without losing the warranty. The day I handed my keys over, I already regretted it because I really loved my car. Having had the small car for 4 years, I needed to get an X-Trail again and so I did: A used 2016 ST 4x4 with only 3,500 km on the odometer for a very good price. The only bad decision was that I took the "Cosmetic P...Read more
ackage" which includes Windows tinting, colour protection and small chip and scratch repair for a small amount per job. This was an extra $ 2,000.00 and definitely NOT worth it! Shortly after picking up my X-Trail, I went on a trip from Mornington, VIC to Hahndorf, Barossa Valley and Adelaide, SA. The car was excellent in every aspect! We were 2 people, therefore more than enough space for our luggage. Driving mostly on freeways and highways, the best petrol consumption was 6.4 litres/100 km and 91 Octane petrol is enough (I had a German car before and needed to put 95+ petrol in the tank which was getting very expensive). Driving short distances - I'm talking about 2-5 km back and forth (moving house last week) is a different story: The fuel economy was at about 14 litres/100 km, but no one usually does this (?). I cannot complain about anything so far and it's been 7 months since I bought this car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Economical SUV
This car is being used everyday for our family. Really good value for money with enough room for 7 people. Eco mode option is very useful to save petrol these days. Enough power to carry 7 people. Reversing camera is very useful for parking. Looks great inside out. Very happy with the performance so far.

Cheap and cheerful
Picked up a 2016 base model 2 liter manual for a good price. Up to 17000kms.
Motor underpowered needs reving to go anywhere. Problem is greater with a/c running. Clutch makes clicking noise after 5k. Gearbox notchy supposed to get better with age. Ride can get jiggly over smaller bumps.
Fuel Economy is ok regularly get under 8L/100kms around town. Using castrol edge 5w30 full syn.
Seats are comfy for normal driving and everything works so far. Easy access in engine bay for servicing etc.
Also my Chinese smart phone won't connect to Bluetooth. Samsung works fine.

Great family SUV
Great on fuel for an SUV, plenty of power and so easy to park. This is our main family car and we have had it 2.5yrs and will most likely buy another when we trade in. Great tech, very comfy and brilliant with camera views for parking and manouvering in tight spaces. Ti model.has some great features and handles very well in all conditions. Very safe and reliable family car. First Nissan we have owned and extremely happy with it.

Inferior paint on body of car
I prev had an xtrail for 10 years, so for me it was a no brainer, as mine still looked brand new after 10 years, and drove excellently. This time I bought a 2016 model. Both my prev xtrail and this have had paint protection done pre delivery. Now, not quite 2 years later, having done only 11,000ks, and always garaged, my car has chips in the paint in quite a few places. It seems that if anyone accidentally nudges my car with their door, they take the paint back to bare metal. Seriously feel like they left a few coats of my paintwork when manufacturing. So devastatingly, disappointed. Would not buy another xtrail unless this was proven to be rectified.

Great Car!
Use this car all the time - from commuting to work to family road-trips. It has a great interior look with leather seats which are very easy to clean especially with our dog constantly shedding her hair. The front seat warmers are a cute feature i use a lot more than I originally expected i would.

Love my Xtrail
I previously owned an X-trail and when looking for a new car, cam back to buy another X-trail! I love that it's spacious, has added features like front seat warmers and rear air conditioning vent, it's very economical to drive and was affordable compared to other similar cars. My only down point on this model is the back seats don't fold down flat (my previous model did) but that's because they can be moved forward ad back for extra leg room

Terrific Car
Love my STL. It’s roomy, has a safe feeling about it. Economical on a trip. If I had one fault it is opening and closing the boot. Not really my Xtrails fault as I have quite bad hands. I would definitely recommend the Xtrail, sales and service at Von Bibra second to none. Best family car ever.

Perfect for me
I purchased my Xtrail in Dec 15 and have not had one ounce of trouble with it. I’ve driven it from Perth to Sydney and back again 10 months later towing a box trailer. Fuel economy is fantastic and the interior features are great. For a seven seater it is ideal for my young family. Leg room is great in front and back.
The only issue I have is that the headlights are not bright enough being 60W high beams. The interior lights are not real bright either but these can be changed to led’s.
Getting close to 840km per tank gives exceptional fuel economy

My AC was not cycling so I changed my AC thermostat and it's still not cycling off its running continuously. Why? Does it have a electrical AC box controlling the thermostat?

Anyone had any issues with a squeak in the front wheels? Or anything wrong with aircon. Mine is out of warranty and now the air con not working! Any ideas?

No squeak but my air con has been poor since day one. Had unit checked at the workshop and no issues - just always struggles to cool in higher heat.
what year is it?? any Xtrails after 2014 are problems the earlier models are better. The squeak in the front wheels is the ball joints or sway bar bushes common problem with the later model Xtrails same as the air conditioner another common problem with later model xtrails Nissan knows about it but says there is not an issue.
common problem with the compressor in the later model xtrails

Hi i have a 2016 nissan hybrid xtrail model
The AC breeze keeps blowing soft an cold but not as strong as it should be when i take it off for 15 min it comes normal an cold what is the cause?
1 answer
(xtrail t32) I had same problem, took it to nissan service station, they only cleaned and bla bla bla... then I took the liberty to check the refrigerant by pressure (not by weight as they recommended). turned out, need more gas. I filled it up to the minimum requirement to be cautious. it's been 10 months now and the aircon still good.
