Poor head support
My newborn’s head flops around dangerously. Its installed correctly but we now have to reinstall it with towels to try get the seat to tilt back further. I’ve never had this issue with other branded capsules so very disappointed.
The buckles dig in to his little legs and the sun canopy is useless.

Nice but not a necessity
We hired the capsule (April 2013 model) for 1st bub and personally didn’t think the capsule was necessary for us.
Pros
- handy when bub is sleeping
- easier for my hubby to get her in and out of seat as he is very tall it’s harder for him to get her in when the capsule is already in the car
- easy to get in and out of car
Cons
- no attachment for my pram (reds baby jive)
- I don’t like the material, it’s a velvet fabric so gets really hot. Not ideal when we are going into summer. In looking at newer models I think they have changed the fabric to something lighter?

Great for the first few months
This capsule made travelling around with a newborn so much easier as it was compatible with our stroller. We will be using it again with our second baby. Id suggest to families that it be installed professionally as there were a few finicky things about the installation.
The only issues we had was that the front seats of the car had to be pushed forward quite far to fit the seat in meaning mine or my husbands legs would be nearly touching the front of the car (We have a Honda Accord Euro 2012 as well so its not a small car). Also the material...Read more
of the padding is not breathable at all. Our daughter would sweat and cry even with the air conditioning on full. Eventually we had to undress her as much as we could before placing her in the seat and then redress her afterward. This wasnt so much of an issue in the cooler months however in summer it absolutely wasnt ideal.

Did it's job with a few quibbles
I usually only review things I love and potentially would review something I would warn people off buying. This capsule isnt in either camp but since I reviewed my new baby seat I thought I'd complete the picture.
This has been our first capsule so nothing to compare it to. It has done its job.
I have found the harness loosening apparatus not that easy to use and getting our wriggling baby in and out has always been a chore, a few times one side of the harness has come undone, My fault but again not helped by increased difficulty.

Nah
At first it was alright but after a couple of uses, the buckles got stiff and were a pain to use. Wouldn't recommend, unless your budget pleads you too. It's a pretty one though, in terms of how it looks and feels, my kid was very comfortable in it when we first got it.

More cons than pros- Unity 2248
Pros-
Adapter options make it easy to clip baby in and out of various model prams which is the primary reason we purchased it. Fantastic not having to wake up your sleeping infant.
Customer service. Britax company reply to questions and seem easy to deal with.
Supposed to last for up to 12 months while other capsules only last until approximately 6 months.
Cons-
Longevity. I don't feel that the capsule has the longevity of up to 12 months. Our 2 1/2 month old is on the last strap height. While my baby is above average for height and weight, I stlll would have expected it to last for at least 7-9 months for a bigger baby, which will not be the case. ...Read more
Weight. The Unity is lovely and sturdy, but damn, it has some weight. I'm not sure how you would be able to lift the capsule and an older baby out without injuring yourself. Fabric. Our Unity model had a felt/velvet like fabric which I thought felt soft and lovely. Unfortunately, I found our baby was constantly overhearing and dripping in sweat when he was taken out of it (despite cooler days and air conditioning in car). We had to line it with a cotton tea towel to absorb some of the sweat. I have since seen newer models that appear to have a more breathable fabric, so I would definately recommend that version. Sunshade. Constantly in the way of the handle when pushing it back. You have to completely remove the sunshade to move the handle back to the floor to stop it rocking. Again, newer Unity models have a stretchy sunshade in a different fabric which would likely eliminate this problem. Ease of use. It is very easy to accidentally make a mistake in putting baby in the car. The strap adjuster at the base of the seat is difficult to use when installed as it is very close to the seat. The anchor belt threads into two anchor points at the back of the capsule which you really can only check by feel. I nearly did not secure one of them properly one time until I triple checked and noticed the belt was not completely in. Way too easy to not safely secure in your baby. Use with Strider compact adapter. The Strider Compact adapters where hard to use as it required two hands to unclip the capsule from the pram, then you had to lift the capsule from the sides and try to move your hands up to the top of the handle to hold it. Not impossible, but just really awkward. Overall, I would not purchase this model capsule again, but if someone let me borrow it I would use it if it was winter. I'm not sure if other brands or models are any better and easier to use, but it is nice to have the option to not wake a sleeping baby up, which is DEFINATELY worth it!Similar opinion? Does the job!
I hired the capsule as I didn't feel the need to buy (in hindsight I should have as I'm pregnant again). My baby is 7 months is 75% height and 98% weight and still fits well with room to grow. The capsule with my 10kg baby is a little heavy now but I don't tend to carry her in it any more unless its to attach to the stroller so she can continue to sleep. I also hired the conversion bar to allow the capsule to fit to my stroller (snap 4). I can flip open the stroller with one hand, fit the converter bar and drop the capsule into the locks in less than 30 seconds -its been brilliant!

