WOW!
This car is so great, I was hesitant about getting it because their where so many other hot hatches I looked at the Volkswagen gti and also the Veloster turbo, I test drived the Veloster and actaully really did like it (even more then the Renault) but then I met a few people who owned them and they all where telling me how they had to get new tires after having it for a month or so, I also have one close friend who owns a 2015 Veloster turbo and as bad as this sounds he says he regrets getting the Hyundai Veloster because it lacks turbo so much...Read more
compared to the Renault, a few weeks back I gave him a drive in my car and he said he could really feel the difference bettween the two he said the handling was superb in the Renault and as well as the performance compared to the Veloster, he likes the interior a little better in the Veloster but is actaully thinking about trading he's car into get a Renault Rs sportSimilar opinion? Bought a tce90 Feb 2015. By May 2016 I have 53k on the odometer. Just great. Bought it to do the 100k round trip to work but have driven it on a 4000klm trip and about 6 x 2000klm trips. Great long distance car. Very comfortable, very very efficient and just such a fun little car. Really love the torquey engine. Only gripe is lack of cup holders, poor interior light, but that is all. For $15990 drive away (plus $500 for black metallic paint) it is unbelievable value. Bought my wife a new Camry Ateva S a few months before, great car, but we pref...Read more
er the Clio. She wants one for her next car but will have to have the 1.2 litre as she wants an auto. I love the manual, great ratios and shifts very well. Brakes are also great, even though rear is a drum. Would recommend this car unreservedly. Now at 75K Dec 16. No problems at all. No rattles, (the much dearer aforementioned Camry has one). Tyres are still very good. Don't believe it but they will crack 100K easily. Driven it on multiple 2000 klm return trips. Does it easily. On one I measured its highway economy over 800 klms. It returned 71mpg (sorry, converted it from litres per 100). checked it 3 times. Perhaps that is because I am 60 and just about ready to start driving with a hat. Might also explain the great tyre wear. If you do put your foot down it is fun, really tourquey, don't need to rev it! Quite lumpy at idle (3 cylinders) but smooth once on the way. Love the engine note, got a real growl. Definitely better on 98 than 95. Still will buy another Renault! OK, now up to 116k. Few little problems! Water is leaking very slowly! Had my 105K service done by a licenced mechanic as I was too far from Sunshine Renault. They say it is a small o ring or seal and that Renault should fix it under warranty at the 120k service. Has only used 500ml in 15000ks so it’s a small leek and not internal! Front brake pads replaced at the 90k service. Car still goes really well, like new. But not at the moment. Battery collapsed yesterday, normal for the kms. However, what is not normal is the battery, a lead acid type (old school) and not the common calcium type used in most cars today. So it is sitting in the carport waiting for Renault Roadside Assistance to fit the correct battery hopefully tomorrow! And.... no fault of Renault, the windscreen is to be replaced this week! The first set of tyres wore out at 110k, well the fronts were finished. The backs would have covered another 30k. Changed them all for Michelin’s and did something I’ve never done, had them fitted to some nice alloy wheels! It looks so good! With the new windscreen, battery and the water leak fixed, I won’t be changing tyres until the odometer says 220k! All in all, still love this car! 5 days later, the car is finally going well again, had to find the battery myself because Renault Roadside Assistance couldn’t, and left me to find it. How is that care? All they could come up with was that they outsource to NRMA and NRMA hasn’t got a battery in the country. Did find a battery in Lismore after quite a bit of hunting. Thanks Discount Batteries in Lismore. No thanks to Renault Roadside Assistance. Will be moving care to NRMA. If Renault can’t provide the battery what is the point in their roadside assistance. Not sure that while I live in the country, Renaults are a sensible choice. Anyway, nice to have it back on the road, no thanks to Renault. Hope the slow water leak is covered by the warranty and that they don’t end up reneging on that too. Not too confident after the battery incident. Will let you all know how that goes. Service from Sunshine Renault has however been excellent in every regard to this point.Purchased in February 2021 for $16,500.00.

