Sceptical but now a fan!

published

Could never start petrol mower always needs help due to arthritis. As soon as we got home we assembled it and plugged her in. Due a good job. Smaller, lighter, quieter than petrol mower. Manouvouable, easy to stop and start. Cord takes getting used too. Once you used it you won't go back to oil, maintenance and the heaviness. I can mow when I want to don't need help any more. As a busy mum and Carer it has mad life easier. love it!

Steering clear

Bought one, ran great at first 10 minutes or so, turned off to empty grass & wouldn’t start up again.
Got it replaced & new one would not start at all.

Failure on production line quality control i guess.

Back to dirty, smelly, noisy but functional 4 strokes for me.

Good mower, battery could be better

published

While this is a really solid mower for small areas the battery limits the range to about 45 mins to an hour. Added to this the issue where the battery seems to discharge while in storage and its a but of a pain.

Having said that I really like it so far.

Light lawns

published

This mower was given to me so I'm unsure of the price but it's an ok mower, as long as the lawn is dry and not too long it can do a pretty good job. The catcher is angled badly or maybe too small at the opening as the grass tends to get caught before flying into the catcher and clogs it up at times. Generally an ok mower for a small lawn.

Just OK

published

The batteries die way too fast on this, it's better for the environment however being battery operated. I can only mow for 15-20 mins and the battery dies. I need to have 1 battery on charge while the other is being used to swap them over. I have 600 square metres of land and it should only take 1 hour to mow... it took me 3 hours with this mower. Not for me, I'll go back to 4 stroke petrol thanks.

Ryobi 36V 4.0ah Li-Ion Cordless Lawn Mower

published

This mower is good for 20 minutes if that. If your grass is long you'll get 5. Battery takes forever to charge.
Really not worth it. I think I'll take mine back to Bunnnings today. I doubt they'll be able to help me though.
See how grumpy i am now!!!

Good mower but not enough battery life

published

This brand new mower works well as far as cutting and collecting goes, but the battery only lasts for about 20 minutes and it takes 5+ hours to charge from flat!! We have only had it two days, so 10 hours of charging for about 40 minutes of mowing. Our grass isn't that long; my wife uses the mower to cut around our trees and bushes while I'm on the ride-on. I would recommend this mower only to people who have a small garden with nice manageable lawn. I'm taking it back to Bunnings this afternoon and will put the refund towards a self-drive, mulching petrol mower.

Mower is a good idea
Battery and or charger not working
Can't believe new battery is $269
Won't be buying another one as old style petrol mower won't let me down like this and even if it does will be able to get it fixed without having to fork out too much money

Ryobi 36v battery mower goes well for easy start up.

I purchased the demo from Bunnings for $300 with a battery & charger when my 25 year old FLYMO lead mower broke the plastic mount. I mowed very long grass on setting 5 took it slow and are happy with the results. Now I can use setting 2 every 2 weeks and keep any snakes away from the house.

Out of the box awesome

published

Bought this mower for my small yard about 30 square metres of lawn. Too small to bother with petrol. Cuts through my buffalo with ease, on the second lowest setting. Wheels are a bit narrow and get bogged a bit with spongy fresh lawn. Finely cuts up the lawn which is awesome for top soil, and the whole unit packs away and is light enough to hang up on the wall. Bought my dad one too for his lawn, he loves it as well.

Great for small lawns

published

I was worried about how well a battery mower would work, but I had enough of petrol mowers so I took the chance. After mowing every 2 weeks for a couple of months, I am more than happy with the performance of this mower.
I have about 65sqm of new dense buffalo in the backyard, about 50sqm of weeds, sticks, and stones in the front yard, and a nature strip that looked like a neglected wheat field. The mower easily gets through all three lawns on less than half a battery. It is quiet, and easy to push.
The main negative is that it looks ugly and the body is all plastic, but not a problem so far. It looks more like a children's toy than a lawn mower and the pointless "racing" grooves just catch all the dust and grass clippings.

Coming up to 2 years now and the mower is still working well. I can still mow all 3 areas of lawn (which aren't very big as per above) with less than half a battery.

Brilliant lawnmower for urban garden

published

We have a 50m2 patch of Sir Walter Buffalo and didn't want to go to effort of petrol fumes, noise etc After much research spent the $500+ and am very happy. It starts instantaneously, is quiet, no fumes, easy to push and does a very good job. With Buffalo its better to cut a bit long so I have it 3/5 (5 being shortest) and never had problems with cutting out or struggling. Easy to store. Battery will do over 2 full lawns plus possibly 3rd havent tried. cant vouch for reliability only used it twice. As battery tech improves and lawns get smaller, Id say it will replace petrol mowers (commercial guys not inc).
Good cutting performance, easy, quality build
Expensive

This is a marvellous mower - very light, very powerful, starts first time every time and, best of all, no need to drive to the petrol station to get petrol all the time: just plug it in to recharge when you've finished. One charge is more than enough for our huge lawn area. Far more environmentally friendly than old-fashioned petrol mowers, nice and quiet and cuts beautifully. The one battery can be swapped into the cordless edger to complete the job.
Light, convenient, quiet, no pollution, easy to use, cuts beautifully.
Expensive. Could only buy it at Bunnings.

why do my ryobi stop working randomly

I really have no idea I am afraid, I do not have this issue, is it because the grass catcher is getting full, plus how old is your battery, these are the only things I have heard of.

less than 1 year, is there any sensor or button on the mower, I watched a vedio but not this model which got same.problem as mine, there is a red button, but nothing on my mower.

The only time my Ryobi stops and then after a short stop can start again only to stop again is due to the battery being too low to operate try recharging your battery fully and if it contiunes your battery if its more thasn 3 years old may need replacing. Hope it helps.

Why does mower stop when battery has 2 lights on?

I have the same issue, mower cuts out at about half battery. If I charge back up works fine again. When batteries cut out on mower they still work fine in othe Ryobi devices. I’m convinced problem lies with the mower circuitry that monitors battery voltage/ capacity.
