Wondering about the possum deterrent?

Looking at purchasing one for son they have a possum problem in the roof. They have 3 precious cats inside will it affect them? Need to know before I buy.
I have your mouse things and love them.

Thanks freckles15. We also love cats at Pestrol. If the unit is in the roof then it will not be a problem, the cats will not be able to hear the sounds. If they don't have power in the roof cavity, our little portable battery-powered ultrasonic units are also quite effective: https://www.pestrol.com.au/buy-online/ultrasonic-pest-repeller-battery-operated/

Do the units last forever or do they have to be replaced periodically.

Just plug them into a power socket and forget about them nothing to replace or wear out

Thanks BTMJCM.

Di P. We expect the units to last between 7-10 years. We do provide a 2-year replacement warranty on the units. We have experienced some situations over the years when there have been thunderstorms that have resulted in the unit safety switches being set off. However, generally speaking the units are very straight forward.

Not if the product is in the bait station or inaccessible to your dogs.

Hi Bill, there is an option on the unit itself that can turn off the ultrasonic component to the Pestrol Rodent Free. This is a high-frequency sound that some dogs maybe able to hear if they are in the same room. The main technology to remove rodents is the technology that goes through the wiring of your home and this will not have any concerns for your pets. I have pets and use the rodent-free with no problem. However, like with all animals just monitor them, dogs would particularly just start barking if they can hear the ultrasonic sound.

I think an email straight to Pestrol would better serve your query as I'm not sure with an open shed how it would work but the guys at Pestrol will tell you if it will or not they wont give you any BS Good luck hope it is successful

Pestrol
Stephen J.Pestrol

Thanks BTMJCM.

Hi Robert, that advice is correct. The Rodent Free product does have an ultrasonic speaker in the main unit that is good for open spaces. However, it is not as powerful as our other product such as the impact ultrasonic repeller: https://www.pestrol.com.au/buy-online/pestrol-impact-ultrasonic-rodent-repller/ that only focuses on using ultrasonic, therefore the speakers are much larger and covers up to 180 degrees and is better for open spaces. The other reason the pestrol rodent free would be a waste is because the main technology in this unit is the vibration or sound that travels through the internal wiring, that gets into those hard to reach places. For this to be effective you need to have a good network of electrical wires. More often than not the carport wouldn't have this. If you need any more assistance, please contact us on 1800 33 88 88 or [email protected].

I am a Show Bird breeder of a sizeable flock, so rodent activity is a constant in this Hobby. Can you please tell me if there is any evidence that the emitting sound waves from these units will affcet my birds during breeding season ?

Stephen J.Pestrol

SDM, thank you for your question. We have sold products to many customers who do have birds. However, I do not have enough evidence that I would be happy to present to you that could guarantee that there would be no effect on your birds during breeding. With any animals, we always get people to pay close attention to the sleeping habits and food intake. If there is any noticeable change we recommend moving the units further away or turning off the ultrasonic technology component. If you are looking for another chemical-free option, you could consider our rat and mouse repellent spray that is essentially peppermint oil. https://www.pestrol.com.au/buy-online/vermin-repellent-vermin-free-all-natural/ The peppermint oil irritates the rodents nozzle passage. If you would like to talk more about all of our options for the control of rodents around your birds, please feel free to call us on 1800 33 88 88.

Deb H.asked

Is it suitable for sub floor size is about 20 x15 meters

1 answer
Pestrol
Stephen J.Pestrol

Hi Deb, yes these units would be suitable for that area of 20 x 15 metres. The only limitation for the technology that goes through the wiring, is dependent on the setup of your wires in the wall. However, with the 100-day MB guarantee that will be enough time to ensure you get the desired results. Pestrol Team

does it also work with cockroaches

1 answer
Pestrol
Stephen J.Pestrol

Hi Tom, Pestrol Rodent Free emits electromagnetic signal through your wires inside your wall cavities. The frequency is set to repel rats and mice, but it also helps with the cockroaches that are nesting inside your wall cavities as they can pick up on that signal as well. Hope this helps:))

Stephen J.Pestrol

Hi Paul, sorry this question wasn't answered earlier. The gentleman who looked after the questions has moved on and this has been overlooked. The units can be sensitive to electrical surging within your home. This tends to be the main reason that the units can stop working. We would be more than happy to test the unit for your free of charge and if they don't meet the requirements they will be replaced under our 2 year warranty. Pestrol Team

How does this work

1 answer
Pestrol
Stephen J.Pestrol

Hi Melissa, sorry for the delay, I typed up a response but then noticed it wasn't sent. The pestrol rodent free works by 3 main technologies. The main technologies sends a shifting sound or pulse through the wiring that the rodents can hear but we cant. The sound is turned on and off so the rodents don't get used to it and as a result in most cases will vacate the area. We do provide a 100-day money back guarantee with this purchase: https://www.pestrol.com.au/buy-online/pestrol-rodent/ if you have any more questions, please let us know or you are welcome to call us on 1800 33 88 88.

1. What area does 1 Pestrol Rodent Device cover or does it work only on the circuit it is plugged into?
2. Can the unit be placed in the roof cavity if that is where the rats are a problem?

1 answer
Pestrol
Stephen J.Pestrol

Hi Mindy, the Rodent Device will work in the circuit each unit is plugged into. If the circuit that the unit is plugged into covers wires that go through into the ceiling then you will not need to place the unit in the roof and you should get the desired results. If you want to absolutely make sure the roof cavity is secured you can try our new battery operated ultrasonic repeller: https://www.pestrol.com.au/buy-online/ultrasonic-pest-repeller-battery-operated/

Q: Does the device use much electricity and what would usage compare to?

Thankyou

Hi Karen.
The unit draws a maximum of 8watts and is very, very economical. Probably running costs would be about $1-2 a month. You can compare that to using an 8watt bulb if you have one that small in your home.

Can there be a solution for rodent in back vegetable garden only a couple of meters from back door. No evidence of in house rats. Won’t look at baits or traps when there is fresh vegetables available, especially green tomatoes. Is there an outdoor unit available. Nearest outdoor power point is on covered patio about 3-4 metres away.

Yvonne, thanks for the message. There should be a light on for the Ionic, depending on the model the Ionic can take longer to flash. If you are not sure we would be happy to test the technologies for you if you were able to send the item back for inspection. We have has some instance 5 or 6 years down the track where the light on the unit has stopped but the technology in the unit is still working fine. We are happy to assist you if you would like us to look at it for you.

Where in houde do you instal them in the house

1 answer
Pestrol
Stephen J.Pestrol

Hi Peter, Generally I would recommend placing a unit in the problem area; ie kitchen as there are multiple technologies - 2 of which are specific to where you place the item (Ultrasonic - sound waves from a speaker and Ionic - which helps reduces smells that can attract rodents). If you have more than 1 unit as your home may be bigger; generally, I would recommend placing them at opposite ends of the home to ensure that the main technology: Electromagnetic will pulse a vibration through your internal wiring that rodents can hear but we cant. Any other questions, please let us know. Pestrol
