just ok, as expected
as told by many others, it is quite noisy (similar to a large exhaust fan running) and only reduce the temperature by ~2 degrees after 1 hour. I wrapped aluminium insulated bubble wrap around the exhaust pipe to reduce heat in the room. as it sucks in air from other rooms, the hot air goes to other rooms from outside - other rooms become hotter. after turning off the air con, the room heats up again after around 2 hours (provided good insulation in place).

Best value for money cooler
I bought this unit last summer about 12mths ago for my bedroom and used it every night until winter and it works beautifully. I have read alot of negative reviews of this product and don't agree. The only negative i have is the bit of noise it makes but it doesn't out way the price and performance for my needs in my bedroom. Makes me wonder if maybe these negative people have actually installed the exhaust vent out the window. I did and sealed the whole vent into the window gap and hose out of the unit with $10 duct tape from bunnings. Very happy thanks harvey norman.

Awesome little unit!
I bought this for a small pop top retro caravan and didn't want to make any holes in the van to accommodate air conditioning...it could easily cool the van on a hot day,was quiet enough not to be obtrusive but better still able to be powered by our little 1500w generator...so we'll be able to stay cool when free camping!!! For our needs this aircon is totally perfect...small and light (22kg) and light on power consumption too. Cooled the van very quickly too on a 36 degree day to around 24 degrees in about 15 minutes!!!

Portable aircon
I love this aircon... As I have a small room it's the perfect aircon to cool the room... Even on very hot days it cools the room to a nice temp... It is very noisy... But you can put up with noise as it works well to cool the room.
Reliable, good price
A little noisy

Don't buy this type of portable
This type of portable is air cooled and has a single hose which expels hot air from the room. Its a fundamentally bad design. It has to use already cooled air from the room to cool the heated element in the air conditioner.
And there is a net expulsion of air from the room, and therefore the room is at negative pressure and starts to suck in air from under door gaps, window gaps, etc. The end the result is - the air conditioner doesn't cool the room much even though it seems to be doing a lot of work..
My suggestion - buy a split system if u can, otherwise buy a water cooled portable.
Cheap
Not effective at cooling room, only cooled by ~ 2 deg C, thats not nearly enough on a hot day.

A Good Enough Portable Air Con for a 4mx3m Room
One of the most important things I lernt while looking into cooling system that could get a small room too cool down was the challenges you face when trying too cool a room down in the first place.
Australia in parts such as Perth has one of most extream forms of weather. From December To Febuary temperatures can reach as high as 40 degreese. I dont know about you but if you live in a house share and your paying $160 a week there is a good chance that your going to suffer. There is of cause visiting the local shopping centre or store and han...Read more
g around in a nice professional circular air con system. No sooner or later I had too get something too cool my room down. I looked into the water air coolers that are known by brands such as Convair which do some very good air coolers. They are crossed between an air con system and a standard water converter that transforms water into cooler air. These are def worth looking into if you just want something cool blowing at your body. However if you need to drop the rooms temperature completely then I wouldnt get them for that purpose. Ok too the point, My farther has some good expereince with air con systems and he told me that if your going to want too cool the room down you need too get a heat exchanger or in other words a Portable Air con system that has a heat vented tube. At first I was a bit put off by this idea because I thought well that sounds expensive and its not like I can rip out some walls since I dont own the place I am living in. The idea is more simpler than it sounds. Basically the portable air con unit has a heat tube at the back that you connect from the air con system, which then attaches too the window and blows hot air outside and cold air in side. The restult after 30-40 mins is a much cooler room. An extream weather is going too need a fairly extream solution. The Omega Altise 10,000 BTU is a good system for 4m x 3m room - what I would advise is that dont expect a small air con system like this too cool down a much bigger room in the same time frame. I would get a air con that is good enough for the room size. You will need to ask the member of staff at the shop to advise you this because this is were i saved money. With my room only being 4m x 3m its known that a smaller room size will cool down quicker than a lager room so get a air con system powerfull enough too do the Job.Similar opinion? Hi I was told by the sales
Consultant you don’t need to empty the water from this u it. That seems incorrect with the comments above. Also the fan grate is only half of the unit the other half of the fan grate is solid why is this. I’m not very happy with this purchase from Good Guys

Dehumidifier function will need water to be emptied, you will get a notification and unit shuts off..fan grille is designed for that specific airflow iam guessing.

This machine has an auto-water-evaporating system. Condensed-water
cycle is used to cool down the condenser, which not only improves
cooling efficiency, but also saves energy.
If inner water tank is full, “W.F” indicator will flashed on the screen, af ter 8
seconds the machine goes into standby mode, the buzzer beeps, the
compressor stops and all keys are invalid.
Pull out the plug to drain out water, power off the machine and restart it, the machine will run normall

ts is separate. Also the hot part of the unit is on the outside of the wall. The portable aircon by comparison remains a warm piece of equipment sitting in the room, long after it is switched off. I believe portables have their place, as they are useful in rented premises where there are no other options.
