Great heater with kida around
Excellent heater for heating. Can heat my whole house easy.
We purchased this one cause it had a great star rating and it didnt have any flames or glowing areas for the little ones to get intrigued by and want to touch them. And also got it at a great price

Perfect heating solution
Purchased the Avenger 25 Plus 15 months ago. Heats a large open plan kitchen/dining/family room area on the "gas economy mode" very comfortably and efficiently. Usually set only on 19-20-21 degs. subject to outside temperature. Very happy with performance and highly recommend.

Great little heater
We have quite a small house and this little unit is perfect to warm up the large open areas. We do have it going for half of the day and then on at night until we go to bed and the house stays nice and warm. The unit is quite and will be sad to see it go soon as we are getting ducted aircon. Would highly recommend though. Ppl may complain of smell but when we had ours installed the guy put an air grill close to the unit which is why we dont smell the unpleasant odours, however when the unit is off we do have to put paper over it to avoid cold air entering the house :-(
Purchased in January 2021 at Harvey Norman for $1,100.00.

Wonderful!
We love this heater! Our home has 3.3 metre ceilings, polished floor boards, huge glass windows and this heats it up sufficiently. The installation was simple and it is very easy to use. The only suggestion that I would make to rinnai was to make the stationary vents where the heat flows from flexible so you could change the direction of the airflow but apart from that a very good, economical investment.

So warm in our large living room/kitchen/dining
We had an old gas space heater which finally gave up. We thought it was a beauty, we were so wrong.
After doing a lot of research, as I always do before we buy anything, we chose the Rinnai Avenger 25Plus, and couldn't be happier.
We can't believe how much warmer our large living room is with this heater! And it's much more economical. We could see it compared to our gas bill from the previous winter. We're actually heating the living room, kitchen and meals area. Very big room with high ceilings.
The 3m long hose is a big advantage as we mov...Read more

Headache inducing
This heater produces a very strong smell of combustion gases that it lets off into the house since it's unflued. In a moderately large area and even with cross ventilation as is the recommendation, I experienced a headache within quite a short time. Whilst I am a sensitive individual, I would recommend instead to look at a flued gas heater or just use electric heating especially if small children, pregnant women or elderly persons live in the house.
Purchased in July 2021.

Not fit for purpose
I spoke to Rennai about the requirements for a heater and was advised that an Avenger 25 would be the best model. I used it twice on cold nights on the weekend. Today I noticed that altering the temperature setting to 18 degs doesn't turn the heater off as the room temperature is shown at 24 degs. I called the tech support who after some bafflement told me that the Avenger 25 doesn't have a temperature control and the unit needs to be turned off and on manually to control the temperature. He said I should have bought an Avenger 25 plus! What do I do now as I'm not always in the room to turn it on and off?

Disappointed with supposed features
We bought the heater two months ago. It works very well if you operate it manually. Heats up the room reasonably fast and the smell is minimal compared to some other portable heaters. The heater has a pre-heat function that automatically activates when you set the timer. It is meant to turn the heater on up to an hour before the set time to pre-heat the room based on the room temperature and data from previous operation. This function doesn't work. The heater comes on exactly 10 minutes before the set time regardless of the room temperature or ...Read more
any other factors. 10 minutes is not enough to heat up the room from 13-14 degrees. This function can't be turned off or reset so at the end of the day we are left with a timer that is 10 minutes off and we just need to take that in to account when setting the timer. When you buy a heater for more than $1k with a timer you expect it to work. Rinnai tech support said I can try to get a replacement by returning it to where I bought it but there is no guarantee that this function will work on the new one. If you are looking for a heater with a timer, avoid this one. I'm also not happy with the "I don't care either way" attitude customer service Riannai provided.Purchased in March 2021 at Appliances Online for $1,198.00.

Best Gas Heater!
Best gas heater I’ve ever owned! We have a massaive open area and the heater heats it all. Just set the temp and let it do it’s thing. Easy to use and quick to start. Great for the cold mornings. Very happy with purchase and highly recommended. Eco mode is great, as heater reaches temp turns down saving gas and money.

Great Heater when used correctly
Use mainly as a backup to our wood burning heater. Works great if you don't over demand. We close off areas not used in winter. (store rooms, guest BR, etc.) Always remember any unflued gas heater needs a bit airflow. We air our house out during the day to clear any smells and vent slightly while using. It is our backup so we are not solely dependent on it. If you are going to use gas to heat, do your homework first on flued/unflued heaters and then decide. Both work when used correctly.

Excellent!!
We bought it yesterday and I feel like that our life has been changed!
I didn’t like to use our air conditioner to warm up the room cause makes room too dry that’s the reason why we bought Gus heater.
So it doesn’t makes room dry.
Quick start, warm quickly and keep warming!
We love it!!

Gas Consumption
Just bought this from Harvey, and it is chewing through the gas....hard. We are on bottled LPG and the heater has used around half a bottle in a week. Is that normal?
Would like some advice on whether or not I should be using just gas or mixture of the gas and electric option?

Toastie warm
I usually love the cold but we moved home and now it's freezing to the point where it actually bothers me.
We decided to take the leap and invest in a gas heater rather than electrical. Very happy that we did.
Positive:
Heating power and heat coverage: does a darn good job, warms up my open plan living area all the way into the hallway and into the bedrooms if we have forgotten to close the doors.
Convenient: portable and it has a 3m gas connection.
Versatile in modes, you can use electrical or gas to heat home and how you want it to h...Read more

Very disappointed and cold!
I purchased the heater in mid May this year (2018). The unit was used over two evenings and ran perfectly and warm. A bit smelly at first but that dissipated. The third time it was used, the unit stopped after ten or so minutes. A red light came on and Error code 12 displayed on the panel. According to the manual, this corresponded to "Incomplete combustion." Tested the unit on a second gas outlet. Same issue. Contacted the Help Line and a few days later the service technician attended and worked on the unit. He could find nothing wrong. The se...Read more

Questions & Answers
Matteasked
Can someone please tell if there is a difference between the avenger 25tre and the 25 plus heater. Thankyou
1 answer
Rinnai A.Rinnai
Hi Matte,
The main difference between the 2 models is the Avenger 25 plus has an added electrical element which gives the heater a boost when first starting up and can heat a larger space. The plus is also thermostatically controlled so you can set and forget and the heater will switch off when it reaches the desired temperature. You can also run the heater just on the electric element if required.

Hi Ceylan tursunbek, thanks for the question. There can be a smell associated with portable heaters when they are first turned on after not being used for a long period if time as any dust that has settled burns off.
Our technical team may be able to help troubleshoot the issue and are available on 1300 555 545 option 3.

What to do when code 11 appears?
1 answer
Rinnai A.Rinnai
Hi Jan, thanks for the question. Error 11 indicates ignition failure, the heater senses the unit hasn't switched on and shuts down as a safety feature.
Check gas supply is turned on, turn the heater OFF and then ON again. If the heater fails to ignite after 4 attempts a Service call will be required.
