This Renault Trafic has been nothing but trouble, don't go near it.
We purchase the Trafic new in December 2016. In January 2017 the door handle came out of the sliding door. It was repaired at the dealers.
Door handle came out again a few weeks later and we told they had used a new part to remedy the problem. A few weeks late the door handle came out again and this time they fixed it properly( after many wasted hours without the vehicle). Next was the clutch master cylinder which went. We were told a new part was fitted. A few weeks later the clutch master cylinder want again and it had to go back to be repai...Read more

Unfortunately Not So Good
I bought my van near new with 12,000 kms on the clock in June 2016. First tow episode was at about 14,000 kms when the clutch master cylinder bypassed leaving me stranded. On the upside, the tow, retrieval and repair was handled well and back on the road two days later. This van is great to drive and performs very well so no issues there. I had a check engine light back in December last year which was cleared and did not return immediately. The light came back on 2 months ago, same issue and it turned out to be a blocked manifold pressure senso...Read more
r tube from the exhaust manifold up to the sensor. This was disgnosed and cleared by a local repairer, cost $600 as no warranty support near me and Renault would not help with a sublet warranty repair and refused to supply any technical support. This van has only ever run genuine ELF oil and has had much more frequent service than recommended by Renault, so disappointed that we get a carbon blocked sensor tube inside 50K. This lasts about 300 k's and the light sets again but this time the vehicle stops completely with an engine hazard warning light as well and leaves me stranded roadside. The vehicle was towed again to the nearest Renault dealership on March 14th (different one to the first failure) and to this day it is still there. I have now been off the road for coming up six weeks and the communication from the dealership has been atrocious. It was two weeks before anyone contacted me at all. Keeping in mind this is a commercial van, being off the road for 6 weeks is completely unacceptable. I am told that it has a failed turbo boost sensor, it took over a week to get the part to the dealership and was fitted early this week. At this stage, I still don't know whether or not the repair has been successful. All up my impressions are not good.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The absolute worst get the Hyundai Iload
Won't change gears so we have to get it into a dealer. can't get into a dealer untill a month away. If you're looking at a renault for business please stay sway as Renault Australia has no say when someone could see your car. we have low mileage $77000 and already looking at a possible $12000.00 plus the cost of being without our company vehicle. Had an independent mechanic look at it and he can't believe we are having mechanical failures like this so early on with such low mileage. The are too expensive and the service is too slow for your business to rely on such an investment/liability Will Keep updated.

Worst transmission of any vehicle I have driven in 30 years. Nothing but troubles
Got it new. It's called an auto..it's not it is a auto shift single clutch manual. BIG difference. First problem week 2. ERG valve melted. Causing errors which were constantly reset by Renault without repair. When repaired no parts. Two weeks turn around. Next radio stopped working. Software update removed temp on display did not fix the radio. AC hose was not connected so the water from AC filled interior under the floor. Notice when stinking water poured out the back when parked on a steep hill. Next transmission issues. Poor shifts, no shif...Read more
t, missing gears, revving to the limiter before slamming into gears. Renault denied any problem. Ran into the house because it did not select reverse. Then it stopped selecting gears intermittently in traffic, stopped driving it towed to Renault they changed the ECU. Finally while driving at 80 Kph the trans blew. No drive no gears. Gearbox was replaced 3-4 weeks. Air con hose rubbed thru on a bracket Renault charged $600 to fix even though I know other vans have done exact same issue. Company runs several vans same problems to varying degrees on all of them. We are not replacing them after lease with Renault The dealer in Berwick was good. Croydon glen Waverly didn't want to know. Worst vehicle ever

Great van
The renault trafic is a great van with excellent fuel economy with over 1000kms per 90 litre tank. Very attractive in my opinion and tough. The SWB van can easily swallow a full pallet with the barn doors. I wish I had a wiper on the rear but that is a small omission.

Great work van
Love this new work van! Purchased last month and really happy with my choice. It drives well, looks good and has good fuel consumption. It also has so much storage, drink holders, compartments everywhere! Even a huge amount of storage under the seat, which other vans don't have. Would highly recommend!

Best Van I Have Ever Owned
I have now clocked up 11000km's and have to say its easily the best van i have owned. It has just had its first capped price service. Compared to the Volkswagen T5 which i had this is miles ahead in comfort and drive ability as well as way more economical (i am getting average of 5.8 ltrs /100km mixed driving). The driving position is way better than the Volkswagen and the Hyundai Iload i test drove. Have done two trips over 1000kms now and arrive feeling fresh and like i've only just driven for a couple of hours. Cabin noise is fantastic (i do have the bulkhead installed though - these are well worth their money). All in all i highly recommend the car as nothing else on the market comes close.