Solid but cumbersome and heavy
I bought this capsule in 2013 mainly because of it's compatability with the Mountain Buggy Swift. While I appreciated the convenience of this capsule with my first baby - I always felt it was really heavy and the capsule release latch would sometimes be sticky when removing from the base. It's a sturdy unit. However with my second baby I've found these issues to be even more an issue since the need to carry the capsule with a toddler in tow has proven to be extremely hard work. I also find that the infant insert is almost pointless as its barely a head support and with out it there is little padding for the infants back and bottom. I've since tested other capsules that are much lighter, more slim line and feel more comfortable to carry.

Too Heavy and Hot also Not suited for moulded car seats
Capsule itself is far too heavy and has far too much "unbreathable" padding which caused our baby to constantly overheat and sweat horrifically. Took capsule to plunket nz to get it installed by their trained car seat installer and she advised that the capsule was not ideal as straps weren't even and padding around bubs could cause heatstroke. It also didn't fit our cars seats properly either and needed a towel proped underneath (plunket suggested this was unsafe and to get bubs in her carseat asap) Not britax fault, but would only consider purchasing if your seats were flat and not shaped to fit the body. Would be ok for cooler seasons and for those with good upper arm strength... useless for woment recovering from c sections.

Fantastic for us
Never had a problem. We did do a lot of 'trial runs' before baby was born to get used to getting it in and out and putting the strap through the plastic slots properly which can be tricky but once you are used to it, you can do it blindfolded. We stopped taking the capsule out of the car with baby after a maybe 7 months (before she used the pram seat) but still served as her rearward facing car seat till she was about 15 months old. This I was really happy with as we always wanted her to be rear facing for as long as possible and this capsule definitely allowed us to do that.

So many frustrating things about this product
For starters the base is IMPOSSIBLE to get level in the back seat. The metal buckle behind the capsule that holds the straps together gets caught all the time. There isn't enough space for it to travel through the plastic form and makes it so that one strap is tighter than the other. The canopy ALWAYS pops off and doesn't sit straight. The gap between the largest two heights for the upper straps is too large. My baby is too tall for the lower level but the next one up is way too high. Very poorly designed seat.

Doesn't last long as too heavy
If I had my time again, I wouldn't buy a capsule.
Capsules are so heavy, especially with a growing baby in them. My mum was right!
We stopped pulling ours out of the car at about 8 weeks, so it was a big waste of money. It is just too heavy. You couldn't take it shopping or anything (even from week 1)
Better off buying a baby strap on carrier (like "baby bjorn" or a "baby k'tan") and a 0-4/0-8 years car seat. Would get so much more use out of both of them.
**My baby is now 7 months and have only just realised the capsule doesn't face forward. My average size 7 months old is also, almost too big for it (her legs hang out a lot and the straps are tight)

Difficult to use
I have had the same experience as Heather below. One strap always looser than the other - on closer inspection it appears one strap is installed differently by the manufacturer. An option would me is to try and twist it but this won't budge obviously because then it wouldn't be safe. Everyone finds it too heavy on its own to carry let alone with a 7kg five month old and growing. Same as Heathers review with the sun shade issue as just falls off all the time. Worst thing is that one strap is always looser as I am forever trying to find balance between too tight and too loose. Not worth the price tag - would rather have had a cheaper lighter one without the strap issue.

Great but fiddly anchor strap!
My 70 percentile for height and 10kg toddler is still below the height marker at 15.5 months old! Great investment! My only negative point would be the fiddly anchor strap. Never used another capsule though so maybe they're all similar?

absolutely perfect.
This is the greatest capsule. I used it with steelcraft profile stroller. And used with both babies. Incredible. First bub used it for around 7months but i had a big 10pound baby second and he grew out of it at 6months. But i wouldn't of wanted anything else.

