Easy to use in the summer
I am very satisfied with the unit's cooling performance. It is quite portable and easy for installation. It is just a bit loud, but is quieter than most of the portable unit. I recommend it to my friend and they like it in the summer as well. The price of the unit is ok as well.

Not bad at all
I was doing shift work and was sweating buckets during the heat wave in Queensland. I ended up going out and buying one of these units. It's a good bit better than what I thought it would be. It cools down my room quickly, and although it's loud compared to units in the walls, it does ok. It's not powerful enough to cool down a large living room without insulation and with leaky windows, which is understandable, but it's definitely a keeper for the bedroom. It's pretty easy to assemble and connect up as well.

Purchased Jan 2015 and still going strong -LOVE IT!
We purchased this unit in Jan 2015 for upstairs which is unbearably hot and stuffy in Summer. Very functional, reliable, cools our master bedroom very well, however, you need to put it on early morning for it to be at its most efficient. We also place a large fan a couple of meters in front towards the door to push the cold air towards other bedrooms - this works well. It is a little noisy - what portable air-con isn't? On the extreme hot nights we do run it during the night, however, earplugs will ensure a good night sleep. (FYI - When i...Read more
t flashes F1 code, this indicates to clean filter. Once cleaned, press and hold the ON button for 5 seconds, and it will clear the F1 code). Overall, a great purchase and definitely recommend it to others. No issues with leaking - however it is essential you ensure the plug is secured to avoid any unnecessary leaking. We also purchased ours from Good Guys - sales person was very knowledgeable and explained why it doesn't have oscillating features or movable vents - it is meant to direct the cool air in an upwards direction as hot air rises - this is main reason why good idea to put it on early morning when weather forecast is expecting hot day.Similar opinion? Mediocre
I actually liked this product for the price that I paid for. The actual air was surprisingly quite cool, I liked the product for the price I paid.
I upgraded to a split system later; but with that comes a higher price tag of around $2500/3000.
All in all I would rate this Olimpia GOOD.

Brilliant
I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, it was easy to set up and easy to move around from room to room, as I would have it in my bedroom at night when we were having heatwaves. Best thing I have bought in a very long time and can't do without it.

No Match for a 45° Day - Buy a Convair Instead
Final Edit 28th January 2018
Do not - DO NOT - waste your money on this over-priced Italian piece of garbage.
It's been a 40° day for 2 days running.
INSIDE my apartment the thermometer is showing 47° (!!!) (amazing I'm not dead) and this absolutely useless appliance is pumping out nothing but hot air. Even on “auto” it can't even detect that the indoor temperature is at FURNACE LEVELS and took a full 20 minutes before the compressor finally kicked in. By then it was far too late because, for the preceding 20 minutes it filled the room...Read more

great for the price
this model was a great portable air conditioner for the price I paid . most other models for the same KW were at least another hundred dollars . it was in stock and easily picked up . I would consider buying another one and also referring to family and friends .

Not great...
Does not cool the room - on all day and relatively small room still like a sauna. It is very, very noisy and it can't possibly be correct in its labelling of 'silent', unfortunately a waste of money. Better of getting proper air than this. It is easy to install and move around though.

Finally an effective portable A/C
After persevering for 3 years with an ineffective portable evaporative Airconditioner, we bought a Piu 12 which is perfect for our small unit, relatively quiet and can be moved around if needed. It works extremely well and is perfect on the very hot days providing great relief from the heat.

Excellent, Compatible, Fast turbo portable A/C
I am very satisfied with the product and the products performance.
Its fast reliable and efficient.
Easy to install but you only get 1 meter flexible hose. But no need to worry you can easily extend it by as long as you want. Just follow easy steps.
1) Go to Bunnings.
2) Buy 125mm duct pipe. (Silver in color/or any you can get)
3) Buy 100mm black rubber coupling one end to go inside your duct pipe and 2nd to cover the face of your flexible hose that you have got with the unit.
4) Buy 2 to 3 clamps 130mm to support the hoses in place. 1 fo...Read more

It's good but not the best.
First of all, i would like to say something about Olimpia. Olimpia make good products and not crappy ones. But if we talk about this particular product, i'd say that the product could've been better. The design of the product is not so good, the cooling is quite good but again i'd say that it's not the best in this price range so maybe you might want to try something else and not fall for this one.

Not good
We have a plu12 in a 3x3x2.8 room there is no direct sun light on the room the plu12 is set to 25 outside temperature is 32 room temp is 28 the fan in the plu12 has only one speed not like the other one we had this is the second one the old one was good in a bigger room and it would cool to 24
But the new one the fan has only one speed two meters from vent you feel nothing and they tell me nothing can be done so be it just like every other product on the market.

