Can I cook with oven and microwave combined or oven, microwave and grill combined putting in my own temperatures and time.
It seems I can only cook with grill and microwave combined. Disappointing.
1 answer
Yes, you're right from what I can see in the manual. However, I have cooked cakes using microwave followed by convection and they turned out fine. But it is just as easy to just cook with convection for cakes. The combination function of microwave and grill works ok too but only for things that need browning or crisping.

How do you cook pastry using the convection oven?
My first try at cooking home made sausage rolls ended with the tops burnt while the bottom went soggy and fell apart

Haven't used it to bake pastry, but I find that cooking cakes etc. works best if you use one of the racks. I have reheated pastry using convection and they worked out fine. Hope you have better luck next time.
Have now cooked some sausage rolls in this oven and found the following : use the black tray that comes with the oven and don't try and fit too much on it. Cook at 200 for 30 to 35 min on the lower oven rung and reverse the tray half away through. Don't use baking paper and be sure to preheat the oven. Hope this helps. I used a fairly firm chicken meat mixture and fortunately they came out quite crisp.
Thank you so much, I did use baking paper, and had the oven on 180.
I will try again this week using your method.

Is it safe to put this microwave oven on top of my vertical freezer?
2 answers
Dont see any reason why not. I'd suggest you put a sheet of laminate or MFD between the freezer and microwave. The oven doesn't seem to generate a lot of heat from the bottom.
Panasonic Australia C.Panasonic
Hi Amanda, you need to understand where the compressor is within your freezer and if the area you are placing the microwave gets hot what issues it can cause. Please refer to the operating instructions for the best placement of the microwave.

How does this microwave work ?
2 answers
Not quite sure what you mean. It works well, with separate functions for microwave, convection and grill. With a flat bed it means you can cook more items at once (eg. 2 bowls of soup or large casserole dish) as there is no turntable.

Hi Jese, do you have a copy of the user manual? If you have specific questions after reviewing the manual, please contact our customer service team on 132600.

Do you use the glass tray on the flat bed while cooking in the mircowave setting?
4 answers
I have not tried this, I use the wire racks.
I tried using the glass plate but it caused the cups, plates etc to overheat which I felt was a bit dangerous so now I put paper towel on the bottom of the microwave and place the cup, plate etc on that. Seems to work rather well. Also I believe there is a major technical issue with my microwave as it now turns the light on by itself and I have a lot of trouble turning it off again. I am going to have to throw the microwave to the trash as it is just too dangerous to keep.
I nearly always used the glass tray but cooking time is insanely slow

Bought this oven about 15 months ago. Just reheated a bowl of mince meat for 2 minutes and the inside glass on the door shattered. Any ideas or similar problems?
Thanks. Tom in Newcastle

Good grief! Never had this problem on any of my microwaves. The only problem on mine has been with the door opener. I took microwave back and it was replaced as it was only two months old. The door opener was catching again and my son had a look. Played around with it and it's fine now.
Your problem sounds like a manufacturing rather than a design defect. I wonder if there are safety issues as the inner window has a protective screen to prevent harmful microwaves from escaping - and it is broken. Get Panasonic to investigate this. If you are lucky they might replace it? Good luck.

Purchased this oven 4 months ago. Has never worked properly when using as a microwave. It is useless and is totally inconsistent on this function. The two main microwave functions I want to do are to cook rice and cook a bag of microwave popcorn and it can not do this. Sometimes it cooks fine and most other times not at all. I have taken it to be checked and the recommended repair shop for Panasonic say they have run all the tests and can find nothing wrong. Is my problem with the microwave part of the oven that this model has the exposed element at the top? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Hi Loulabelle, I only ever cooked rice in a microwave rice cooker and had to stir continually during cooking, otherwise it never cooked as evenly as in a microwave that had a turntable.
Hi Loulabelle, I didn't cook rice in mine and cooking popcorn was impossible with 2/3 of the bag uncooked and the rest either burnt or partially popped. We no longer use this model and have reverted to one with a turntable. I think Panasonic should stop selling it as it's largely a dud. I am sorry that you got stuck with the same problem as us.
You have hit the nail on the head. The consistent complaint is the inconsistent functioning of the microwave unit. There probably is nothing mechanically wrong with the unit itself - so the workshop test will always report a normal functioning machine. In practical terms I found that the microwave does not heat reliably or uniformally. This I suspect is due to inferior distribution of the heat producing microwaves with the inverter technology compared to the turntable. I found that best performance in my machine was at the back of the microwave cabinet. Placing the food to be cooked asymmetrically is "probably" better than symmetrically. I wonder if the inverter technology has been only laboratory tested and not kitchen tested. I hope that this information helps.

After I used oven for one hour last night, I can't use microwave. When I press start, it stops and cool comes. I thought I only need to wait one hour the most. It's already over night and still not working. I think we bought about one and half years ago. I hope doesn't cost too much to fix it.

If you live in Australia you have statutory rights which exceed the manufacturers warranty.Make a claim and don't take no for an answer
We are told by Bin Lee. 6months out of warranty and we have to pay $85 to check it. Then we have to pay for fixing fee. So we don't know how much totally cost for it. It might be cheaper to buy new one?