Great van to drive
Bought a secondhand 2015 LWB Trafic with The Lifestyle pack, first registered in 2016 and has done 32000 km.
I've had side windows installed and a rear folding seat and removed the top part of the bulkhead.
It came with some rudimentary tradies drawers which I've adapted and carpeted to suit my needs. Even with the bulkhead down it's still very quiet to drive although I'm getting some road noise over 60kmh from new tyres I've had fitted on the front.
Economy is great, I drive about 30km every day for work and I'm still getting about 1100/120...Read more

Brand New Renault Trafic 2017 and disappointing
Waited 6 months for delivery because I ordered it fully optioned. I am also glad I did not post a review within a few days and have allowed the excitement to subside. Now with 2000 km under the belt I have noticed a squeaky clutch pedal and a squeaky drivers seat. Let's also mention that the seats are terrible and too small and uncomfortable. They don't seem to hold up well with the fabric showing signs that it just is not going to last. After washing the van I noticed water had leaked inside the cabin as I found a small puddle beneath the clut...Read more
ch pedal. This is not a door seal leak as I traced the water coming from beneath the dashboard. Washing the van also will give you an idea of how the panels feel and for me it felt like everything was put together with cheap plastic clips. I am expecting more issues because the van just feels cheap. Don't buy the genuine RENAULT carpets. They will fall to bits and crumble away. I cannot believe hoe genuine OEM products are so inferior to after market offerings. These cheap synthetic carpet mats will dissolve under your feet. The plastic round clips that clip onto the tabs to hold the carpets in place will all come off, they will fall apart to bits within a month. I am so upset that I paid $80.00 for junk that actually feel like junk even when new. I'm not a happy Renault owner and only because my previous van was a Mercedes Vito I had something to compare it to. Mercedes is worth every extra dollar they ask for. I am looking forward to the day I sell this crap and get back to a quality piece of engineering.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good Van, just needs some tweaking...
I've had the van since Dec16 and have only covered 3500km, but so far so good in most areas.
Good Points: good response from 1.6L twin turbo engine, economy is ok at 9L/100km (still needs running in), rides well at highway speeds, the extra length in the cargo area is welcome over my previous 2014 Trafic, quiet in the cabin for a work van, Bluetooth works well, the button for extra grip is a good inclusion for me on sandy, boggy work sites, build quality seems much improved over the previous model, reverse camera is placed high on the tailgat...Read more

Wow! Just Wow
I am glad I waited 5 months for delivery. Nearly lost my patience and went to buy a VW. I test drove Hyundai iload, Toyota hiace, Ford transit. LDV. VW Transporter, The wait was worth it although not ideal. I optioned my LWB with rear tailgate in place of barn doors as all barn door vans decrease visibility which I didn't want to compromise. This van is a dream to drive and performance to boot. 5 year/200000km warranty. Pro+ Service centre which offers van replacement if your vehicle needs to be off the road. Perfect for someone who's income so...Read more
lely relies on being on the rd. The quality and feel is solid and quiet, air con has worked perfectly on Victoria's hot summer days. I chose the Convenience pack option $2000 & keyless start a $200 option that I definitely haven't regretted no need to insert a key up to 200 times a day. I have halved my fuel bill in my first month. Previous van 2014 transit and VW 7speed auto transporter..900km stop start driving 80litres.. amazing...after careful calculations prior to purchase comparing all 5 vans the Renault Trafic for total vehicle cost over 5 years was the cheapest by far.. worst was the Toyota Hiace. ( still can't understand why anybody would want a 1980s performing van in 2017) back to the Renault, yearly service or 30000km. Nothing compares.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

great van
2013 model 200,000KLM and still going strong, hope it keeps going. Fuel gauge tank sensor fault but I just work off the trip counter. Economical to run carrying heavy loads. Great Van best thing I ever purchased, Touch Wood! I have ensured that regular services have been done with a Renault dealer I think this is most important. I would buy another one if Renault still had this model I don't like the twin turbo 1.6-litre option, not for me engine is too small for my liking

