Thrilled !
After reading all reviews, which can easily leave you confused, we settled on the OZITO.
What a great choice, it works like a dream and we could not be happier.
One tense moment when we pushed our luck with a larger branch, but followed instructions and the grinder reversed the branch straight out. (Need to loosen grinder adjustment first, which is not in the manual)
Highly recommended

Forget the Rest - Just buy one
Seriously this machine can make mince meat out of anything upto about 30-35mm and softer wood upto about 40mm. You will not go wrong at this price forget the rest, I was so close & quite happy to spend $1200. These expensive chippers are only designed for 40mm + branches and do not make suitable sized "mulch" for your gardens. The ozito grindes your excess up small enough for reuse in the garden no worries. I do 2-3 wheel barrows non stop no problem. Also has a thermo switch so you can safely use it for as long as you want without overheating the motor.

Every woman needs a mulcher!
Having purchased an Ozito chain saw 6months ago (every woman needs a chain saw too!! ), a mulcher seemed a perfect partner for it. I did a fair bit of research & the Ozito came out as good value for money. It was simple to put to together, & it's design makes it easy to move around. While it's not "silent", the noise won't annoy neighbours. Green prunings do need to be left for a few days to dry out before mulching. Some thicker prunings needed to be fed through 2/3 times. Irregularlly shaped branches had to be trimmed down or they got stuck. A good mulcher for the home gardener, with an average-sized garden. This woman is pleased!

Addictive Machine
We have had many different shredders from big Stihl Viking 8hp and medium Magnum Chopper, but this Ozito Silent Shredder beats them all hands down. Anything that won't fit goes as firewood, Really thin vines are green wasted, and everything else from eucalyptus branches to date palm fronds are successfully put through. Once or twice it has "stopped" but the reverse button solves the problem. We collect the mulch in an old recycling box. It is light enough for me (mild mannered over 60 female) to lug up and down stairs as we are on a steep hill....Read more
About 2-3 cm cubes for the dry stuff - ideal for the roses etc on the block. No back problems - satisfying "crunch, crunch" as it self feeds the cuttings etc. through. Excellent value for money, earned its keep in two days!!

Just purchased and amazing so far
Just purchased one of these and had a disappointing start when I was unable to assemble the unit due to a non-threaded bolt. Back to Bunnings for a replacement which was easily assembled and adjusted as per manual. Then it was down to work. We have numerous shrubs and small trees which generate a considerable pile of prunings from bottlebrush, grevillia, lily-pily, buckinghamia, macadamia etc etc. I was delighted at how the machine dealt with all of the material we put through it. Our old shredder is a spinning disk with chisel blades unit and ...Read more
I estimate that the Ozito got through the job in about half of the time with very few stops to clear minor clogging. Admittedly, most of the stuff was fresh, green and leafy but still went through very well. Less tiring too as it self feeds. I would watch it pull in a 2 metre long bottle brush branch (starting at about 25mm diam) with lots of “branchlets” and leaves all by itself and I kept saying “amazing”. With the old machine I would have to push it in and remove most of the minor branches for separate processing. Yes, some of the branches come out without being fully chopped up but they are crushed and cut. Yes,some twigs and leaves may come out almost unchanged. But a very large pile of cuttings comes down to a much, much smaller pile of great mulch (or a compact pile of rubbish for the bin or trailer if you need to dispose of it). All in all, very impressive machine at a pretty good price. Big improvement over the old blade chipper in ease of use (self feed, no blade sharpening required, straight through feed, less clogging, faster overall processing time). Now we will see how it continues to work and how durable it is. Hopefully won’t need the 2 year replacement warranty but nice to know it’s there. Self feed, straight through path, low noise, very effective, large wheels Minor factory defectSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Faulty unit
This unit would not shred properly. When I looked into the feeder I noticed that the mechanism was off-centre. Returned it and obtained a refund. I wouldn't bother again. Small shredders, in my experience, are not very useful. They take a very long time to mulch anything, block frequently and the blades blunt very quickly. That is why there are so many of them sold second-hand.
Nothing
Badly constructed, which meant it didn't work.

