Saved my sanity over summer!
This is one excellent little portable air conditioner! It is reasonably portable (its heavy but on wheels) and comes with a window tube kit which you need to vent outside. Thats means you have to set it up near a window to use it. The hot air goes outside and the cool air comes out the front. It really is cool too! Not lukewarm like those evaporative coolers. It was easily able to bring my hot bedroom down to bearable levels and saved my sanity over summer. I could sleep as I found the noise relaxing but it bothered my wife a bit. Good machine!

Top level portable cooling
We knew exactly which model to but due to extensive research - the Piu 16. This is one of a few portables that can actually cool a normal sized room on a hot day - most of them claim to but fall short. The Piu met our expectations head on and did excellent service. It comes with a little remote but we didn't bother with that. Just used the switch on the machine. Powerful solid cooling - really really good and relatively quiet too. They are all noisy but this one isnt too bad. Overall I recommend this if you must have a portable.. its very good.

Portable Air-Con In Our Bedroom
We used this most of the time in our bedroom and it did an admiral job. You just hook the window pipes up and away you go! It even come with a simple remote control so I can turn it off and on without getting out of bed. It put out more cold air than I expected from such a neat little machine and was not too noisy - I could sleep with it on just fine. Good unit!

Does A Great Job In Larger Sapces
We got this after careful research as we have a lounge room that just heats up. It handles a larger space no problem at all and was a pleasure to sit in front of during the summer. It has innovative technology that means instead of having to empty the tank it mists the water into the window hot air pipe. It comes with a not bad remote and a window kit. Overall its expensive but is does a good job

Survived the summer
Knocked a star off because of the noise/dry vacuum feeling, but it can become white noise after a while (to block out neighbours' parties/flight path). I am not good at assembling, but had no problems with my (sash) window and I didn't remove or have to cut the flyscreen either. I used electrical tape and cardboard for the gaps. I move the unit from room to room and shut the door to keep a cool temp. Sometimes I can't be bothered moving it and am still able to cool my entire bedroom/kitchen/living (small 1 bedder) to a reasonable temp, and this...Read more
is with the PIU 12. Door snakes help and overhead ceiling fans improve performance. It really does cool on a hot day- especially a single room. It means I can stay home or do work in the evenings without escaping to a library or my car or a shopping centre for heat relief. It doesn't take too long to cool a room either. I have a shower (door closed), go back in my bedroom and it is already very cool - even when the walls are still warm to the touch from those 40 degree days. I had been warned off portable a/cs because of their inefficiency and failure to work, and I now regret not buying one years ago. Yes, I would rather a split system or window unit, but these options are not possible for most renters. The Olimpia got me to sleep and survive through this extremely hot Sydney summer. Electricity bills weren't too bad, and I occasionally kept it on all night. Warning: may not work easily on those wind out/push out windows. The other kinds of windows should be fine.Similar opinion? Great for bedroom
As we have no internal cooling system at home I bought one of these units to cool the bedroom to make sleeping easier during the very hot Perth summer nights, and what a great unit it is. I put it on an hour or so before going to bed and come into a nice cool room prime for sleeping. Highly recommended :)

Great system for a studio apartment
Great little unit for smallish rooms or studio apartments.
Keeps my bedroom at around 20c in summer.
Easy to set up.
Just a bit confusing when a F l error message for filter cleaning pops up even when the filter is clean
This is a must product for them steamy summer days

So Good This Summer
My wife was bugging me to get one of these and I didn't realise just how effective these refrigerated models are. Wow, its really excellent. This transformed our bedroom from a summer hot box to pleasant and cool. Its well constructed, quite heavy for its size, easy to operate and comes with a remote control. You turn it on and within minutes you have lots of cool air. There are simple filters to clean and that's it for maintenance - no tanks to empty. A really great machine that is a lot better than I realised.

Wonderful Machine Works Very Well
This was recommended by a friend and it really is a great machine.
There are lots of portable air conditioners on the market and its hard to know which one to choose and which ones to avoid. Well, i can certainly say that the Olimpia Piu 16 is one of the good ones.
It produces buckets of freezing cold air and is just the antidote to a heatwave. You would not think something so small could be so effective. Its quite heavy for its size but its on wheels so moving it about is not too bad. You do need to get close to window as the hot air pipe is rather short. It's easy to clean and the filters just pop out. You wash them down and you are ready to ge. Very quick and easy.
I think this is a great little machine.