Clutch issues each 52,000klm
I drive in Auto mode but tend to do the downshifts myself. At 107K I am again getting shudder in reverse after the same issue at 52K. That time resulted being stranded 1,600k from home. Supposedly modified slave cylinder fitted by dealer under warranty.
Not being able to adjust dash lights or having the option to install same seats as the Master are other issues. The AM band on the radio doesn't suit Australian radio frequencies.
My engine fan came off at 52K. My window motors both sides stopped working due to poorly fitted plugs about 30K...Read more

Renault Traffic Van
Van ordered June 2015, delivered 2016 Feb. We got lifestyle pack, heated seats, navman, etc.....we also optioned to have two sliding doors, either side and the barn doors for the rear.
Van looks great, sleek, clean smart. sounds solid when doors closed. Paint finish, looks good and solid.
Fogs, lights all look good. Europe’s top selling van.
Anyway what I have found so far;
I have telephoned Renault and been ignored and found my first Renault experience infuriating. I called about issues, eg seat belt and was told it was Australian standard...Read more

Solid bit of gear
I have the LWB version and surprisingly I'd have to say it drives like a car - something you wouldn't expect from such a large vehicle. Couldn't live without the reversing camera - probably prefer if it was dash mounted.
Struggling to work out how the interior lights work in the back - they seem a bit random, but it's just a small thing really. Otherwise love it.

Love this Van....
To drive this van, it feels like driving a suv. Quite, powerful twin turbo for 1.6 engine and safe me money. I did drive from Sydney to Canberra and back to Sydney, it only takes 26 ltrs fuel. I love the cruise control, very easy to use.
This the best van i ever had.
July 15th 2017 Update: My second Renault Traffic but The crew version
This is my second Renault traffic but in the Crew 6 Seaters. Bought it t brand new on January 2017.
My family loved this van for trips.
I have no problem so ever till now.
I feel bad to hear from some owner got some issues with Renault x82.
But anyway, again Im very happy to have this van for a family trip.

The auto is clunky
The "auto" transmission can have a very nasty shift down to first when slowly approaching a stop, and sometimes the change up to second is like a learner driver in a manual. It has been back to the dealer for a factory reset 3 times, and on the fourth, they changed the clutch. But it still happens. It also tries to change up too soon when climbing a hill, resulting in a slow-down and a change back to first - on a slippery steep driveway, this results in some wheelspin on takeoff and some nasty clutch smells.
Other than that, it is a great va...Read more
n, but the LWB has a dismal turning circle, and even with the reversing camera installed I have still nudged a couple of walls. As others have said, it needs more paperwork storage (an overhead bin like in my Kangoo!!) and the centre pax headrest neatly removes most of the rear view mirror visibility. GPS was not an option on this model, so I fitted my own.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Way better than expected
Have a look at the 2015 Renault Trafic - I'm really glad I did.
At first, I wasn't going to even give this van a look because I thourght they'd be the same underpowered slug like may others, but in doing my homework looking at pretty much all the vans available today, I had to see if the sales blurb was as what was said.
Having the need to work out of a van for the last 25yrs+ I can say this is the best one I've had so far against ford transit, toyota hiace, mitisbushi express, vw transporter.
There is plenty of room, the cockpit is sensibl...Read more

Hi, I have a Renault tragic from 2003, diesel, and it has been funny sometimes. A few times now the engine shuts down whilst driving, and I can't really figure out in what situation but I have the feeling it happened when I was getting more speed but it's kind of unpredictable.. in my last long trip I tried to be more careful gaining speed and it didn't happen at all.. Then, when I restart the engine it works perfectly fine, I even restarted it whilst still moving once and just continued driving. so I wonder if someone can help me with this. Also some times the preheating warning light lights up but again when I restart the engine it goes of again.. not really sure if they can both be related but doesn't seem so. Any help? Thanks a lot in advance.

Sorry I'm not sure. And if you were to get Renault involved. They more then likely would have no idea either.
Sorry I can't help you.
That's an easy fix. Sell it and buy something that doesn't come from the French lemon maker. Avoid Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi. All three are from the same family.
My guess would be the fuel rail pressure sensor.
Sounds like an electrical problem, but whether it's computer, or a sensor that fails occasionally, who knows? If it were me I would try taking it to Renault and seeing if they can diagnose it. Be aware though that intermittent faults are notoriously hard to decipher.

o drive it like a twin turbo car and not a van... and have roof bars and ladders tied on, so to be expected. I've changed the oil twice (5000km & 15000km) and will continue to change it every 10,000km to be on the safe side. Nothing else to report, except to buy one and forget about any other make of van. It just does everything well that you would expect in a van. Now, we just need to outsell the Hiace and my work here is done.
