So glad we purchased "No Touch Thermometer" years ago

published

We have used one for over 5 1/2 years and love it. It still works perfectly. It's best to keep it in the room you will be taking the temperature in, so if your child is ill, leave it in their room so temp reading is accurate. We have had doctors visit the house (house calls) and twice I brought out this thermometer and checked with the doc's own reading when they use their ear thermometer - and both times identical reading as doctors own. Very pleased we purchased this product.
Does not wake sleeping baby or child, children don't mind it being used when awake, acurate
Occasionally need to take temperature a few times to ensure temp is correct (however this issue occurred when I used ear thermometer prior to buying this product too)

Highly recommend - worth the initial layout. You get accurate, clear results in a few seconds. And there is no need to wake the baby. So simple to use for the whole family.
I love this product and have been using it for many years now. Its so quick and simple. My kids don't even realize that I have taken there temperature. I find the readings to be very accurate. My husband and I also use it. I don't even own a traditional thermometer.
It can be a bit expensive but I have had mine for nearly 3 years so in the end it works out pretty cheap.

I onyl just bought this the other day and absolutely love it. I used to have a traiditonal thermometer, but found I did not trust the reading, as baby was reluctant to have it under arm. I love the fact that this one doesn't involve touching, if my daughter is awake it doesn't bother her to have this near her hear, and if she is sleeping, I don't have to disturb her. I trust the reading on it because it is easy to know that you have used it correcty. Yes it costs a bit, but absolutely worth the money.
Easy to use, accurate, doesn't require baby to stay with it clamped under the arm!
Cost!

I own this product but as I have dropped it a few times it no longer works. Before I dropped it I found that it was a very useful as my son would never let me get near him with a normal thermometer (even the ear one that I bought). We also tried the underarm thermometer and the forehead strip one with no luck. He actaully like this one and I am going to have to purchase this one again or one like it as it was a life saver. Easy to use.
So easy to use on a sooky baby and can be used while baby is sleeping. I found it was easy to use and understand the readings. Has a good warranty on it.
Just don't drop it!!

Found it to be very inaccuarate

Bought this thermometer online very excited because my daughter hates having her temperature taken. Found that there was about 1 degree difference between reading which I thought was just too inaccurate. It is easy to use though.
Easy to use, fairly quick measurement
Too inaccurate for me.

Value for money is just not there

We found that to position and move the device according to the instructions accurately enough to get good consistent reading was difficult while bub was trying to see what we were doing.

When we thought we had the correct technique repeated readings varied too much for our liking.

At around $100AUD we expected better.

In the end we purchasing a much cheaper Homedics Ear Thermometer and are happy with it.
No touch seemed like a good idea at the time.
Expensive, difficult to use, continuous beeping while taking reading distracts baby

Easy to use, no tantrums/ tears. Have to use your common sense when using it. I take the average of 3-4 readings and other signs and symptoms into account.
My baby loves having his temperature taken and smiles when the beeping sound states the reading is finished. No tears or trauma involved. Takes very little time and only 9 seconds before you can take another reading.
It can be annoyingly inaccurate- which is not a great thing when you want to use the reading to decide what action to take next.

great item easy to use well worth the money with children but when it says a temperature I always check it with a traditionl thermometer to make sure I'm not freaking out over nothing.
But I love not having to wake my child to take a temperarture and fight with her to keep the traditional one under her arm as this can take up to five minutes of struggling with her to get a result compared to 2.5 seconds!
easy to use, dont have to wake child, also give room temperature.
can be sometimes 0.5 of a degree out so have to always consider this.

My thermometer keeps taking different readings. A couple days ago my son was rushed to the hospital with croup. I went out and bought this thermometer to monitor his temps at home. I tried to use it and it kept telling me his temp was in the green zone though he felt hot. After acouple of tries on him I used ot on myself and it went to the red and was telling me I was close to fever. The next try on myself it read back in the green. Starting to get worried now...1 for the safety of my family in relying on this unit and 2, because it costed quite alot of money for our household. Who do I contact if this unit is faulty?

This definitely sounds like a faulty unit! I know they are not completely accurate but this is extreme. I would definitely contact the manufacturer and/or return to where you purchased it from. I hope your son is ok xx