Hated it.
I wanted to love this infant carrier. For the price, it should have been great. Instead, I found it poorly designed. The sunshade constantly popped off, and wouldn't raise/lower without dragging on the fabric of the car seat. The straps never pull out evenly and always snag underneath. I tighten the straps and end up with one too loose and one too tight. The straps also fit way too tightly across the baby's legs and always leave a mark on his skin. I think this is because the lower buckle doesn't come out far enough. The little elastic...Read more
holders for the metal buckles don't actually hold the buckles, they just slip right back out. The rubber tread on the underside popped out and broke. And I understand that all rear-facing capsules come with an anchorage strap that has to be added and removed every time the capsule is moved, but why is that? It is so inconvenient. My baby is 7 months now and has outgrown this capsule. So the "birth to 12 months" selling point is really only if you have a very small baby.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best ever capsule
My baby is nearly 9 months old and still has another strap height setting to go. My baby feels secure and sleeps straight away. It clicks straight onto my steel craft profile umbrella stroller with no attachments. I can fold/unfold stroller one handed and place capsule on in a jiffy. (My baby's feet touch the back seat now, but they are meant to, forward facing seats don't have foot rests either)
I recommend to everyone.
Another good feature is the capsule will rock id set on the floor. So if visiting someone or doctors visit etc and baby gets unsettled, just give it a gentle rock and baby settles again!
12 months use then straight to thinner forward facing seat, clicking straight onto stroller, rocking feature when on floor

Great product
Spent a long time researching before buying this capsule, weighing up pros and cons, and in the end was happy with my choice. Like all of the capsules I imagine, great idea, especially in those early months when the little one sleeps a lot he or she can be left in peace when moving in or out of the car. Ours always fell asleep in this capsule, sometimes on the way downstairs before I even put him in the car, it must have been very comfortable! We switched to a 0-4 car seat at 5 1/2 months for reasons unrelated to the capsule, there was still gr...Read more
owing room for maybe a couple of months. It was getting a bit heavy but then my son is 80th percentile for weight and 70th for height. I imagine for a smaller baby you could go to 9 or even 12 months. I never owned another capsule so can't compare the weight. Comfortable soft fabric with good padding, which is easily removable for washing - very important:-) It didn't feel polyester-ish like some other seats. The newborn insert started to pile a bit after 5 months though. I found it easy to move in and out of the car. Great that it's compatible with a lot of prams to make up a travel system. The hood helped a lot to protect from the sun, even if it was a bit fiddly and the arch came apart a few times. I thought that the straps were extremely easy to adjust (much easier than all other car seats I used) and had plenty of length. And I like that it's included in Britax crash exchange programme - something you hope you will never need but still helps if it comes to that. As some other reviews said, it was a bit wobbly in the car and the tether strap was a pain, but I guess it's the same with all the capsules. Reasonably priced, comfortable (I guess), compatible with many prams, fabric easily removable and washable, straps are very easy to adjust. A bit heavy but then never used other capsules so can't compare - and was ok to lift it a month after c-sectionSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Amazing product!
We love our unity! Easy to install and use. I read complaints of it being heavy but I actually found it to be lighter than my previous capsule. Very easy to remove from car. Bub is 5 1/2 months and still has plenty of room before reaching the height markers. Also read complaints of babies outgrowing because their feet hang over the edge however this does not mean they have outgrown it as kidsafe had advised carseats are designed to do that. Tether strap is a tad fiddly but most are and it certainly isn't a deal breaker if iy means not only keep...Read more

Hi Tamara, thanks for your question. The Bob Revolution Pro cannot take a Steelcraft Infant carrier and can only take a Safe-n-Sound Unity 2013 STD with Bob single adapters. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our consumer support team on 1300 303 330. Kind regards, the Britax Childcare team.
Can it take any model of the safe and sound capsule?
Support C.Britax Safe-n-Sound
Hi Tamara, The 2010 STD was compatible however you would have also required the Britax Click & Go adapters however we no longer manufacture this adapter. The Click & Go adapters now come inbuilt in the Safe-n-Sound Unity 2013STD.