Great Machine Cools Our Lounge
We were recommended this Pui 16 after frustration with another brand of portable air conditioner. I must say its true! The Pui 16 really can cool the lounge room even on a 40+ day. The machine itself is very well built although the remote is a bit on the cheap side. It's pretty quiet for a portable too. One thing that we found was wrapping the hot exhaust tube with foil helped keep heat from bleeding back into the room.
There is no tank to empty as this very clever machine mists the water and send it outside with the hot air.
Overall this is one portable that actually works. Make sure you get the 16 model though. It's the most powerful one. Very happy with it,

Very nice to sit in front of but didn't cool the room. Might be okay if you only want to cool the house at night when it's cool outside anyway, but too noisy to use in a bedroom. The window kit was a bit useless but we have improvised. Average buy.

Good
Very good air conditioning, it cools the room pretty quickly on hot days, it is also not a big aircon so it does not take alot of space in the house. Highly recommend this aircon for everyone. Very easy to use and move around the house. Love this air con.

This is a good portable air conditioner for small small apartments. Although it does a good job at cooling down the room it’s in, the air fails to travel as far as it is advertised on the website. Additionally, the unit sometimes becomes get quite loud due to the compression of air.

This thing leaks more than a drunk at Christmas
The amount of water that comes out of this thing is insane. 2 litres a night at least when being used a fair bit. If you have a plug in, it won't make it through a night of operation. Does an ok job cooling, has defninitely saved us on some hot nights.
We can sleep with it on, so it's not too loud.
Not being able to direct the air is some crap.

Great for small apartments
This is a great portable air conditioner for rooms and small apartments. Although it does an excellent job at cooling down the room it’s in, the air fails to travel as far as advertised. Additionally, the unit can get quite loud at times due to the compression of air. The portability and easy installation make up for these issues however.

Works well and keeps me cool!!!
Purchased a 2nd hand PIU 12 unit from a friend recently and find it works really well in the small room I needed it for. I do find the hose somewhat restrictive ( the company says not to connect another to it) but its not a fan so doesn't need to blow air onto me so no biggie really.
I did see one review where someone commented on the fact that the air blows upwards as directed by a static vent...well of course...cold air drops so no point in being able to aim it low...bit of a 'duh' moment there!!
Don't find it uses too much power and ev...Read more
en though we have RC Air con which my hubby doesn't like me using because it is a power gobbler I can still keep myself cool with this little unit. Yes it is a little noisy but easy to tune out from (turn up the music ha ha) and I don't try to sleep with it so no problem for me there, but then that might be good to drown out the noisy neighbours and barking dogs. Only other issue but not problem...how do people use them in old houses with wind-out windows - which is what we have in the rest of the house - plus security screens? Luckily I have a sliding window in the room I use it in, but that might be an issue for some folks especially renters. Installation was easy using the window attachments but although a little heavy and awkward on carpet I don't need to move it around. Slides easily enough on hard floors. Do wonder though how you get the plug out to drain it...does it pull out or screw?? Its in very tight and we cant budge it either way...can anyone help us here please?Similar opinion? Excellent for small rooms
I purchased this for my daughters bedroom as our main airconditioner didnt reach her room.
It is an excellent unit. Keeps the room lovely and cold.
The unit itself is portable although i find it quite heavy myself to move to other bedrooms if needed so i keep ot in the one room.
It is a bit baulky so not really good for smaller rooms with not much floor space. Needs to be placed near a window for the hose to be placed out of.
I would say its a medium noise level. Its not quiet.
I am very happy with my purchase.
It wad quite expensive ( $899) but i did take into consideration that it was portable when i made the decision to purchase.

Below average
I bought this item one month back and i am not at all satisfied with it. The cooling is really bad, even if i keep the temperature at 18 degrees, the room does not cool. Plus its too noisy as well. Only plus side is i avoid the installation cost and mess.
