Hi Blair. It most certainly can 'mince' meat. It will not be like the mince you get from the butcher but using the 'mincing strainer' you can put anything almost in there and it will come out 'minced'. I use my Oscar all the time for mincing. Hi Cmarie, ok the engine getting warm is normal. However in the manual it says do not run the juicer for more than 30 minutes at a time. Can you clarify if you could be using it for over 30 mins? The engine has to work really hard pressing the vegetables there for it can get warm. But if its getting hot very quickly please contact us at [email protected] and we can sort it out for you. Hi Jorra, do you mean Turmeric? Curcumin? Yes it really does stain, you can get most of the colour off but if you juice regularly it might leave a slight yellow/green tinge. I suggest you soak the front end in bicarb and vinegar with some warm water for a couple of hours and scrub. Turmeric is such a staining plant, the same happens if you juice a lot of Beets or carrots. It will have no bad affect on your juicer as long as you get most of the residue off on a regular basis there will be no mineral build up. This will help keep your juicer performing at its best. Hi Sue, the Oscar's are not made for pressing dry seeds only fruit and veg for juicing. However, it does make nut-butters, sorbets and noodles with the mincing screen. We do have another option to press oil using dehydrated seeds. The BioChef Vega Oil press, we have tested this on sesame and flax seeds, so the yield will depend on the oil content in your cumin seeds. I hope this has been helpful. Hi Maxine, thanks for you inquiry. Sounds yum. The best advise is to cut tomatoes into quarters and cold press them through the mincing strainer if you want to use the whole tomato for your pasta sauce. Pressing them through the juicing strainer will only leave you with the cold pressed tomato juice for a clearer drink which will be a lot thinner but delicious too. I would then recommend heating the sauce after woods. The juicer is not really designed for heat. This is why we dont recommend cleaning them in the dishwasher either. Hi Rod, thank you for your question. We currently have the Oscar DA-1000 cold press juicer available brand new on our website for the sale price of $469 (RRP$549). This would mean you would receive a 20 year warranty on the motor and 10 year warranty on the parts, as the warranty is unfortunately not transferable when purchasing a juicer second hand. Having said this, we are always more than happy to help you with the purchasing of parts should your juicer not be covered under warranty. The strainer changed to a newer version in 2016. You can determine what year model your juicer is by looking at the serial number. And yes you can order both versions of the strainer through us directly. Hi Greg, I wouldn't recommend cleaning the parts of your Oscar Neo DA 1000 in the dishwasher. The juicer does come with a cleaning brush inclusive and best results are achieved by rising the parts under cold water and cleaning with the brush. Hi Coletie, thank you for your review. In the past the Oscar juicers have indeed come with a meat mincing attachment however this is unfortunately not available for the current models. We do have reports of customers who use the mincing strainer provided with all current models for meat processing however the result is not the fine mince you would expect like that available from dedicated mincing products. This Oscar mincing strainer is more suited to processing pesto, sorbets and nut butters. The motor is a slightly sleeker design as well but other than this the functionality is the same as the very popular DA1000.