Works for me
Did a lot of on-line research before purchasing this machine & have been very happy with the purchase. Works best on thick sticks (eg eucalypt), making a great wood-chip mulch. Tends not to actually cut green / softer sticks but does crush & half cut them, making them suitable for putting in the compost or small enough to put in the bin. Some palm fronds have been shredded beautifully while others (probably greener) have just been crushed. Read of of this information before purchase, so wasn't surprised or disappointed. Quiet running. If ...Read more
a stick (usually a small piece) gets stuck it can be a bit hard to clear. The reverse function is handy & sometimes helps clear a blockage, but hard to get into the machine to manually clean. If a large piece becomes too much for the machine to handle, the automatic cut off is great. Love not having a lot of green waste to dispose of - most of it now goes back to the garden either directly as mulch or later as compost. Just about everything. Nothing - for a domestic machine.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Avoid!!
On the first day I used this machine, the cast aluminium plate that the blades rotate against broke in half making it useless... did I say "on the first day!!"
I carefully followed all instructions and was even limiting the max. branch size to about 25mm. I have read reviews of the Ryobi shredder that has a similar mechanism and there are several people who have had a very similar experience. It would appear that there is a problem with cheap aluminium parts not designed to do the job that the manufacturer claims.

Bit disappointing
Did a lot of on-line research & read the good reviews on here but have been a bit disappointed with mine. It does dry stuff fine & ok with woody material but anything green needs to be feed through 2 or 3 times. The blades crush rather than cut the material.
I do like the self feed mechaism but if something gets stuck or wound around the cutting drum its very difficult to get to with the head attached with three "winged" screws rather than Phillips Head. I had to use a long kitchen knife the free up the blade "drum" when material wrapped aroun...Read more

Excellent performance
Great unit, quiet and sturdy. Reasonable price. Does everything it claims. Works best on branches. Heavy duty but easy to maneuver on wheels. Would recommend for ppl in suburban bush land scenarios. Has helped me to take control of my backyard which opens on to natural reserve, so lots of forest matter.
Munches branches up to 40mm with ease. Auto feed is good. Munches bark, twigs and leave with ease. Good price and warranty.
Heavy. Feeder shute could be larger to make feeding easier. This is probably for safety reasons. It can get a bit blocked up with small leave and twigs but one big branch clears it out.

