Laminate Flooring

Is Quickstep Classic laminate scratch resistant and waterproof with longevity, or is Hybrid vinyl better and more hard Wearing?

Good afternoon Mary,

Yes, Quick-Step Classic is highly scratch resistant and comes with a 5 year wet damage warranty.

Laminate flooring is more resistant to scratch, scuff and stains than vinyl or hybrid flooring. This is because vinyl flooring is coated with a type of lacquer that is nowhere durable as the high quality melamine surface of Quick-Step laminate.

I was told that the Quick step Classic laminate flooring was scratch resistant and waterproof. Are there any reviews of durability and longevity of this product and is it better than hybrid Vinyl flooring. Thanks Mary

Good afternoon Mary,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding our Quick-Step 8mm Classic Laminate Flooring.

Quick-Step Laminate flooring is widely regarded as the best product of it's type in the world.

No hard flooring product available warrants against marking or scratching as such manufactures talk in degrees of resistance. Similarly no hard floor producer gives a 100% guarantee against water damage so manufacturers talk in degrees or types of resistance.

Quick-Step Classic is highly resistant to marks and scratches shown through many happy customers since the launch of Quick-Step Laminates in Australia in 1996.

Now with new waterproof surface we guarantee against water damage for 5 years from installation (excluding flooding or appliance failure).

Many thousands of Australians happily live on their Quick-Step floors for many many years with great satisfaction however such customers rarely bother with product reviews.

Our long term partners and retailers are really the best people to provide direct customer reviews.

Please let us know where you are located and we can provide you with the closest high quality Quick-Step Retailer to you.

Thinking of installing this product. My house gets the sun from sunrise to sunset, and I have windows that go to the floor, will the sun fade the flooring and will the heat affect anything?

Good morning Ainsley,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding Quick-Step Laminate.

Quick-Step Laminate ranges including Impressive and Majestic are ideal in areas of direct sunlight.

They are highly fade resistant (much more colour stable than vinyl or wood) and unaffected by surface temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius.

As with all flooring coverings, best results are achieved by providing sensible protection from direct sunlight.

Hello, Thank you in advance for a quick response. For a kitchen remodel, can a Quick-Step floating laminate floor be laid after removing the old cabinets, before installing new kitchen cabinets a few months from now? We need to place the order for the floors tomorrow...Monday, 17 February. (Just saw others' comments and did not know this could be an issue.)
Thanks again, Shawn

Good afternoon Shawn,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the installation of our Laminate in your kitchen. Our installation instructions recommend that cooking island for kitchens and other very heavy objects (cabinets) should be installed first and not placed on top of the laminate. The laminate floor must be able to move around the heavy objects to avoid open joints and separating planks. If you can send a private message with your email address we can email through the full installation instructions for you to review.

Good afternoon Maho,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding our Quick-Step 9.5mm Majestic Laminate flooring. 2mm Quiet-Step Combi-Lay Underlay is an acoustic underlay that provides excellent impact sound reduction.

Quick-Step Majestic Laminate has a waterproof surface and is treated with Scratch Guard on the top layer. Steam-mops are permitted for use on Majestic.

In relation to installing the flooring in your wardrobes please note that the built-in wardrobe needs to be installed prior to the floor being installed. The floor is a floating floor and needs to be able to expand and contract.

If you'd like a copy of the installation instructions please let me know.

We are about to lay Eligna VINTAGE OAK NATURAL VARNISHED. We were told after we paid the deposit that there may be a chance joins will be needed. Is this correct ?? As I would just like the flooring to flow without the imperfection of a join ? Especially in the large areas.

Good afternoon Belinda,

Thank you for contacting Quick-Step Australia regarding expansion joints in your flooring.

During installation lengths of more than 13 meters and widths of 13 meters, there should be an intermediate expansion joint, to allow for linear growth and shrinkage.

If you have a floor plan with the room dimensions (even hand drawn is okay) you could email to [email protected] we can review it and advise if or where we would recommend an expansion joint.

Kind regards,

The Team at Quick-Step Australia
