Hi, I have a Renault tragic from 2003, diesel, and it has been funny sometimes. A few times now the engine shuts down whilst driving, and I can't really figure out in what situation but I have the feeling it happened when I was getting more speed but it's kind of unpredictable.. in my last long trip I tried to be more careful gaining speed and it didn't happen at all.. Then, when I restart the engine it works perfectly fine, I even restarted it whilst still moving once and just continued driving. so I wonder if someone can help me with this. Also some times the preheating warning light lights up but again when I restart the engine it goes of again.. not really sure if they can both be related but doesn't seem so. Any help? Thanks a lot in advance.

Sorry I'm not sure. And if you were to get Renault involved. They more then likely would have no idea either.
Sorry I can't help you.

That's an easy fix. Sell it and buy something that doesn't come from the French lemon maker. Avoid Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi. All three are from the same family.
My guess would be the fuel rail pressure sensor.

Sounds like an electrical problem, but whether it's computer, or a sensor that fails occasionally, who knows? If it were me I would try taking it to Renault and seeing if they can diagnose it. Be aware though that intermittent faults are notoriously hard to decipher.

Hi, I have a 2013 renualt trafic LWB, it has just ticked over 75,000kms and have had to replace the starter motor. The mechanic noted the starter motor was covered in oil but couldn't find the source. Has anyone come across this issue before or suspect where the oil may be coming from? Thanks!

Any one having radio problems?
Bought van new last year. Ever since new my radio would go to static noise only, when i turn my car on,this would happen few times a week, been back n forth to dealer for about 9 month prob took it in 10 times. Got worse every time i took it in.
It would go to static every time i start car, starting loosing it memories of stations, than gps memory start to go. Eventually they change to new head unit towards end of 1 year ownership.
Than it started again like i original got it.
It would go to static once a while, took back, now's its allmost every time i start car, last time changed the attenna mount,
Still same. I dont know if this will ever get fix. With all the down time the car is in renault... it be comming a burden... on my business. Renault sa very time bring it we have a look at it...

My radio is fine. But my engine/clutch and harmonic balancer is not. It has been in the shop about 19-20 % of the time I have owned it. Serious drain on my business. I have $6k in cost while the peice of crap van has been in for warranty work. I had to buy another van just to go to work.

BTW the new engine and clutch prob would have cost me $15k if it happened 1 day after the warranty ended. And good luck getting the time of day from the dealer who sold it to me.

Had similar problems but with the blue tooth from van to phone
Drops out back to dealer but no luck. Also maps were out of date when vehicle was purchased new. Renault brisbane wanted $30 to update. Did it for nothing after contacting consumer affairs office of fair trading. Now the rear wiper arms fell off while driving. Will be going back to the new hiace when it is released Renault Australia do not give a toss on service once you purchase one. Also van now cronaclly pulls to the left
Back to Renault, they informed me they all do it and cannot do anything about it. Good luck with the radio issue I have had none.

the reviews im reading have turned me off buying the van, I have been excited for the upcoming test drives and was looking forward to purchasing..
I don't feel confident anymore as from what I have read the customer service is atrocious and dealerships have no respect or any urgency to have a vehicle back on the road efficiently..

why are these vans having such major issues so early on and furthermore why are these problems not rectified straight away?

My traffic is still in the shop 2 months later. The first time was 1 month. Less than 17000km on it and 1 year old it's getting a new engine as we speak

Wow, that’s appalling I’m not sure how it’s even legal to do that to a customer. 1 year old.. all well and good if it’s under warranty but the van shouldn’t be in the shop for than a week.dod they provide a curtesy car?

9 weeks to have the engine replaced.

I bought a new trafic LWB twin turbo. It's fast and comfortable but that's where it ends. It has 17000km(lesss than 1 year) on it and has had a new clutch, new gear lever cables, new harmonic balancer, oil sprayed all over the alternator, eco button stop working and struggling to select reverse after the clutch replacement - 5 weeks off the road. First time I drove it at about 80km after they "fixed" it At Brian Hilton Gosford it failed again. I had to get towed and had a nice $200 cab ride home for my staff with $500 in overtime payments. New engine and another 9 weeks in the shop. As soon as I got it back I drove to work 4 times and I had smoke pouring out the bonnet. Engine had to come out again to fix the leaking turbo hose 4 weeks of the road again. The dealer is Brian Hilton Gosford and they don't give a stuff. I have had to purchased a new van to not go bankrupt as I cannot trust this van to take me to work.

We are going to court now. And its not just me, there is another Renault Trafic owner also taking them to court for a refund. And by luck we found the same lawyer, same van same dealer.... If you have a similar story with Brian Hilton/renault over a Renault let me know at [email protected] there is power in numbers. I wonder how many we have to find for a class action lawsuit?

I’ve had no issues mechanically. Mines a 2016 model though and only done 26,000km. I was only surprised that after a 15000km service, 6000km later it ran low on oil. No sign of any leaks or evidence of smoke to suggest oil burning. Ran fine since topping up.

Hi Jason

I am not going to be much help without knowing the the position of the sender unit relative to the filler. I suppose it is possible to damage a sender with high fuel flow, but without knowing more about where it is positioned in the tank it is hard for me to comment. You have three possible scenarios, the sender itself is faulty, the wiring harness or connectors have an issue or the instrument cluster / gauge itself has failed. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

No problem's on my van. Maybe keep all the windows up, restart your phone and all its Bluetooth connections, sit closer to the mic, speak louder. If no change, take it back to the dealer.

Haven't had any issues or complaints from the person on the other end. I find I have to turn the volume up a bit. I've got a Lifestyle pack with the MediaNav, I'm not sure if this would cause any difference though.

Yep rubbish Bluetooth, cannot auto connect every time, can go thru the manual connect up to 10 times while driving to get connection. Never loads the address book. Almost have to stop to hear the caller and they have same problem. No recognition of the problem from Renault dealer.

.what is your opinion guys on my purchase?
the things I concern driving satisfaction, handling, power, reliability and building quality .

I can't comment on the new Renault as I have the X83 but I did read an X82 progress review on the net somewhere and it stated that they were still a good thing. The other thing I noticed is there are no bad reviews about the model and I believe they have been released now since late 2015. I think with any of the new diesels they need to be serviced on time and by the dealer.

I drive the latest model Trafic long wheel base twin turbo.. I couldn't be happier...I've halved my fuel bill in the first month.. loaded with 800kg and didn't notice any struggles... the gearbox shifts easily. The only thing u will notice comparing to the VW is that the tuning circle is not as tight and the doors are not as heavy.. previous to my purchase I drove the VW for 7 months. And although I enjoyed the drivability it did have its downside of a lot of reflection in the interior so rear camera was useless at times and couldn't see the instrument panel. No such problems with the Trafic

I'm very happy, 2015 LWB, Lifestyle Pack. I bought it secondhand a few months ago. While I probably wouldn't have ordered a Lifestyle Pack new, (probably would've got a Premium), I'm glad I've got one now. Keyless start is great and I like the concealed dash compartment and the MediaNav is also good. Dashboard layout is excellent.
It's very comfortable to drive, economy is great, turning circle is a bit of an issue especially pulling into car parks, handling is good with a quiet comfortable ride.
The build is quite good but I think the quality of the dash could be improved.