Best electric mulcher money can buy
I've written a lengthy review as I feel it important to be thorough, so please bear with me, but I hope that by the end you will find my review of some value.
When looking to purchase a mulcher/shredder/chipper, I was prepared to pay up to $1,500 to $2,000 as I needed whatever unit I purchased to do palm fronds. I have palms, huge palms, as in the fronds are around 8-10 meters long and have a butt that is about 1.5m long. I have about 20+ palm trees of assorted varieties and about 20+ various hardwood and other types of trees and shrubs.
The Ozito eats palms for breakfast, so long as you cut the butts off first with a pair of garden bypass loppers (big, long handled secateurs), a hand saw or a chainsaw. The butt you can feed through if you cut them into 2-3 strips lengthways, which you can do easily with a stanley knife to get started and then they just rip right down the full length. The reason it mulches fronds as oppose to other machines is because it works on a grinding blade system with only 1 moving part (it looks like a gearhead but with sharp ends) and the blade ends mulch the material as it is cut up against a steel plate. The specs say it can cut up to 40mm, which is why it has a 40mm wide feed opening. But as the feed opening is rectangular (40mm x full width of the machine), you can try to fit anything into it that is no more than 40mm across but up to say 60 - 65mm wide (i.e. oblong shaped branches) of medium density, green (freshly cut) branches. You could cut the opening from 40mm to 60mm to take round branches, but doing so will void the warranty.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good Value for the price
This is a cheap unit and I am quite impressed after a lot of use, it does do the smaller palm tree fronds like a Golden Cane but don't expect it to get the branch connection of the larger palms like a Alexandria palm or a coccus palm. I chop these down the center with a machete and then place in.
It also surprised me how well it can munch through a 30mm branch. It does require cleaning out of the exit chute sometimes if the branches have a lot of green leaves.
So if you have a few palms and 30mm branches to continuity deal with it is a go...Read more
od buy. Do try and mulch these dry as green materials will clog it up, I place all in a pile and if doing green branches do one green and throw in a dry one to clear it out. Reset system works well, basically it will grind up just about any dry item you can get through the feed slot, not all but 95% of it will go through (wet and dry) and if not ...it will auto shut off. I had some 7 mt Bamboo trunks to deal with, chopped off the branches, kept the main branches for garden stakes and mulched the rest, not one item went to the tip. That job alone was a full 6x4 high gate trailer load NOT going to the local dump, it is now all used in the garden...and that's the whole point, it saves trips to the green waste dump and has prevented me buying mulch has paid itself off in one year... actually one summer!Similar opinion? Top Muncher
Ozito.....hmmmm, I had some preconceived ideas. However, I have to admit, a pretty darn good shredder. Purchased it from Bunnings being $100 bucks cheaper than the similiar spec'd Ryobi. I had some tee trees that needed pruning, the branches are pretty tough, however the Ozito did exactly as the packaging said it would do, chomped up to 40mm. I also tested it on palm fronds, and once again I was pleasantly surprised at how well it performed.
Next I tried it out on an out of control hisbiscus, not so good, does not like green mushy stuff and...Read more
continually clogged the machine. However, I left the rest of the cuttings for a couple of weeks to dry out and after that it gobbled them up - no problems. Over all, very impressed. Excellent value for the price. Love the way it pulls the cuttings through, quiet and does everything it claims to do. Not so good on green mushy stuff, particularly vines..let them dry out or mix it into the shredder with some dry stuff.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Saves time, effort and space
Just used it once. Easy to assemble and adjust. Mulch 40mm branches to 30mmx20mmx6mm pieces, although had to feed it twice. Mulched 3 months worth of prunings in our small garden in 3 hours. Reduced our prunings from 3m x 3m x 0.5m pile to 1m x 1m x 0.2m mound. We have run out of things to mulch, but the saving in time, effort and space is well worth it. Just had to sort the prunings by size and adjust the blade to suit. Quieter than a lawn mower. Plastic mouth seems durable when self feeding y-shaped branches. Only jammed 3 times on larger branches, easy fix, just go in reverse.
Clean up our garden in a few hours.
Should have a dial knob instead of allen key to adjust the blade gap, for ease of use. Allen key easy to get lost

Time Saver
After having a shredder that was scary to use (noisy, fast spinning blades) I found this shredder at my local Bunnings. What a difference - although not silent it is very quiet to use. It is so easy to use my wife also is now happy to shred all the garden waste. The one thing I had to get used to was the mulch is larger than with my other shredder but is still ideal for the garden. Not an expert but it works with a gear running against a plate and cuts up the branches, because of this you dont have to push things through it. I love it and wouldnt go back to the old version of shredders.

Excellent
Excellent machine when correctly adjusted. I like the way it pulls the stuff for shredding in as it makes the job so much easier.
Does not have a holder for the allen key that is required to adjust the cutter.

It sounds to me like your motor has failed. I would warn anyone not to buy one. The blades are made of mild steel and need sharpening every time it is used. I had one two years and spent more time sharpening the blades than shredding. I am now trying to give it away
No it is not the motor the machine just continually shuts off under overload. Yon need to (with great difficullty I may add) to clear the jammed branch then reset overload switch. After two hours of pure frustrations I returned the machine. Do not buy!
