Wouldn’t recommend
I wouldn’t recommend Openpay at all, I had to cancel a credit card due to it being stolen, they attempted to draw my payment from my bank account and couldn’t get it straight away coz the card was cancelled so they slapped on a late fee straight away, it only took me a few hours from them trying to draw the repayment and me paying the money back but wouldn’t waive the late fee, come on a few hours late, it wasn’t as if it was a day late, and I had a legit reason but they didn’t care

Would not recommend.
Would not recommend, unlike Afterpay who understandbly initially give small limits and eventually give up $2000 credit to you if your payment history is impeccable after a few deals, Openpay does not . They will never raise your limit until you submit to a credit check which unlike borrowing for appreciating assets like housing, credit checks from the like of Openpay will negatively affect your credit score. It's bizarre that they don't increase limits like Afterpay and it's probably why Afterpay is the undisputed king of BNPL and subsequently made many of their shareholders very wealthy.

Risk Audit - is this a scam?
I've used Openpay a few times and always paid on time or before due dates. I went to the app to make a payment and it told me my account was unavailable due to a risk audit. I called to find out what on earth this was. I was told that the risk team would call me back. I then received an email that told me there was a risk audit and I needed to provide 100 points of identification (the normal id requirements you are asked for when opening a bank account etc) - via email!!! They wanted a photo of me holding my id - and gave a photo example of ...Read more
somebody holding their drivers licence. The email was badly written with a couple of typos/grammatical/spelling errors so I emailed them and said I wasn't prepared to email this information. No response the next day so I called again to see if it was real and to express my concern re security of sending this sort of info via email - it felt like an identity theft scam even more given the non response to my email. I was advised that I couldn't talk to the risk team as they are "non-customer facing". I felt for the poor person I was talking to - he was clearly saying what he'd been scripted and didn't know anything about the risk audit (why, how etc). He told me their servers were very secure - not all that helpful. I asked if there was anyone I could talk to because I really felt they were in dangerous water here by asking for that information via email without any security. No was the answer (to be fair he offered his supervisor but I didnt think they would be any more across the issue). Still waiting for an email. Still can't use my account. No big deal because I have other options but it is such bad business practice. Predict Openpay being out of business within 12 months.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

My car service is done!.
My car needed major service, had gearbox done, new tyres from jax tyres on Openpay, got a new car battery From Bunnings . Ignition sensor, crank angle sensor, new breaks from West Point autos. Pay on time as agreed and you won’t get hit with fees. Best to use for emergencies only like I am. I highly recommend Openpay.

Underhanded, not transparent
You only find out afterwards that there are fees they take out. I found out tonight when I made my furst repayment, a 50c charge is added on each repayment. Tomorrow I will be making formal complaints about this company to Consumer Affairs, ACCC and ASIC and anywhere else that will warn people about this company. Very annoyed, annoyed enough to spend an hour or two of my time alerting authorities and also the public. Never again.

It sucks
Open pay honestly sucks. I tried to buy a mattress and it said I had $750 available so I put in my credit card details.. clicked pay and thought I was actually purchasing the item. No. They took $180 out of my account no purchase was actually made.. a big ‘credit check required’ came up on the screen but didn’t take me to a window. Logged into my account and nothing. Not purchase history and only $350 available for purchases. So they’ve just taken money out for no reason.. and told me 5-10 days until the BANK can return funds.

It was easy to set up and I like that I can make fortnightly payments and have my item immediately. I also like that I can make a payment early.

Love it, but....
Day late on one payment of prior plan. Took 2.5 hours at a store to work out they had my account on hold. Notification not received. Bit poor that I wasn’t notified

So simple
Openpay is so easy to set up and use.
Unlike Afterpay the repayments are smaller and over a longer period.
Great for unexpected emergencies eg: car services ect
As long as you pay what’s expected on the due date you can’t wrong.
Highly recommended

Don’t use
Only use open pay if no other option available to you. Customer service are rude and lie to you. I missed a payment due to being on holiday and forgot to transfer the money into the correct account (totally my fault I know) but once I realised I rectified and made full payment (was only $39.80 over due), they ensured me once I paid the plan I could use open pay again. I paid the whole plan in full and they then advised I could no longer use open pay unless I wrote to them with a good enough reason. I had used open pay a few times and paid off a...Read more
few plans and was treated this way after one missed payment. I politely thanked them for their service and asked to close account. Have used zippay instead. They may charge $6 a month but they aren’t rude like this. Use other payment services before this one if you can :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good for Bunnings, Customer Service is lacking
Overall solid, heard reviews about affecting credit scores, my limit never increases after plans complete despite always being on time, and have completed over 15 so far.
Customer Service in the call centre is generic and not very helpful. Fledgling company still and not worked out their Customer Service Model, loves taking cash and fees if people are late looking at the other reviews, not as good as Afterpay, but a good alternative.
