Just picked up my manual swb yesterday. It's a really nice van to drive. Smooth, quiet and a nice smooth changing gearbox. I'll let you know in a few months time how it compares to my previous 3 purchases of VW Transporters.

I’ve had no issues mechanically. Mines a 2016 model though and only done 26,000km. I was only surprised that after a 15000km service, 6000km later it ran low on oil. No sign of any leaks or evidence of smoke to suggest oil burning. Ran fine since topping up.

Hi Jason

I am not going to be much help without knowing the the position of the sender unit relative to the filler. I suppose it is possible to damage a sender with high fuel flow, but without knowing more about where it is positioned in the tank it is hard for me to comment. You have three possible scenarios, the sender itself is faulty, the wiring harness or connectors have an issue or the instrument cluster / gauge itself has failed. Sorry I cannot be of more help.
