Great value
I bought this phone from Big W in Aug 2022 on sale for $446. Now that I'm used to it, I love it. It has all the usual Samsung galaxy features that I'm used to, including a great camera, good battery life, clear bright display and big screen size. I use many apps and they all run well. I only took one star off because my previous Samsung Galaxy note 3 had a blue flashing LED light to notify me I had a message so I could just look at the phone without having to open it up to check for missed messages. But overall, amazing value!

A good deal!
I got my hand on Samsung Galaxy A 50 last week while I was in Office Works. Got a good deal on it and got it immediately. I am very comfortable with the interface. This phone has some special features like language translation for any script. Quite useful in my profession.. A very happy customer!

Mixed feelings!
Samsung has delivered a phone without bloatware which is commendable. The performance is good, I have never had any issues with the computing power of the phone. The screen is very responsive.
Cons:
The camera is definitely not taking true colors. Images appear washed out as if there is a default filter.
The worst part of this phone is the fingerprint sensor. It never works on the first go, Samsung has delivered many updates but the problem persists.
I would not recommend this phone because of the fingerprint sensor

frame bent
I have similar experience with a new A50 in July. I had also a thin glass protector on the screen. Although I had not let any excessive force applied onto the phone, the glass protector showed a single hair crack across the middle of the screen, looking like the frame had been bent like in a back jean pocket(which would not have happened to mine as I use a shoulder pouch for it since day 1 and I never put any phone in my pocket including the most pocketable phones, always in a pouch). I was to claim warrantee, as I thought the screen had crack...Read more
ed across. so it is very likely that the frame was flexing easily to create pressure on the screen protector. Luckily for me the glass protector showed the sign of stress first. on the issue of faulty though, the rep actually told me that he found a dust sized defect on the screen when he put the protector on for me straight out of the box, even though I could not see it but he could. Not worrying me to claim a warrantee the first minute of using the A50. on the plus side, the battery is really good, usually last 1.5 day before running dry. the camera does return some very good photos and videos. the Livefocus is good fun to make photo with fake bokeh results. it is light too compared to similar sized phones.Purchased in July 2021 at Harvey Norman.

Good value but some significant issues
Pros: great screen, long battery life, fast, cheap
Cons: fingerprint sensor doesn't work, hard to hear other person on the phone, Bixby, Google Assistant only works when phone unlocked
First android phone after a decade of iPhones so will ignore OS as much as possible. Obviously not being able to clearly hear a phone call is a significant issue. I was a heavy user of Siri so miss being able to use voice commands when the phone is locked, however Google Assistant is amazing so would be hard to ever go back to Siri. Bixby is a waste of time as p...Read more
er 95% of reviews so would avoid Samsung in future if they don't give option of disabling this. Because the fingerprint sensor doesn't work, I can't effiently use Dashlane password manager - Dashlane doesn't accept the face ID as secure enough so I have to type Dashlane password in every time which is another major drawback for me - although this is partly Androids fault as Dashlane doesn't accept Android Face ID at the moment (Jan 2020) due to poor security. Having said all this, the phone is exceptional value, so whilst I regret purchasing it instead of a Pixel, if/when I do upgrade the cost will not hurt as much as if it was a flagship phone. As it is my first Android I wanted something cheaper to explore the different OS and it has done a solid job of letting me do that. I anticipate the Pixel 4a (when it's launched) as being the phone that will replace this one.Purchased in December 2021 at Harvey Norman Retail Stores - Electronics for A$500.00.

Very average camera
I have had samsungs for years and i am really disappointed with this purchase. I take a lot of close up macro style photography of plants and flowers and this camera performs appallingly. Takes ages to focus and often doesn't. So it's a useless camera to me.

Love the phone - pity its not a flawless design
This phone is excellent for those of us who snap pics of everything. I have had samsung phones all my life and this one was by far the most impressive. However - after having the phone for only 6 months the screen started flickering with green lines and within an hour it had died completely. After much research across various forums, I have discovered that the A50 has manufactoring issues with screens dying and the frames bending.
After returning my phone to samsung, who sent it off for repair under warranty, their repair centre now claim ...Read more
that i must pay a $200 Bill for repairs. They are somehow linking the dead screen with a bent frame, accusing me of being at fault and applying "excess force". The fact that the phone is faulty could be forgiven if samsung were happy to replace or repair the devices which this affects. However the fact that they are repeatedly accusing their customers of being at fault just makes me want to throw it all in and switch providers. It's criminal to sell a faulty product and charge the customer for the repair.Purchased in July 2021.

Unreliable, Constant Crashing
Samsung Brand New Mobile, started to crash 3 weeks after purchase Nov 12, 2022 and that continued despite factory default resets, and other resets. A booking was made with the closest Samsung Agent, first week New Year 2020. Mobile was totally unreliable, It did not work at all, so I had to buy another mobile, an Oppo AX7.
Finally a new update and reboot, was attempted Jan 2, 2020, and it was successful.
Overall, I would not recommend the Samsung A50, it caused me too much hassle and more expense of a back up mobile; infact I would never buy another Samsung Mobile of any type again.

Great, camera a bit dodge.
Have always been a S range person but decided the new S10 was out of my price range so chose this instead. Am really happy with my decision! I upgraded from a S7 so anything was an improvement but the A50 runs quickly and smoothly. The fingerprint ID is not great, takes awhile to work, but I do still have the plastic on the phone so that could be impacting it.
It fits perfectly in my hand and is comfortable to use.
I have found the camera lacking. Sometimes it takes the most amazing photos, other times they are blurry and dull. We think the focus doesn't always work very well in low lighting and that's the problem. I now work around that and have taken some beautiful shots.
All in all I am very happy and would recommend.

Good, but not great.
After 12 years with Apple I decided to switch to Samsung. I couldn't justify the high monthly bill when i use only the basic features of the phone. I told myself 'I just don't need that level of technology'. The camera is great, the layout was easier to learn that I had anticipated, and overall usability is not bad. A few little grievances but I expect that nothing is exactly how we would like it to be, so that's ok. However...

Sorry I chose it.
If you want a phone to make calls only then this is for you. If you want to do more forget it. It has trouble connecting to wifi, bluetooth and sends 2 messages when you text. The finger print and facial recognition works about 50% of the time at best. Moving through screens is difficult to shut etc. Touch screen is crap. Dont even bother with hey google or Bixby. Sorry I purchased this phone. Will be going back to apple next time.

Very Good for Price
This Samsung phone isn't as expensive as the current flagships phone but it certainly puts up a fight! I purchased this as an emergency phone when my Pixel 3 had broke. It exceeded my expectations, whilst I don't like the bloatware on Samsung's but it was very manageable. The phone is solidly built and the screen is great (standard with Samsung), even with the specs the OS makes sure the phone is smooth all the time. Very good phone and I gave it to my niece who has enjoyed it very much.

Excellent Value for Money
Now had this phone for several months and it has proven itself to be reliable and excellent value for money. Seems to have no trouble running aps and has now had a couple of updates from Samsung wich have installed without drama. Bluetooth connects to my vehicle and stays connected, unlike my previous phone. I use Android Auto with it and have had no problems at all. hots are OK, but not spectacular. Battery life is good, I get a full day with heavy use and a couple of days with moderate use. If turned off and charging, it is fast charging, but normal charging if the phone is turned on. Was a little concerned at the plastic body, but it is in a protective wallet and has a screen protector and does not seem to be an issue. All in all I think this phone is great value and I am not a Samsung fan.