I'm in love with this Air conditioner
I love olimpia PIU models! !
I think they are the best models.
Not so expensive not so cheap..something in the middle.
I bought my unit second hand in the half price.
And from that day I don't care about hot days cause I have this god on my room !!
I have PIU 16 cause I really hate hot days but I believe that PIU 14 and PIU 12 are the same good as mine.
Your room will be cold like heaven with this unit. ...Read more

Best portable air con that will try to take on an Aussie summer!
With portable air cons you have to be a little realistic - you aren't going to get the power and efficiency of a split air or ducted system, and those would do much better on a 40 degree day. But this was the best unit I could find that was a) portable for my rental home, b) didnt have to be filled with water or emptied constantly, c) relatively low energy use d) cooled well.
The 12 model is good for a small-med bedroom or room where you can close the door. It has a timer on or off setting which is really handy, and so far it's the best uni...Read more
t I've come across that will reduce the temp of our west facing bedroom on a 35-40 degree day. Honestly, I'm not sure if there is a portable unit built that would work on a 40+ degree day! To ensure it can cool efficiently on hot days I've had to make sure it was turned on turbo a couple of hours BEFORE the temp hits max, and from that time the unit has a head start at cooling. It didn't get to the set temp of 22 -- the compressor tried but it just stays on - but it did cool to about 24 which was plenty good when you're melting in the summer heat. It also had a dehumidifier mode which is handy when it gets humid and stuffy but it's not necessarily hot. Some of the modes are hard to figure out - the manual can be found online and demystifies it with some reading.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Bought secondhand but works fine - just doesn't cool room
Bought today off Gumtree. Everything is working it seems - compressor kicked in and air is coming out cool. However, I've had it going for three hours now in my small bedroom and the temp in there is unchanged. Yes I have sealed up the window vent. It would help if I could at least aim the air at the bed but the vent is angled upwards and the cool air just seems to disappear. It is 38C today but that is what I needed an air con for - the stinking hot days in Perth. I'll keep it going for a few more hours, but seem to just be wasting a lot of...Read more
money on electricity at the moment for no result. I think it is pretty quiet for a portable air con but its larger size also makes it a bit heavier. All of which is irrelevant if it can't cool my room!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Okay though nothing special...
I purchased the olympia splendid piu 14 for summertime when a fan just wasnt cutting it anymore. Installation is quite easy, just attach the big pipe to the air con and then to the attachments that go onto the window. I wish i could just turn the system on when its hot though i have to open the window and attach the whole attachments to the window and then im ready to go. Its easily portable from room to room if need be. I have a 2 bedroom unit and the system stays in my lounge room. I don't feel it cools any other room down only the lounge if...Read more
anything the kitchen may be a little cooler. In 40 degree weather we have to shut all the doors in the lounge and my partner still stands in front of it. Sometimes we have tried to turn it up even though its on the highest level. Also as soon as you turn it off its back to being mega hot again. The sound is loud but not to the point where its annoying or noticible and tv can still be heard more than fine. I wouldn't purchase again i would much prefer a wall unit or if i had to again get a portable unit it would be something different. In my opinion and my partners it just doesnt cut it on those 40 degree days.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Very unhappy
I bought this unit about 2 years ago. It is pretty easy to install just a pipe and a window kit. Turned it on in a 16 sq m room and waited for the results. It took hours and hours to drop the temp even a few degrees. Did exactly what the instructions said. I even sealed the room making sure that no hot air could enter from outside. I was disappointed but i thought that most of the portable ones would work the same.
I tried it the same night and it did drop the temp a bit easier (given it was cooler) but the noise was unbelievable. That's wha...Read more
t got me. They advertise it as "Silent". Literally the biggest joke ever. You must be genuinely deaf to call that silent. I felt like i was fooled by a marketing person cause that was the only reason I choose that brand. After a few days of operation the motor started to rattle adding an extra layer of discomfort on top of the horrible sound. At that time i decided to keep it a bit more since i had 5 years warranty. Coming next summer i got it out of storage and installed it again. I was not ready for such a bad surprise. The efficiency dropped like never before. I would run it for hours and hours and the difference would be only 2 to 3 degrees from what was outside. Chewing up energy for no reason. Reading other peoples reviews it looks like the company made a bad batch that had some serious issues. Anyway, I returned it to the good guys and they were happy to give me store credit. I choose an other brand.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
