Never had an issue with Resene. Love it!

published

As a handy man and D.I.Y guy I've used Resene a number of times on jobs for myself and others and I keep coming back to it. I honestly can't understand the negative reviews on here and they certainly have not been my experience.
It goes on smooth, is very forgiving (but don't play with it too much, it doesn't like to be overworked), sticks to anything, has great coverage and finish and dries quickly. Yes it can run - like any paint when you apply too thick!
I can definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a quality product and finish.

Good but not with a few limitations

published

I'll start by saying I think this paint should be less expensive and I do use other brands that cost less like Valspar that are go on much the same.

On the upside Resene is easy to work with and forgiving of mistakes, it looks good too and Resene have a huge range of really nice colours.

On the downside it tends to run a little too easily and it can splatter making a mess. I consider the extensive use of drop sheets with this paint essential. In my experience not easy to get off a surface if it marks it with drops so be careful.

All in all happy with Resene as a brand and have used it many times but it could make a few changes that would help its cause in what is now a very competitive market for paint.

Purchased in December 2021 at resene for A$169.00.

Hve the market sewn up in NZ and australia but the poorest quality paint ever

published

Have spent 40 yrs in the painting business and resene has to be one of the worst problematic brands ever .
Picture framing on all paints no difference if you keep a wet edge
Painting frames or windows paint dries as soon as it hits the timber
They will recommend a conditioner if you are having issues but cmon ???
Roller marks everywhere as tools are even substandard
Overpriced but no-one in NZ seems to have a choice as they're clever marketing and design fools every one
They have the lions share of the market
If only i could bring dulux paints, colortrend, farrow and ball or even fleetwood trade paints to NZ I and thousands of tradesmen would be very happy.

Purchased in September 2021 for A$145.00.

Solid bottom = Bad batch?

published

We did our research and finally decided on the colour and brand. Travelled to the other side of town and purchased lustacryl to paint 2 exterior doors. Home within 1/2 hour and opened the tin to discover that 1/5 of the paint was solid ochre. So glad that we came across this issue with Resene before spending 27k on painting our 2 story house.
Really wanted Resene to work as they have a great selection of colours.
I guess it's back to researching other brands.

Brilliant coverage, scrubbable and best colours!

published

We have used Resene spacecoat flat in triple rice cake through the front of our home. It had great coverage and so easy to go on without obvious roller marks. We bought the roller recommened at the store. Everyone comments on the colour of our home!l Its the best paint Ive used!
So impressed, i am now about to paint our whole extension interior and complete exterior of our home in Resene.
The colours are complex and meld with the surroundings. Their range and colour cards are so easy to use. They are made to show all the different strengths of the same colour and similar family of colours, so you can easily find the right tone and depth of colour.

21st technical paint

spacecote once again great material very easy to apply best to use a 8mm roller sleeve dacron for the walls have to be a bit careful it can run on its self especially when you stop at the bottom of the wall just check your work as you go.coverage is great never have a problem leaves a lovely finish when apply correctly.once again someone who bags this material DOES not know how to apply it properly it does not matter how long they have been in the trade.it does not mean you no what your doing this is a great product also make sure where you have cut in is dry before you roll other wise it can run im those areas

Excellent PMS colour range and coverage

published

I'm an experienced painter of 25 years and having not used rosene I was reluctant, needing only 4 litres of a very bright orange in a PMS colour I was expecting 4 + coats as this is the norm. After one coat of oil base undercoat to the doors and frames it was so close to covering the undercoat but two coats hit the mark and using a 4mm nap roller for the doors they looked mint. As for people having coverage problems I'd suggest if using white perhaps and a couple of drops of black tint to achieve better hiding power and still looks white to the eye. White over anything other then it self is always the hardest no matter the brand.

Spacecote is extremely durable!

published

We have used Spacecote Low Sheen throughout our home & find it to be the most durable internal low sheen we have ever used. In fact if it is left to cure properly like all water based paints around 28 days it can also be used as a chalkboard.

Wouldn't recommend

published

We have just had the interior of our whole house painted in Resene Spacecote Low Sheen. I am so disappointed with it. It shows every little mark and they are very difficult to get off. My husband was trying to find stud to put a picture up, he knocked on the wall, there are now little like dust marks in a line along the wall. Just so frustrating.

Overpriced and poor coverage.

published

I employed a painter to paint our house. We were sold on the marketing of this paint so went with it.
I found the product was amongst the dearest in its range, and amongst the worst to use. It applied very thinly and required 3 and sometimes 4 coats of paint to cover a wall. We were painting a cream wall white !
I would not recommend this product to anyone. We had a very poor and costly experience with these products.
The only positive note was that it was low odour.

Easy to apply. Great, durable finish.

published

As soon as you open the tin you can tell this is a premium product. It brushes or rolls on easily, has great hiding power and the final finish looks great and is as hard as nails. We use it in a yoga studio so get plenty of footprints & nail varnish on the walls! They clean off easily (either soapy cloth or pencil eraser), leaving an immaculate finish behind.

If you are paying someone to paint your place this would represent good value - the extra cost of the paint is nothing compared with the time saved in ease of application, hiding power and final finish.
Easy to apply. Great looking, hard wearing finish.
Little expensive, but great value all the same
