Joining the chorus of bad reviews of this product. Mine lasted little over a year, with very intermittent/light use. Even before the motor died blending a salad dressing of all things (hardly onerous) I found it really difficult to get the blade head on and off the motor unit, and the included chopping blade and pot was totally useless for preparing anything. Really regret not looking at the reviews before buying this one, I've previously had better luck with very cheap stick blenders but am now trying to find something that will hopefully actually last as I hate things going into landfill.

Had one of these that we used once then not again for two years.
When to use it just after warranty expired but it failed right then, only used it that once. Motors don't like to sit around so we dismissed that as bad luck, many reviews suggest otherwise but...
So we happen to find a great price on one and see how it goes, if it lives then great we have spare attachments, if it doesn't I wont be buying Russel Hobbs again.
We have bought a few Russel Hobbs items which were all very good so we are hopeful that our new one has had its problem...

I bought for quick blending so I don't have to set up my big blender every time but it is such a disappointment. It is such a waste of money. It doesn't blend at all. forgot about the hard ones like pepper but the the soft ones like tomatoes. Do not buy it . Stay way! They look fancy but good for nothing.

RUBBISH!!! It worked well up to the day it died...one week after the warranty expired! This is typical of electrical items. I am now looking for a heavy duty stick blender. It didn't last anywhere near long enough!!

I had a cheap just to do stick, that couldn't do anything then I got a Russell Hobbs it can Crush Ice and nuts so easily in the mini chopper I had been doing all these by moter and pessel, I didn't realise that Russell Hobbs had such an multimunfuctional stick mixer, and it is made of strong steel as well.and has a 2 year warranty included not all companies offer that long, I have other Russell Hobbs Sunbeam and small Krupps Appliances. I choose them for their strength, power, and multifunctional purpopses and that will last a life time...

Bought this from Big W in 2013. Wouldn't say 2-3 years is a substantial life cycle and continue to believe these companies don't make 'em like they used to. Would a conspiracy to manufacture parts to last just outside the company and Australian consumer warranty be too farfetched? Right off the bat the motor struggled to whisk or chop denser food items; say a thicker pancake batter, creaming butter and sugar, etc. We predominantly used it to make smoothies after that, which it did well at using frozen berries and banana. Apples, kale you're was...
Read moreting your time. The chopper did alright at making homemade hummus and biscuits/nuts for baking bases. Not really a reflection on this brand itself but stick mixers are fantastic for blending soup in the pot, and easy to detach and clean. Shame the longevity wasn't there and will seek another brand to replace this one. Companies really must pick up the responsibility to make sturdier products/motors, offer better warranty and minimise landfill waste. Will look for longer warranties because 1 year isn't telling me you have confidence in your own product.

I was given this as a gift as my previous well-known brand was too difficult to unclip the attachments.
The RH worked well but about 8 months down the track (after limited use) the chopping attachment won't anchor to the spindle. What a useless piece of .........!
I have emailed RH regarding this as I also had a slow cooker which didn't even work on Day One!
Am looking forward to their reply!!!!!!!!!!

Piece of crap, the website says"products to make life easier",Always makes more work and more mess. Can't chop ice, top heavy, Perfect gift for someone you don't like, maybe the mother in law. Try putting more thought into making it functional and less into making it pretty, cheap plastic internals. Buy a sunbeam or Braun

Bought this product expecting it to be good. Our sunbeam one had broken, so thought we would replace with a better product. We were wrong. Plastic broke on blender and won't spin. Handle heats up and can't use it too when using stick blender which is dangerous. Don't buy this product.

Mine lasted 2.5years with 3-4 times per week use. I am going to buy a new one for $59 at big W. I had a ba mix before . I thought it was the best because I paid so much but this was as strong. My ba mix lasted about 4 years which, if you compare dollar value, did not give me that much value. While the Russle simply stopped working, bamix had a slow death over time...mind you, nearly $30 for a bamix part if you lose it while dish washing.
My model was 650w. I hope they make them the same.
P.s I never used the attachments.
I can't believe the bad reviews. I have had mine now for 8 months and I love it to bits. It is so versatile. I would use it an average 3-4 times a week. I haven't tried to make a cake with it yet but I have crumbed biscuits for cheesecake bases, whipped cream, smoothed lumpy white sauces and gravy, made pancake batter, chopped cold chocolate. My daughters came home for Christmas and saw it in action and all three of them want one now. A bonus that is not mentioned is that both the non slip rubber mat bases can also be used as a lid and put direct into the fridge!

Motor burnt out after less than 12 months of use. Prior to this there was a burning smell coming from the unit. Unfortunately we do not have the receipt to take it back. The mixer is poorly built, it would not even mix well. I would not recommend this product, get another brand.

