Froothie Optimum 9400 Blender
I've had my Froothie Optimum 9400 now for over 2 years and I'm just as happy with it as when it first arrived. It is used on a daily basis to make my morning smoothies and hasn't missed a beat. The engaging drive mechanism is positive and strong unlike some of the "pod" type blenders that friends have had. The motor is powerful and easily cuts through and blends hard fruits and pulverises ice with no problem. I would highly recommend this Froothie unit to anybody looking for a really great blender that is robust and powerful.

Use this once or twice every day
Often use vegetables like kale and silverbeet which I found harder to juice and it is always perfect. Then use it for banana oat pancakes done in seconds. Cauliflower rice again no problems. Easy to clean makes some noise but is quick. Ever since I bought it can't get enough.

Just Brilliant!!!!!!!!
I look at my 9400 as a beautiful piece of German precision engineering, I know it's not made in Germany. Has not missed a beat in the two years I have had the machine. Initially I bought the machine to make healthy smoothies, that soon gave way to not so healthy, milk, but beautiful

Use it just about every day
I am very happy with my purchase almost a year ago now. Have had no problems. I would one day like to buy the smaller jug that goes with it, as often I'm only making small quantities.
I made this purchase using the PayPal laybuy option which was fantastic to work with my budget. Highly recommend.

Well designed machine, performs as advertised
I've had the unit for over 2 years now, hasn't caused any problems. Had it trip once, when i was trying to mix some dough that was too thick.
Smoothies - perfect. Sometimes materials will stick, a couple of knocks or a tamp as a last resort fixes it.
The unit doesn't look as fancy as the obvious competition. But personally i much prefer something that is well built as it certainly is, and performs just as well if not better. The price is a massive bonus.
Only pity is having to buy sight unseen for most people, with little local shop support.
All in all, i recommend the unit to anyone who still appreciated well designed equipment.

Blends great but keep the box
Like most others, did plenty of research before dropping over $500 on a blender and the 9400 more than does the job for our blending needs.
To subtly gloat about how great our life is I'll mention that we live in a tropical area with papaya trees in our back yard and mango trees lining the streets, so our freezer is packed with "frozen goodness", which the 9400 blitzes into delicious smoothies on a regular basis. Frozen mango, papaya and banana with a bit of milk works a treat, though if too thick does require a bit of input from the tamper. ...Read more

One year on and still loving it
It's been well over a year now and I still love my Optimum 9400 as much as ever. I originally was comparing it to a Nutribullet because that's what everyone was telling me was the bee's knees for smoothies but the Optimum was sooo much better. I have reasonably strong hands but when I used someone else's Nutribullet I found it too hard to undo. Also if I blended anything hot, it created a suction that was impossible for me to undo. I love the way I can just put warm water and a bit of detergent in the Optimum 9400 and turn it on for a few seco...Read more
nds and the blades are all clean. It's a pest to do that with a Nutribullet because you have to tighten it well and when I used warm water the suction meant I couldn't get it undone. It had to go in the dishwasher or fiddle with a brush. I've used my Optimum 9400 for heaps of different things: smoothies, cauli rice, nut butters (250g works perfectly, but more is a pest), various breakfast recipes, banana pancakes, and vegies for soups. I find to chop vegies for soups I need to use a relatively small quantity at a time, because more ends up blended rather than chopped but I work around that - after all, it is a blender! I still love my Optimum 9400 and haven't had an ounce of problem with it. (Except once it did overheat and cut out on me when I blended too many almonds for my almond butter, but it cooled down and re-set just fine. I now do batches of 250g which is perfect).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best blender we have ever owned
Great unit can't fault it, my wife mainly uses it, she went though 3 top of the range Brevelle blenders in the past 6 years all failed due to seizing parts, This unit is powerful, easy to clean and is going strong.

Excellent Blender
After considerable looking around for a good blender at an affordable price I finally settled on this one and haven't regretted it once since the day it arrived. I use it nearly every day mostly for smoothies, milkshakes, soups and occasionally for a recipe like rum balls or grinding coffee beans. Green smoothies were my biggest concern as other blenders have left them chunky and chewy and I could never add ice so I just about gave up on them, but the Optimum has always been smooth and consistent. I can now add as much ice or frozen fruit as I like and it blends it effortlessly in seconds. It is noisy but no more than a blender with a less powerful motor.

