Tradesman spend the money

published

THis unit has worked ok for me as it is compatible with all of the Ryobi battery range for my drill. THe machine is ok. It is the convenience of the battery that I like. Its suction is ok but not remarkable. THe hole on the bottom is not as easy to suck up stuff as other models I have owned. it opens easy and is easy to empty. If in doubt buy it if you own the batteries.

Perfect for quick clean ups

published

Bought this to clean up around our fireplace and general shed type quick cleans. Goes really well. Made the mistake of giving it to my 6yo who vacuumed out his wet cubby house. After sucking in a fair bit of water it still powered on, no dramas and hasn't missed a beat since

Handy and easy to use

published

The suction of this vacuum is good, and I find that it is quick to charge and easy to move/carry.

The suction is loud though, which makes it a bit unpleasant to use (especially in confined spaces)

The vacuum charges quickly.

Easy to carry around/manoeuvre to vacuum hard to get places and car interior.

Very poor results

So disappointed with this l. Have a ryobi grass trimmer and mower but this was a waste of money. It just doesn't pick up anything but a few things like breadcrumbs. Doesnt work well on car upholstery and has absolutely no effect on pet hair. U expect a small hand vacuum would he good for upholstery etc but unfortunately not this one.

Love my hand vac

published

If you have other Ryobi tools, the Ryobi Hand vac is awesome! Probably not worth it if you have to get a battery for it as well, but if you have existing Ryobi tools and batteries, this is awesome! Very lightweight and easy to use with good battery life, I find it very handy to grab it and quickly clean up the couch, the car, crumbs on the floor etc. without having to get the full vacuum cleaner out and plug it in. Really quick and easy to empty too, I use mine a lot.

Average performance, convenient

published

Had mine for over a year and its still going with regular use. Handy for small jobs around the workshop, house or in the car. Its certainly not going to break your wrist with the torque at start up. Its gutless compared to most other handheld vacs. The suction is a lot less than even some cheapie 12v battery handhelds. On the upside, even low Ah batteries last quite a while. I find the sliding brush/nozzle attachment annoying and it clogs easily but the machine doesn't suck well enough without it. The internal filter is hard to clean. Convenient that it takes the One Plus batteries and has low battery drain, but performance-wise its a bit below average.

Not Bad

published

Bought this vac from Bunnings as they seem to be the only shop to sell
the Ryobi one system.
If you have the Ryobi one system then this is a good addition.
It has very good suction but works better on hard surfaces than carpet.
Definitely worth the $49.00 I paid.

Fairly good

published

I find this vacuum pretty good for cleaning the car because it saves me having to use the vacuum cleaner with a power cord. It works well but it's not spectacular either. I paid $49 for this tool in September 2015 from Bunnings in Brisbane. I would only suggest buying this if you have other Ryobi One tools. It is by no means a bad hand held vacuum in fact it is quite good. They're probably plenty of other products do a similar or even better job. But if you already has the Ryobi One system then it is probably a sensible buy.

Could do with better suction

published

Loud, limited suction
easy to clean, cheap, good batteries.

It seems to struggle with the small stones common place in the footwell of cars, but very good for quick clean up of timber shavings when doing woodwork.
Only Bunnings sells Ryobi items in Australia.

Bit noisy . but does a great job

I bought the Ryobi "one system", drill, angle grinder, etc, and this little vacuum for the cat hair on the wifes chair. Wife is happy with this, so that's all that matters.

Pretty good work site vacuum

published

I have one of these at work and it gets a bit of a hammering. It is has good suction and being able to swap batteries is a huge advantage over many other handy vacs that need to be recharged before re-use. When vacuuming fine stuff I found that the filter can clog fairly quickly and require frequent emptying. You do need to be careful when putting it back together as if you do not seat the seals properly you will simply redistribute the dust you are trying to collect.
Quite powerful and swapping batteries is great
Clogs quickly on fine material (plaster dust), pretty noisy

The exact opposite of a vacuum cleaner

published

I bought this clean up from little jobs around the house and at work. My first usage was to vacuum the inside of my car. All it did was pick up a portion of the dirt, swirl it into a powder and spew it out all through the upholstery and dash. It has actually made what should of been a quick and easy job into a pain.
Don't get me wrong. The Ryobi brand of tools are pretty good, I have numerous tools from the One+ series and they compete with more expensive brands. But this product will be going back for a refund.
Great for spreading a fine layer of dust over a large area
It spreads a fine layer of dust over everything

Good product

published

Good suction, sturdy and built well. It's loud, but that's pretty normal. Compared to my previous Kambrook 12v one, this one is miles better. Definitely recommend. Battery easily removable as per all of one+ products. Does not come with a stand or hook or anything, if that bothers you .
Excellent suction.
Nothing really.

Great performer. Wouldn't like to be without it.

published

This is an appliance that has far exceeded my expectations. With four young children this hand held vac gets used daily. The power of the suction is fabulous - it has never failed to clean up anything I have used it on (dry messes only!). It has a good holding capacity so that it doesn't need emptying each time (for me it would be about once a month!).The battery detaches easily and charges quickly. I have a Dyson as my 'big' vacuum cleaner. When I was at a friend's house I used her hand held Dyson and felt very disappointed with it compared to my Ryobi.
Battery is interchangeable with other Ryobi products. Battery is easily removed and charges quickly and easily. Suction power is briliant. Easy care - no maintenance. Comfortable to hold.

What is the suction Air Watts?

1 answer
bimbimbi
bimbimbi

All I can advise are the following specs:
1. The operating power supply is 18V DC
2. The current draw (specified on the serial No. plate on the vacuum cleaner quotes 7.5 amps
3. Under Ohm's Law the Power rating would be 135 Watts
4. The air-flow rate of 14.1 litres/sec,
(specified by Ryobi (https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/details/18v-one-hand-vac-dry-only-chv182g).
5. An obvious constraint to air flow is the small cross-sectional area of the inlet side of the suction tube.
I measure that as 1.1cm2. The effective cross-sectional area might be slightly less than that due to the brush
component of the inlet tube.
Other than that, I cannot advise you. I am not an electrical engineer. Nor am I conversant with fluid dynamics.

Anyone have the same problem I have with this vacuum cleaner? The dust flap has somehow disintegrated and allows any collected dirt to fall back out of the dust retainer once the machine has been switched off! Seemed to work okay for what is was purchased for in the beginning, but I wouldn't say it's had a great deal of use. Hopefully a spare part is available and there's more to come on this aspect from Bunnings!

Further to the above.....Approaches to Bunnings to obtain a replacement part wasn't the most productive - they told me Ryobi had no part (dust flap) available! After contacting Ryobi, I was told the information from Bunnings was incorrect and the part I was looking for WAS available. Ryobi sent a replacement part - free of charge - directly to me for the inconvenience I was put through by Bunnings. The very reason I intend to stick with Ryobi in the tool buying department. You can't ask for better customer service or relations than that - and their entry level tools seem to be the best out of the cheaper brands.

Have a handheld vacuum which is a great tool. However, the filter has become very hard and I need a replacement. Bunnings unhelpful. Can I purchase a new filter on line?