I purchased this stick mixer a couple of weeks ago, without checking reviews. Well what a mistake I made, on its second use the blade in the bowl attachment refused to spin. I took the lid off and the plastic part of the blade had heated up so much it burnt my hand and when I dropped it broke into five different pieces. I took it back to the store I purchased it from and they offered to exchange it for a new one, lucky for me they had none in stock so I ended up with a sunbeam stick master plus instead. Honestly, I won't ever be buying anything Russell Hobbs again, what a shame.
Just received our stick mixer. Tried to insert base onto stem but nodules inside base have flawed areas and will not fit into groove in stem. Says line up open lock with arrow (that's okay) but when you try to twist to lock (locked lock) it only moves 2mm, hardly enought for secure use. Am reluctant to use force as this piece of junk is likely to break in my hand and cause an injury. Last Russell Hobbs product I will ever purchase.

This broke down the very first time I used it. I was trying to purée corn kernels for corn soup. It did a really poor job with the jar and blades attachment so I tried to use the stick and cup attachment instead. It worked fora couple of seconds then stopped and never worked again. Appalling. This is a brand I have trusted and paid more for this item thinking it would be hardier than a cheaper brand. What a waste of money.

Used this product once to make crumble for dessert. Followed all instructions but motor burnt out. Really disappointing as I had always thought brand was reputable. Back to a Bamix for me.
I loved this when I bought it, it replaced a very old Braun stick blender (12 years). I bought it in July, by October the Motor had burnt out. I would not recommend this product.

I think I got 6 uses out of the stick mixer before the poor quality plastic parts broke. I only had a chance to try the other gadgets a couple of times with poor results.
I would suggest that this is a gimmick device.
I will do it all by hand next time.
Looks good, sounds good

A good machine but use of poor quality component meant it broke while chopping pitted dates
This was a good machine to either puree soups using the stick or make small batches of sauces/dressings using the small bowl attachment. If using the stick to blend, I had to be careful because it could easily shoot the pot contents out (as mentioned by another reviewer), but it was manageable. I've occasionally found that the mini chopping bowl is too small for what I need if making a bit extra of something (cooking for 2 people), but have just processed in batches. The set looks good, was very convenient and easy to wash.
However, after bl...
Read moreending oats, nuts and 3 halved and pitted dates using the mini chopper blade and bowl, the blade stopped turning. I discovered that the corners of the plastic component that locks the blade into the lid/motor unit had been stripped down. Dates can be tough to chop, and are the toughest ingredient I have attempted to put through this chopper. It's all very well to have a powerful motor and stainless steel blades, but the other parts also need to be strong enough to withstand chopping a few pitted, halved dates without wearing down. Very disappointing. Attractive, convenient, easy to wash. Poor quality material used in a key component meant it broke when chopping a few dates.Has anyone else had trouble using the stick mixer to blend liquids? No matter what size or shape of container or amount of liquid I have, the mixer seems to be too aggressive in its action, and I immediately have the liquid flying out of the container onto my bench and kitchen walls.
Haven't used it with the whisk or blender bit yet, so they might be better...

I was given this mixer as a gift at Christmas (I HAD) asked for one. Within 6 months the motor had burnt out and thankfully I had the receipt and could take it back and exchange it. The second one has just burned out as well! It's fantastic when its working and versatile- I used it all the time- but I certainly didn't over work it. I bought a cheap one from Kmart a few years ago- found that in the cupboard and its still going!

Short life, burned out quick,
I received this as a Christmas gift in 2011 so had it for 18 months with little use in the first 12 months. I had used it previously to puree soups and it would either have a funny smell or a tiny bit of smoke. Then it just stopped working at about 18 months. I would not buy this brand again. I had a Breville one previously that I had for about four years and lost when our house flooded.
I did like how it came with the chopper attachment and the beater as it was handy when doing whipped cream and chopping nuts etc.
Very short life span. Would heat very quickly when in use particularly on the lower setting.

I first purchased this blender so I could puree my soups and make some sauces like pesto and thai currie sauces with the small processor. After only using it the 2nd time I noticed a tiny bit of smoke coming out of the engine (I had only been pressing the button for about half a minute!) I thought it must have been faulty so I took it back to Big W, where I had purchased it from, and replaced it with a new one. After 3 months and just 2 more uses (I have a second older stick blender that i use for everyday purposes) the new one started doing a ...

We purchased this blender from Big W to puree our new baby's food. We used it every day and it was great until after 8 months it just stopped working. It does come with a 2 year warranty so I need to return it for a refund or replacement. I probably won't buy the same brand again due to the short life span.
Looks good. Comes with many accessories. Well priced.
Failed after only 8 months. Made in China.
I have had mine for a few months now and can't fault it yet...smoothies, soup processing and vege chopping all good so far.

Read morere. It is also quite an effort to hold the rubber buttons in the 'on' position the entire time - no on-off switch, you have to hold it in at all times to make it go. I have to use two hands to hold it on and try to move it around. Looking for replacement already and I've only used it twice. Really disappointed.