One of the best small cars out there - Great value and MUCH better than the Mazda 2
I own the 0.9L 3cyl Turbo -
PROS:
- The power on the little engine is equivalent to a 1.4-1.5 4cyl however the petrol consumption is way better!.
- The handling is superb
- The interior design even though simplistic is well put together.
- The drive away price is very very competitive.
- 5 years warranty.
- Reliable (so far)
- LOOKS SO GOOD!

Excellent small car
Purchased our Black Renault Clio Expression new in 2014 and from the start just loved it. We purchased the 1.2l turbo auto which goes very well, much more power then you'd expect. This car was such a good looking little car being black with red inserts it just looked great. No problems at all in over 18 months and 10,000 kms - all trouble free. Renault were good to deal with also with $299 capped price servicing and a great 5 year unlimited km warranty makes this little car a great buy. Sadly had to sell as we are expanding our small family and...Read more
the back seats are not big enough for a baby capsule. Luckily it sold easily online! Sad to see this beautiful car go but it will always have a special place in my heart. Highly recommend this great little French car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Four years on and still going strong.
Four years ago I purchased a used 2003 Clio Expression Verve automatic mainly to drive back and forth to work which is a 30km round trip five days per week and to save the daily wear and tear on my new cars over the years. To date apart from a once a year service totaling never more than $450, fuel and rego I have spent nothing on the vehicle. This little runabout is economical and actually still a bit of fun to zip about in, I fully expected to have traded it in by now but given its on going reliability, comfort and ease on the hip pocket I see no need too at this point in time.
Comfortable, safe and economical little car.
A little cramped in the rear seat.

A proper hot hatch. Just look at the pedals !
If all you are concerned about is going fast in a straight line, look elsewhere. There are plenty of hot hatches quicker in a straight line (though the RS200 is still pretty quick, 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds). The beauty of this car is how it goes around corners. It's not a common vehicle, so of course your boy-racer types (for some reason it's always seems to be BMW's) are curious as to what it can do. Many a time I've had them on my tail pushing me, along as they're obviously quicker, until we get to a roundabout... after which they're too emba...Read more
rrassed to keep following. The car itself is nicely kitted out and made well enough. I've had it for 18 months and the one rattle it developed went away on its own. Tyre wear has been good, far better than my last 2 hot hatches. It has good bluetooth/handsfree phone setup, a cd player and aux plug. The sound from the stereo is a bit cheap. The sound from the exhaust is quite nice, and can be made better with aftermarket. It has a nifty car computer that tells you g-forces, lap times and 0-100km/h times. It has comfortable seats, that cope well with the very stiff suspension. There's plenty of room in the back, though 3 people make it a bit squeezy. It's not that comfortable for people in the back due to the stiff suspension (oh well). Nice alloys, Brembo brakes, ABS that you can actually turn off completely, sweet lift-off oversteer. I personally reckon it looks great too. Even though it's 3000 rpm at 100km/h in 6th gear, it's not noisy or busy. The interior is a bit dull on first look, but you don't mind it after a while. I really like it now, it's subdued rather than flashy. And as it's an RS, all of the mechanicals are designed for hard running. You can drive it hard and it won't break. Tbh, it prefers it. Downsides are that the service interval is 10,000km but that's no bad thing; and the gearbox is a bit grumpy till it's warmed up, and even then it's not the slickest gearbox going around, but it's not bad. The suspension is a bit firm too, there's no denying it, but I got the Sports Seats rather than the Recaro's, so not so bad (and 2 extra airbags as well). And of course there's the resale value, which won't be as good as other hot hatches, but I may never sell ! It makes for a great second-hand buy. Before buying, I read a lot of reviews, and they all loved it. I agree. Interesting is when they put it up against far more powerful cars around tight tracks. They leave it for dead on the straights, and the Clio catches right back up on the corners. Even now, the new Fiesta ST only matches its lap times, (though the Fiesta proved quicker than the new turbo Clio). It's my favourite car out of all of the cars I have owned. I like it better than my previous Golf GTi and XR5. Driving it is very tactile and involving. And fun. If you are in the market for a second hand hot hatch, you must drive one. You can't help but have a smile on your face. Sometimes I wish it was quicker, then I see a roundabout up ahead... It makes me a far better driver than I really am. The new hot hatches are quicker and cheaper. But it's not all about speed...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

