Does the adjustable regulator valve need to be fully submerged or can it sit half way out of water

The small "flap" that the adjuster knob stiffens or releases to control the flow needs to be below the waterline. If it's not it will suck air into the filter system. The adjuster knob can sit out of the water.

Thank you Grant.
I got it all sorted on my own.... working like a champion now. I was very proud of myself haha

The Hammerhead in my concrete pool regularly comes up the side of the pool and stops above the waterline, sucking air for about 30 secs. until it falls back into the water and does nothing until the air goes through the system and begins to function normally again. Any ideas on how I can fix this ?
Thanks

This is usually what happens when there's too much suction. Use your flow gauge to check. To reduce the amount of suction, turn the adjustable regulator valve until the suction is within the "Maximum" and "Minimum" range.

Ok,thanks Grant.I'll adjust that & see if it behaves itself. Im new to this pool maintenance thing so its a bit of a learning curve.

Hey Ross. Adjusting suction didn't seem to help mine. Instead I've now put one of the provided weights onto the first piece of hose closest to the suction head and it about 95% successful with the out of water issue now very rare. Its a bit of trial and error to find the right spot on the piece of hose.

Our Onga hammerhead is 5 years old now and the skirt has started to fall off. Nothing looks broken, probably just wear and tear. Do we need to replace the skirt or wear foot pad? Thanks, Fiona

I have a 15 m by 2.5 pool. I have put the hammerhead in and it works perfectly, for a short while, then it stops moving. It looks as though the flap is not sitting flush on the bottom. I have read putting weights on it but not keen to do that. It looks like it is working as it is jolting but it doesnt move. I then have to go and move it and it works for a while and then gets stuck again. Help!

We have and still like the hammerhead. My review compares it to the Barracuda. No idea on the Rebel, look at reviews that's what most of us do. Look for those that tell you why they gave their score. Some fools give the product 1 star because they didn't like the shop they bought it from - that is not a product review.

Never happened to me and I had 2 now for 5+ years. The only thing I can think of is that the head is somehow jammed. Make sure that the head can freely rotate around the pipe without the pipe twisting.

I have gums and palms around the pool, it does what it can and the only time it chokes and needs a hand is when an occasinal palm seed is just the right size (~2cm) to get stuck otherwise it just keeps on going. The barracuda was hopeless needing weekly intervention and cost a fortune in spare parts. I just fitted new skirt and guides to my hammerhead after 6 years as it was not sticking to the bottom - good as new..

I have the hammerhead and it gets stuck in the corners all the time. It would work so well if it didn't get stuck. I have a deflector on it but it flies up one end and gets stuck, pull it out gets stuck in the next corner. It drives me nuts I have to keep moving it around the pool. Has anyone any suggestions? My pool is a new fibreglass pool 9.4x4.2m rectangle.
thanks

Have you tried turning down the pressure on the flow control valve. I had to wind my back as it did get stuck when there was too much pressure from the filter pump. You also may have to adjust the position of the hose float and the weight. It did take me some time to fine tune all of he variables.

Hi Aimm may I suggest that you put a flow direction changer which is available from pool shops. This piece of plastic which has 2 metal hooks on it goes into the pool outlet and can redirect the water to the surface of the pool that makes the flow on the surface which directs the hose of the cleaner. I had that problem with my last cleaner which was a Baracuda. I have not had that problem or any others with the Hammerhead.

Does it fit the plate I have for the kreepy krawly?? Do the hoses have weights on them?

I anticipate that you are talking about the plate which covers the skimmer box of your pool. The cleaner comes with an universal adaptor which should fit. With the 10 suction hoses you will receive 2 weights. Similar to your kreepy crawly they would have to be adjusted. Just use one first and then if required a second one. Its all trail and error - it just take some time. I adjusted the weight and waited a day - checked it and changed it. After a week it cleaned my whole pool and my pool has a difficult triangular shape. And don't forget - if your kreepy crawly hoses are still good - just continue using them and keep the new ones as a spare - they are all the same.
Best regards,
Rudi

I am looking at purchasing a Onga Hammerhead - we have a above ground vinyl pool. Just wondering how it goes on vinyl and if it gets caught on the ladder?

Hello
I have to apologise but unfortunately I cannot answer this question. I do think that a ladder is an issue for many suction cleaner - because they can move only backwards. But I know the are some which look similar to a square box with moving paddles for walking and they have some sort of flippers on the side. Check out and investigate the Hayward range of pool cleaners.

We have purchased an Onga hammerhead, so far we have been very disappointed with its performance. It does not clean the whole pool it only cleans thedeep end of the pool. We would appreciate Suggestions as to where we maybe going wrong? We have placed the weights in the positions that has been suggested in the booklet.

Hi Mary
Have you moved the eyeballs (return water from filter) facing downwards to allow hammerhead to not fight against the push back to the skimmer box at the waterline, the pipes need to be measured try putting less or more and look at its performance, good luck

Mine took a little serving up
Make sure your pressure is right, & then keep adjusting the water outlet returns
You also need to play with the weights
After that, which took very little time, mine works great
I have a rectangular fibreglass pool
