    Great Heater when used correctly

    published

Use mainly as a backup to our wood burning heater. Works great if you don't over demand. We close off areas not used in winter. (store rooms, guest BR, etc.) Always remember any unflued gas heater needs a bit airflow. We air our house out during the day to clear any smells and vent slightly while using. It is our backup so we are not solely dependent on it. If you are going to use gas to heat, do your homework first on flued/unflued heaters and then decide. Both work when used correctly.

Thanks for the review and the advise regarding flued v unflued heaters SSSuave. It is important to have the correct ventilation with these heaters and sized appropriately for the room it is heating.

    Love this heater.

We have air con in our house but after adding another large room onto back of house the air con was not enough so after looking around and checking out as to go another air con unit or get a gas heater for the winter we found the Rinnai on display and was so happy with the way it pushed out the heat right across the room at a comfortable level. It is compact, quiet, and has an easy to use touch pad and was a bonus not to have to install a flue and also has a long lead so we can move it around if wanted. We are very happy with our purchase and find that it is cheaper to run than an air con.

    Without heat again

    published

Heater is one year old and needs its fourth repair. Works for a short period after each repair before emitting a stench that makes it unusable. Suffering through our second cold snap without heat. Trying to get it replaced for the last week. It's freezing and my family is cold. When it goes on the blink it seems to use high levels of gas (which is probably what's filling the house), costing me extra on refills, not to mention the added cost of using little electric heaters to try and stay warm while waiting on repair. Wouldn't buy one again.

Just purchased and it work's brilliantly, however the thermostat doesn't appear to be turning the heater off once the room temperature reaches the set temperature. For example, I had the set temp at 22 and even when the room temp reached 24 the heater was still blowing out hot air and a very low quiet rate. Any suggestions?

Once the heater reaches the temperature you have set it to, it switches to LOW heat. But this is still quite a high heat output. If it gets too hot, even on the Low setting, we turn it off. Not great but we put up with it as the heater is so damned good.

Thanks for the question Kathleen. Error code 18 could be an issue with the temperature sensor on the heater and it is shutting down as a safety precaution. A service call will be required to investigate and resolve this issue. Our service team is available Monday to Friday from 8.00am-5.30pm or you can book online at http://www.rinnai.com.au/support-resources/online-service-booking/
