I find my throat gets dry and sore in the middle of the night since I started using the salin plus salt therapy. Why is this happening.
1 answer
Because I suffer from bacterial infections, I strongly believed the anti-bacterial effects of my Salin Plus would benefit my air-ways. After using Salin Plus next to my head for a first night, I suffered with unusual swelling inside my throat (my tonsils). The second night of my Salin Plus use resulted in both sides of my throat being swollen (feels like a lump in my throat). I also noticed increases in my other pre-existing bronchial discomfort and head ache. This prompted me to research the possible association of salt and allergic reactions.
I found that Sodium Chloride triggers the production of a type of immune cell that promotes allergies, possibly making people more susceptible to allergy-related ailments. In 2022 German researchers found that sodium chloride could be a promotor in allergic responses of the immune system. (They found that salt boosted TH2 cells, which are linked to the development of allergic diseases.)
Prof. Dr. Christina Zielinski of the Technical University of Munich said “we became interested in the question of whether salt can modulate the immune system. . . .” Zielinski and her colleagues conducted a study where they increased the levels of sodium chloride in tissue culture. The salt boosted the abundance of cytokines and transcription factors specific to Th2 cells, indicating that high salinity promotes Th2 cell differentiation. The researchers also found that the effects of the salt seemed to enhance Th2-related programs via two salt-sensitive transcription factors. (Th2 Cells play an important role in coordinating immune response.) “We were very surprised because . . . no one has ever considered sodium chloride to play a role,” says Zielinski. She suggested further investigation of the connection between salt and allergies.
I assume that anyone without a history of allergies would be less vulnerable to salt. However, I have long suffered from allergic reactions (especially Hay Fever which is an autoimmune disease). I think that Prof. Dr. Christina Zielinski’s work regarding the effects of salt on T-cells and Dermatitis (autoimmune disease) has potential implications for anyone with autoimmune diseases such as Asthma, Hay fever, Dermatitis and Eczema. This is especially interesting for Salin Plus users, since the above studies have linked salt on the surface of the skin (not salt diet) with these issues.
The National Asthma Council Australia says, “salt may irritate your airways.”

How do you know when the cartridge needs changing? Is there a time limit?
4 answers
It will be empty, the salt dissolves over about a year
Barry C.Salin Plus
The Salt Filter Cartridge will require changing approximately every 4 to 6 months, based on daily use of 8 to 10 hours.
Some customers know to change the filter when the effects they receive are lessened.
If this is not the case for you, once the large pieces of rock salt inside the filter have a smooth appearance, it is definitely time to change - at this point, the device is no longer able to disperse micro particles of salt.
have changed filter but doesnt seem to be dispersing any salt find no difference from old filter

Also. What salt is used and can I replace with the salt I want. Celtic. And Himalayan
No, u can't replace salt, only entire cartridge $50. The salt would be whatever is cheapest from factory in China. It would be difficult to return if not defective. It is a $5 computer case fan in a plastic box. Nothing to fail. Cost of production would be about $10 at a guess
