My brand new pyrostone fry pan has a very small dent which happened when I was pouring mixture to the pan the bowl slipped and fell on the pan. Is it safe to cook in this pan? I can see the metal underneath. What metal is underneath the surface?

dishwasher safe?

If it has an aluminium base, the dishwasher will oxidise the base and create a black oxide, which is very hard to clean. I have thrown items in the bin after that outcome. Buy stainless steel or induction products if you want dishwasher safe.

Our 5l cassoulet went black on the second use. Sent an email to the distributor asking how to clean. Never received a response of any sort. The Pyrolux products are obviously not worth half the money the ask. Do not buy this rubbish.

I am so aghast! On the second time ( tonight ) I used my beautiful new Pyrocast saucepan, one side "caved in", as if it had melted!!! Now the lid won't go on and I cannot use the saucepan, if i want to have the lid on!!! It's insane! Does anyone have an email address for this firm? I need to return it . Thank you!

Does anyone know who I contact for a warranty claim for Pyrolux cookware? The store I bought these from has closed down.

You can try contacting the retail shop ‘what’s cooking’ in Wollongong. They knew where to send my warranty claim. Good luck.

I have just received my pots and fry pan and would like to know how to care for them and whether or not I can use coconut or grapeseed oil with them. Also are they dishwasher safe?

I can't remember what was on the initial care instructions but I do use coconut oil in mine and they are fine. I think they are flagged as dishwasher safe but I prefer to hand wash mine. This is indicative of how much I love my pans as I hate hand washing. I've just been stung in the past by "dishwasher safe" claims and these pans are very easy to quickly wash out after use. Mine are still looking perfect even after daily use. I hope you enjoy your pans.

I bought the Pyrostone set (Large casserole and fry pan and medium fry pan). After only a few months the two largest saucepan and casserole pan started to flake. I returned to place of purchase who refused to refund. I have used these as directed. Low heat. I was also told not to use any oil (not stated on packaging). I purchased soft non-stick utensils at the same place ($50) to avoid scratching. Also used not scratch scourers. Clearly this is a fault, as it has just started flaking off for no apparent reason, and therefore has to be thrown out. Has anybody else had this experience. I would like to take a photo of this to warn people off buying this product. It was not cheap. $165.00. I expected better.

Ingrid, My product is described on its box as "PYROCAST by Pyrolux, 25x24x3.5cm Square Grill Pan, Cast Iron". It is solid cast iron, nothing to flake off and continues to be my preferred steak cooking device. For me it works best when smoking hot and I continue not to have any sticking problems. Bacon and eggs slide out even with the corrugated surface.Cost $35 from Go Camping Chris 0412 120 827

Have never heard of such a thing happening. If you took it back to where you purchased it within the alloted gaurantee then the seller has no choice but to refund.
If they refuse then take action via Fair Trading who will check your case.
Id also contact the company direct via the Internet.
Remember: just "saying" you did everything correctly is hearsay.
Good luck!

I did return to the place of purchase, three times. They said they had to meet with the rep for this product. At my final visit I was advised they would not refund. With regards to Fair Trading etc. I just don't have the time for this. When I buy a product I expect it to meet the expectations I purchased it on. This clearly DID NOT. So I just want to put the word out there so others don't make my mistake. It is concerning as at the place of purchase it is highly promoted, in fact it is the major promotion. I will not buy the product again and I will never shop at the same location.

Hi
This has happened to me too! I followed all their care instructions and still mine has flaked.. I'm extremely unhappy with this product and before this flaked off, I went and bought 3 more pans..

So I'm expecting this is gonna happen to my other pans :(

Can I ask where you bought? I got mine from Harris Scarf..

At a home wares shop in Chadstone. It has been their biggest promotion this year, and they have a huge display as you enter the main entrance on your right. And when I attempted to return the product the staff were AWARE of the issues, and they continue to promote and sell this product. They also advised me that you are not meant to use oil in this range at all (although this is not stated in the brochure).

They held my product for a few weeks to discuss a return/refund with the supplier. On my third return trip, they advised that they would not refund or exchange as they believed I was at fault (I followed all of the care instructions and even purchases $50 worth of specific utensils they recommended for this product). I bought the complete package and the same has transpired with all three pans. So it is definitely a product fault that they would not take responsibility for.

However they continue to sell this product, knowingly that it does not meet their major selling points. I will never shop at a homewares again, I mistakenly thought they would be more professional and their products more valid but I now realise that they are only more expensive! If you purchased at Harris Skarf or any major supermarket I think you have more chance of a refund.

I've had a set of 3 Pyrolux Pyrostone frypans for the last 12 months and they get used a lot. Found them much better tan considerably more expensive ones I've had in the past.
I was advised to use a few drops of oil with them. I've had no problem with them by making sure I don't heat them to a high heat when dry. I test the heat by heating then putting a couple of drops of oil in and seeing if it spreads quickly but does not start to smoke. They are not (and I understand not designed to be) completely non stick, i.e. cook an egg and it will slide out. Also make sure it is cool before washing.