Premium quality and value for money
I've been using my Optimum9400 for two years now alongside my Thermomix. I use my optimum blender every single day for smoothies and weekly for hummus. I prefer the blender for banana ice cream and smoothies over the Thermomix. I'd definitely recommend the 9400. When blending things like nuts for but butters etc, the blender automatically shuts off before getting too hot and burning out which is a great feature. Super sharp blades day after day without any problems, such impeccable quality and excellent customer service. A little noisy but comparative with other blenders. My only complaint is there isn't a holder for the tamper, that would be great.

Great Blender
I bought this blender after reading all the reviews on this site, initially to make green smoothies, and I've used it almost daily for the past year. What I love is that it blends really well; I can pack the jug with tough greens like kale (stalk removed) and lots of frozen fruit and I end up with a delicious smoothie with no bits in under a minute. It's great for blending soups, mixing pancake batters and anything that has a more liquid consistency. It's also fantastic for making flours from nuts and grains in just a few pulses and I do this r...Read more
egularly. What I don't like is making sticky mixtures in the regular jug as it's REALLY difficult to get the mixture out from the bottom of the jug and around the 6 blades. Also you can't make a small amount as it flicks to the sides away from the blades. The new optional jug may be a better option if you want to make things like nut butters or energy balls but as I now have other appliances to make these in I haven't bothered to buy one. I've purchased another 4 of these blenders for family and friends and they've all been happy with theirs as well, and not had any problems, though they don't use them as extensively as I do. The only mishap I've had with mine is that I tripped it while trying to make hummus when I first got it, but the Froothie staff were very helpful and it had only overheated.Similar opinion? Poor experience with the Optimum 9400
After a lot of research, we decided to purchase Froothie's Optimum 9400 as the reviews seemed good and we strive to support Australian companies.
Within the first few months, the unit failed, shorting and tripping our home's safety switch. After a number of interactions with support (to convince them we hadn't been misusing the product), we then had to package the unit and send it back - it was replaced and our only cost was postage.
Shortly after receiving the new unit, the drive socket failed (the part connecting the motor in the base ...Read more
within the jug unit). Return of the unit was not required this time, but we did have to pay for the replacement part to continue using the blender. We were wary of using the blender for difficult tasks after this and have treated it with kid gloves, but now after another year of light use, the bearings in the jug unit have failed, spewing ball bearings and rendering it unusable again. Support have kindly informed us that the jug unit doesn't come with the long warranty of the base unit and the only way the bearing could have failed is by various different means of misuse, none of which are actually the case here. The only option we've been offered is to spend more money for replacement parts, otherwise known as throwing good money after bad. It's interesting to note that any negative reviews here are always answered with the idea that you've been unlucky and your unit "must be faulty". Support generally try to blame your use of the blender for any issues that arise too, which is frustrating when we all we want to do is have a reliable blender to serve our daily needs. We've now done what we should have done when we first invested in a blender and ordered a Vitamix.1 comment

Love this Blender!
I purchased this blender in March 2016 after doing a lot of research on the more powerful blenders on the market. I cannot say enough good things about the 9400. It blends anything in seconds! I use this blender multiple times most days. It's extremely easy to clean, sturdy and aesthetically pleasing so it's fine to store on the counter top. It is pretty loud, but no louder than any other blender I have used. In terms of what it can blend, nuts, ice, frozen banana/berries, veggies for soups etc etc. There really isn't anything it cannot blend. ...Read more
If it struggles a little you can use the tamper tool, but I hardly ever have to. I have found the staff at Froothie to be extremely helpful. I would recommend this blender to anyone willing to listen to me rave about a blender! :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's alright
This blender is ok. It shuts off whenever I try to do something like crush nuts or mix something slightly thick. It is not what I was hoping it was. It blends soups and smoothies ok, but a $30 blender can do this too...

