Hello All, I am an installer. Today I have done second installation of rennai and I would not recommend to buy this unit. Where to start 1) electrical termination arrangements are very poor and diffult to make proper connection without boot laces . Even if u use boot laces risk of losing screws inside the unit.hard to install. 2) flare nuts are poor design and can easily break the copper flare. Last unit had to go through the warranty process I am hopping this one too.will update you soon. BR U

Enjoying our new Rinnai Inverter Split System Air Conditioner
Lat split system we had was a Daikin but this was more affordable and modern. The size of the system was as required by the size of room, which is a loungeroom. We run it quite warm - at 26.0 degrees as I dont like to feel chilly although hubbie likes it arctic! He accepts that 26 degrees will keep the room nice and cool even in those 47 degree days in January, we lived in the lounge-room as its the only air-conditioned room. The Rinnai is quiet, one click on and off and I was super surprised to see our electricity bill for the summer 3 mo...Read more
nths period was only up $150! Because it seems cheap to run, we tend to put it on as soon as we feel a little warm, but just stick to 26 degrees. If its actually cooler outside, then you just get fresh air, which is great because the room can get airless. Do your research of course, but we love this. On the downside we were not happy when Octopuss, their installer, cancelled stating illness on the day of our install. That meant we had to go to the back of the queue and wait over 3 weeks with no definite install date! I cancelled the install and we organised through McDonnell who were cheaper and whilst we still had to wait at least 2 weeks, its the principal right?Purchased in January 2021 at Harvey Norman Retail Stores - Appliances for $1,098.00.

STILL NOT WORKING
Had 2nd Rinnai unit fitted friday 18th of oct under warranty by tech that rinnai organised
surprise! it does not work either. This one has a different fault to the first one, tech thinks there is a blockage
stopping the refrigerant so now we have a really expensive fan. maybe the third time will be the charm
Quality control might be a good idea to look into guys ?
Still not happy and its going to be 34 degrees on thursday maybe you could send me a couple of ice blocks .
When i get one that works i will write a better review until then thanks RINNAI.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
purchased the rinnai 8kw split system from harvey norman installed by the recommended installer. product was deemed faulty by the installer straight out of the box, tripping the safety switch as soon as the compressor turned on now having to agree to pay another $270 dollars to have rinnai tech to come out and inspect the faulty unit and being treated like we have done something wrong in the process, very poor customer service on rinnai's behalf . warranty process is a joke, i would never buy a rinnai prouct again in my life!

Very good value for money
Bought this 7.0kW system for an open living/dining room which is about 50 square metres. Throughout summer it performed very well, cooled down the entire living space within a matter of 10 minutes. Fairly quiet, nice looking design and was one of the cheapest air cons going around.

Perfect for small room
Purchased in November from Harvey Norman for bedroom use. 2.5KW easily cooled down room on over 40+° days over summer. Great energy rating. We generally set at 22° on medium fan and it’s perfect. Didn’t make a huge impact on our energy bills. Quick to turn on and cool. Easy remote functions with very easy timer!!!
Just started using heat setting to warm room up. Warms up in ok time. We just close door on colder nights. Timer function great to set so not on all night.
Very quiet. Temperature lights up on unit.
Installed through Harvey Norman during installation special. Small unit outside.
Great brand. Would purchase a Rinnai again.

Do not buy!
I went ahead with rinnai because of the built in WIFI and the attractive price point. Bought it from Good Guys Narre Warren. However, immediately after installation the indoor unit started making a loud noise as soon as it was turned on. And its loud enough that there is basically no point in using the unit at all. The installation guy washed his hands off saying its not his problem and I need to contact Good Guys. And the good guys washed their hands off by saying I need to get in touch with Rinnai!
Now I purchased the units in Feb 2022. We ar...Read more

faulty after 2 weeks
purchased brand new, stopped working 2 weeks after install with minimal use.
Waited for 3 weeks for technician to visit and confirm it was faulty. the service team at 1st care now wants me to pay an installer to remove the unit so they can replace the faulty part then pay out of pocket again to have it installed. Will escalate this to ACCC

Noisy once turned off
The unit cools and heats fine.
Once turned off however the unit continues to make noises intermittently for over 24 hours. The unit is in the bedroom and hence with all the noise it is impossible to get a good sleep.
I have turned off the power to the building and it seems to stop the noise from the unit. Once the power is turned back on the unit starts making noise again even though the unit isn’t turned on.
I have had the installer come out to look at it he says it is an issue with the unit. I have since called Rinnai and they haven’t...Read more
been able to get out to my house and told me the earliest they could was the 31st Jan. I have also been told that if they deem it the fault of the installer they won’t cover it under warranty and will have me pay the call out fee of 300 odd dollars and then it’s up to me to recoup the money for the installer. Ithe unit is only a few months old, purchased 15th October 2018. I have video of the unit and the noise. An extremely frustrating situation.3 comments

Installed but wifi not working
Aircon cooling and fan works fine, no complaints there (as yet). But the Wifi control feature can not be configured or detected. I'll wait to hear back from Rinnai about any possible fixes, but I suspect the aircon is faulty. I use wifi-sniffing tools on my laptop and can't find any new wifi access point through which an aircon could be configured. Otherwise, the unit takes 30seconds to turn off once it has been running, which seems a little bit weird. Good thing about wall-unit is that it is smaller in length than equivalent sized units from other manufactures.

Hello, we are thinking about buying two HSNRQ70B from Harvey Norman, just reading the reviews there are some horrid reviews. Is it correct if there is a warranty issue the purchaser is charged a call out fee by a technician and might be waiting months for the unit to be fixed.
2 answers
I have no idea. But the company who sold you the unit usually is responsible for working with their supplier on warranty issues. Why not direct your question to the department of fair trade. I have the same issue with my solar panels. I have to pay travel $300 to get their technician out to replace a panel. I paid $66 in power this term....and my aircon goes all day and is usually turned off at 6pm.

My 6mth old unit is suddenly not heating well. Air coming out is now only mildly warm but barely making a difference to house temperature . Previously warmed house well. Setting higher temp doesn’t make any difference. Fan is blowing but like a mild cool breeze. Set heating temp at 26 Room ran all night room temp only at 15 is only about 20sqm space.

I recently had a 3.5kw q series installed. Functions awesomely so far considering i was so sceptical of buying this brand. If all goes well i will be replacing 4 more box aircons with splits this year in my home. I only have one problem and its really doing my head in, and from research its doing the same to many others. Wifi worked great u til my modem failed. Upon replacement, its impossible to reconnect. I go through all the procedures only to get configuration failed message. I did read somewhere that there should be a wifi signal illuminated indicator on the wall unit, but i dont see anything. Could it be, rinnais server still has my old modem details in its system and cant override with a new one? I wont be holding my breath getting any kind of prompt reply or call back from them as i read everywhere, their after sales service is poor.

Hi Craig, Thank you for your question. Generally with Wifi connected products there can be a range of considerations outside of the product (internet provider, router settings,, amount of devices connected) which can cause connectivity issues. In the first instance, we would suggest that you try deleting the app from your mobile completely, resinstall, then reconnect to your unit.
Thank you
Rinnai Australia
That was the first thing i did. I deleted the app, rebooted the phone and even switched the unit off at the main switch. One thing i cant be definitive of, is whether the inside unit should be showing an illuminated wifi signal indicator. That may help me with my troubleshooting. I have not opened the unit. Does it have a separate wifi dongle that maybe i could unplug and reconnect? Or it it integral with the units circuitboard.
Is your modem 2.4 it willonly work on 2.4
