My rebel cleaner has worked good for two summers now but it seems to be "sleeping" more then ever. In a corner, half way up the side wall, it just stops and doesn't move. Once I manually move it back into the middle of the pool it will start working again but soon after goes to sleep again.

I have a 3 month old Pentair Rebel. It has been working fine until recently. It appears to primarily run in reverse. With the debris/suction opening Facing the rear and handle to the rear. Once it hits the wall, it will flip onto its top and stay there for a long time. Any suggestions?

Maybe take a video and take it back to shop if it’s only 3 months old, it’s still under warranty

Rebel cleaner recently only cleans deep end of pool?
All baskets clear, pressure gauge OK.

Take it apart and have a look at the shafts, if they show wear it means the cogs are not catching the teeth on the wheel and it doesn’t move very far, if they are worn you will have to replace them, costs $80 on line, replace both left and right shafts

Thank you - will give it a go.

Doesn't go up or down my steps and I've never thrown sand in the pool to find out if its picked up.

It picks up sand but it doesn't climb steps. Very few cleaners can.

Brand new Pentair Rebel constantly gets stuck on curved portions of the pool. Any suggestions?

Hi Phil. If you have a tiled pool as I do I found the Rebel to be no good as the tyres won't grip and the machine spent a lot of time spinning and thinking. I have just swapped mine for a Great White and even with my shiny tiles it has gone over the curves and up the wall. Hope this helps. Cheers

Turn off pump and remove the Rebel from the pool and disconnect the hose. Open the Rebel casing up and pull out the grey neck (the bit that connects to the hose). Try spinning the neck and if it doesn't spin freely, there is more than likely some debris (usually small piece of twig in my case) stuck in the spinning neck piece. If that's the case, just use a tiny screwdriver or similar and remove the object. Hans.

Hi George. If you have a tiled pool the Rebel 2 is useless. My unit also only does the deep end and spins away for ages in the one spot when it gets to the wall of the pool.

We purchased the Rebel S5 while buying a new pool (above ground put in ground) It has pretty much stopped moving completely, Hubby has adjusted suction, checked for debris and blockages but no luck. Our retailer has advised it only had a 2 year warranty - can you confirm please?

My Rebels works nicely for about a year and now its only cleaning half of my pool and only my deep side of the pool. The basket is clean, no leaf stucked. It is really annoying. How can I know if its the problem of the wheel tyre is running out or something wrong with the mechnical parts inside the machine? anyways to check?

I'm really not qualified to answer this, best to ask Rebel as I've not had this problem. You'll be asked about the pool surface. It may help if the hose is taken out of the pool and laid flat & straight in the sun for a couple of hours before returning to the pool.

I have a Pentair Rebel for about 2 years. Recently it only moves around in a small area and it does not clean the pool much at all. I have checked all the connection and all seemed good. The pool shop I bought it is no longer there. What else can I do to improve it please?

I would check three things; First check the skimmer and filter baskets to make sure there is not too much debris built up. Second, the suction pressure, there was a tool provided with the cleaner that you place at the end of the hose and it has an indicator to show the suction. Third, in my case the tires wore out within months, if the tread is too worn, replace the tires. Good luck, I hope you can resolve this issue. Also even if your pool store has closed I am sure there is another store that would be happy to help.

Sounds like the problem I had when my rebel was about 2 years old. My rebel was also moving erratically. Problem was the gear teeth on drive shafts to the wheels had worn away and some times didn't engage with the wheels. Purchased right and left shafts and gears online. Easy replacement. All ok now until the teeth wear down again.

Thank you very much JBSML and Colin, I am following up on all your suggestions. Hope they will work.

My Rebel suction pool cleaner was working perfectly from new (purchased in December 2018) but it has now decided to try and climb out of the pool which leads to it loudly sucking air and causing issues with the pump and filter. I have added water to the pool and adjusted the pressure gauge to lessen the suction pressure slightly and also moved the weight on the hose a little further up the hose away from the unit. Seems to have worked so far but just waiting longer to see if I have succeeded. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

I contacted the manufacturer as the barrel of the rebel pool cleaner was just doing tiny circles in the pool. They were really helpful and sent me a new replacement barrel.under warrenty.
My problem is now the climbing out of the pool by the barrel and at different times the screaming noise coming from the filter valve. No matter how many times I have adjusted it...works great for a couple of hours then starts to climb out or scream.I have always checked the troubleshoot page and correct water level in pool...its doing my head in...any suggestions greatly appreciated.
puchased November 2018.new barrel replaced May 2022.

What part are you referring to as "barrel". There is a part listed as barrel in the replacement parts description in the user manual. Thanks!