So easy and so powerful
I started green smoothies about 9 months ago and have been using a Kenwood blender which came as part of a food processor. Haven't used too many blenders in my life i thought that how the Kenwood behaved was just how a normal blender would including being very noisy and chewy smoothies.
Then the Kenwood started to leak, and then one morning it just went everywhere and i didn't want to damage the base any further as still want to use the processor attachment with it. So decided to start shopping around.
Asked a few people at work and someone vou...Read more

Great machine! Great value!
I purchased a refurbished Optimum 9400 from the Froothie website. I was told the refurbished machines are the ones they use for product demos and they have only been used 20-30 times before they are being sold. The machine arrived in perfect condition, everything was like new, if I didn't know it had been used I wouldn't have been able to tell. I love the machine, everything is very well made, it's simple and easy to use, no high tech electric functions means not much can go wrong or break in the future. The smoothies come out beautifully! Very happy! Highly recommended!

Industrial brutal but just works
The optimum 9400 is basically a commercial machine. If it was actually designed then it was done by an engineer. So when you get to understand the controls it is beautifully functional - but not beautiful unless you like industrial-brutal. It is big – the base/motor contains a very powerful motor of around double the volume of the Sunbeam Café Series blender that it replaced. The blades are positioned around 2cm above the base so realistically you wouldn’t want to try and prepare anything less than around 500ml. If you want to display it as par...Read more
t of your normal kitchen then forget it – it’s simply too big and visually overpowering. If you want to chop small items get a cheap stick mixer/chopper from any mass outlet. Live with its industrial-brutal design and its 500ml minimum content and it works brilliantly. My favourite summer drink is simply to empty a tray of icecubes in, add half a litre of milk and whatever flavourings (fruit, syrup etc) I want, run it for 20 seconds or so to smash the ice then add a scoop or two of icecream and a five second run (the icecream will spread through the ice slush but not melt) and you’ve got a very refreshing, very creamy, frozen slush/milkshake. My daughter uses it for smoothies .. whatever mixture of fruit and vegetables and seeds etc strikes her fancy. All reduce to something she drinks and claims delicious – I’m a little cynical.. It wasn’t cheap but in the two years we’ve had it there wouldn’t have been more than a handful of days when it wasn’t used. It’s one of those rare devices that you worry about the price up front then, after you’ve used it for a while, it becomes so much a part of your life that you can’t remember how much you paid.Similar opinion? Used every other day to make nut milk and it's a dream
I am so glad I bought this blender. Had it for about a year, use it regularly and sometimes with quite hard things that gives the blades/motor a work out but she always comes through! Blend frozen fruit for kids ice-cream, make nut milk, general puréeing, raw treats. Have shorted out the motor a couple of times but there's a trip switch at the bottom and after giving it a bit of time to cool down it's been fine.
I have recommended this blender to all my friends, two of them have also bought it and are very happy also.
My only criticism would be that it has a plastic jug which after a year of being battered around with nuts, is a bit scuffed. A glass jug would be ideal.

Optimum 9400
It seems OK, maybe I was expecting big things. I find if blending ice it seems to struggle getting going. Also seem to have to use the stick a lot to get everything moving to try to blend up. Maybe am use to a more heavy duty commercial machine which seem to have no problems blitzing everything without any input from me.

Hi Froothie,
With your 9400 refurbished machines what warranty do they come with. I see jug, bearings and blades need replacing at differing intervals. Are these covered? What generation are the refurbished blenders on the market now?

Hi there,
I have an Optimum 9400 first gen about 6 years old and am on my second jug and blade assembly. Had to replace the first a few years back as it was leaking underneath and producing a rusty fluid and now the second jug is doing the same. Is this able to be fixed and how would I go about this? Not wanting to pay $160 for a new jug every couple of years when it starts to rusts and leak. Thanks

Hi Morgan, Froothie has a lifetime warranty on the Optimum 9400 gen 1 I bought about 8 years ago. My blade assembly leaked recently and was replaced with a new one free of charge if you can show that you have used your equipment in the manner intended by answering a few questions. Have you tried contacting your place of purchase and asked for a replacement?