So cute, but so unreliable
We bought a 3 year old Renault Clio and sold it after 2 years of headaches! One would think a 3 year old car as a nice new reliable car, not our little Renault.
My wife (girlfriend at the time) was going back to uni so we decided to downsize and get a nice small economical city run-about. So we looked around and ended up with the very fun to drive, funky looming, and efficient Renault Clio.
We bought it with an RACV "green light" check, they said it all check out and was in great condition. So we went ahead and bought it... here's a list of SOME of the issues we had in the next 2 years
* seized wheels bearings
* fried AC control unit
* bent valves
* Cracked engine mounts
* Alarm/central locking unit needed replacing

Brilliant car for the money. Ok it's a 1.4l auto and would be considered a girl's car, except that I'm a guy whose other car is a 5.7l V8, and I really like this little Renault. I think for what it is, a small economical car with zip that is easy to park and has great vision all round, it is very good value for what is out there nowadays. Slightly different to the more common Korean and Japanese cars and is good quality and has reasonable internal space considering it is a "micro" car. Would happily buy another Clio (in fact am considering get ...Read more
a Sport 182) as my gf will be taking this one soon and not letting me near it, but equally happy to zip around in this 1.4L (Expression Verve). Cruise would be nice but not a deal breaker. Style, economy, easy to park. Lack of cruise control.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love my 2005 Renault Clio, great size and has lasted well (still going strong!). Only criticism is the entertainment system, found it strange how the volume goes down as you slow down... Got it serviced and was informed that it was a "special feature" of the car. Don't know that many people who would enjoy their music going down every time they halt... Would be "less innovative" with this feature and don't fix it if it ain't broken.
Apart from that, great car!
Almost everything

Amazing little car. She drives beautifully I couldn't ask for a better 2nd car after my mx6. She turns corners smoothly and just overall drives smoothly. It is nice to have a car that doesn't cost so much to feed up on petrol every week. For myself with the current australian/melbourne petrol prices she will cost about $35 to fill up compared to the $60-70 I was paying for my old V6. She is easy to park if you are use to the turning circle as she is a small car. Best of all you can get into the hardest and most annoying of all parking spots wit...Read more
h this car. Believe me I have tried and she did it beautifully! I really couldn't be any happier with my Clio. Though buying it brand new may be a bit hefty in price try buying 2nd hand and you may find a good price as I bought mine 2nd hand for $7200 and she only had about 46000km's clicked, so she is worth about $14000k you just never know what you can find on 2nd hand car deals. As well as this its pretty tough, I'll admit when I first got my Clio I knocked and bumped her a few times while parking as I was just getting use to having a smaller car compared to something huge (didn't hit any cars only gutters and a pole) and let me say this NO SCRATCHES! NO DINTS! NOTHING! She was perfectly fine... Amazing I thought. Either way this car is surperb. Clio 2002 manual - Stylish, Cute, Comfortable, Silent Engine, Great fuel consumption. Small engine - I just like fast cars and big engines so no real cons about this car really.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

This is the best performance car I've ever owned. It does all things well and some things it's just amazing at. Its chassis is sublime with amazing handling and still with the ability to provide a comfortable ride, a 9,000 km three weeks cross country drive can attest to that. With 132Kw you'd think it would be thirsty yet I consistently return 7-8 L per 100 Km.
The first tyres lasted over 36,000 km, the second set are up to 41,000 km and have plenty left. Bang for your buck this is THE performance car to buy. There is nothing out there to mat...Read more

Hi Guys,
Looking for a runabout car and stumbled upon a 2014 Clio 3cyl - any big complaints - secondary market can throw some lemons

Hi,
Our Clio was a used car and we have had no concerns. It probably depends on who you are buying from and whether it has been thoroughly checked over for problems. We bought from Autosports and they seem to process lots of higher end cars and have a reputation to protect.
So far I have absolutely no complaints about our Renault. We have three vehicles in the family and the Renault has become my favourite for running around after kids.
Good luck with your car hunting.
No problem with mine. Love it, but it was new. As with any second hand car you need to have it inspected and full service history etc.
