Hi everyone. Got one SI-200 from a friend who owned a cat. Warned me that the filters needed changing, which I promptly did. Problem I have is that the suction I cannot get away from min. Aside from that everything seems to be working. Cleared some fur balls from the hose and think I got it all.

This does indicate a blockage/air flow problem. Try using the blower function to clear hose, check all fittings for objects.

Where do I take my machine for a clean and service? I purchased from godfreys Indooroopilly but they have since closed down. I do not have any of the papers or recipes that I got when I purchased my machine. My machine has been great until very recently it won't power on. It kind of had the hiccups a couple of times and would flash on but then be off again. But now it simply won't turn on.

Ring the head office and they will advise. You have five year warranty. Unfortunately you have to drop off at your godfreys closet to you - maybe near Kenmore or somewhere? They have no courier service which I find not a really good service at all. Did you register it when you first bought it? If not - they should have a record somewhere. Did you pay by credit or cash. If credit get the date etc and provide that as proof of purchase. good luck. I have nothing but probs with mine.

Hi Elisia, I had the exact same thing happen and I took it into the store, they just replaced the filters and it worked fine. Something in the machine triggers it to not operate if the filters arent clean. Nice way to make you pay the expensive prices on the filters. Hope that helps.

Hi guys! Thanks for the info. I took it to the Ipswich store on a shopping trip and they sent it away under warranty as its apparently a common fault, the electronic board fails and machine ceases to work. But was fixed Under warranty and they serviced machine for free! Staff at the Ipswich store were very helpful. So will be dealing with them in future I think :)

What is the dBA noise level of a Sauber Intelligence?

1 answer

I don't know. The noise never seemed that bad to me. Noise isn't something I have a problem with the Sauber. It is soooooo heavy and cumbersome and hard to push - rendering it useless for me. Maybe it is just my chicken arms.

Hi, just purchased a demo model and the power head does not appear to be working. I have read the instructions and think I am operating it correctly. There is no red light or green light showing on the head and the brushes do not go around - definitely nut much suction happening. Certainly I can take it back but just in case its something simple I am asking here.

Check underneath for hair wrapped around the rollers. This is usually why the red light is on (supposedly, anyway). Although you have no red light appearing.
Also - disconnect everything, pull whatever bits apart you can, and retry at another power point.
Another thing - clog? Although you would have a light or something.
Is your bag in properly?
However - even after I cleaned mine out the powerhead still didn't work and it needed a service or something.
I guarantee you will have to take it back. Hopefully the guy you bought it from can sort out on site - otherwise you will have to send it away and wait 2 weeks.
I know....you want to try and fix yourself so you don't have to lug the beast back into the car. Maybe ring the sales guy if you need to for his advice over phone too.
Good luck.

Thank you, I have just taken beastie to the car and will be lugging it to the service agent!! Seems to be a fault in the electronic handle. I appreciate all your comments.

Hi Steph. Well if it has overheated you have to wait while it cools down.I guess you have done that.Check the bag make sure thats not full. And if it still won't go, you have to take it back to where you brought it and I hope the motor is not burnt.Good luck.

The powerhead of my Sauber si 200 was working fine but the rollers were full of hair, so cleaned the head, now when I turn it on it runs for 2-3 seconds and the red light comes on....can anyone help or is it back to the repair shop?

Im sorry you've had the 'hair' problem, with any vacuum cleaner I've ever owned, I cleared the hair after each vacuum with small nail scissors to snip the coiled hairs and a second or two to pull them out. You will need to take it back for servicing, over time, the hairs can sort of trip over each other and wind around the core roller at the very edges where the build up, this is a strain on the motor, which, is now alerting the need for service. Its probably not necessary to clear hair after every vacuum, its just something I do by habit after having a household where several of us had very long hair, and I sew almost every day, so I get threads around my roller too. Saucer is the best vacuum Ive ever used, it is well worth having the service done.

I recently bought the visualiser - and now I am having more frequent problems with the power head - I do not know if they are related. Within seconds of turning the powerhead on - the red light comes on and it stops. I have thoroughly clean the brush in the head. I am at a loss as to what else to do - there is no troubleshooting section in the manual which is very frustrating. This machine is less than 6 months old. Can someone please tell me what is going on with it?

Sounds like a coincidence unless you didn't install the visualiser correctly. Try disconnecting the visualiser and see if it keeps happening. I presume you have the Excellence SE-400.

Does anyone else have a problem with the smell coming from the vacuum? When I use it the smell of dust is horrible!

No, my husband once said he thought it was starting to smell but i have not noticed and suffer from allergy and it has been great. I don't vacumme up wet items but do food left on floor though. I do think that though the suction is not that great given the price now I've had it a few months. I have a high expectation of this vacumme though. I have to increase suction all the time.

cpl
cpl

I'd try taking the bag out and smelling the contents as you may have vacuumed up something smelly or damp. If that's not it remove the 2 filters and tap them on a firm surface then reinstall. Ensure that the machine is sealing correctly. Check that you don't have anything blocking the wands or hose. Please keep us updated I'd be interested in knowing what the problem was.

Has anyone else had this issue with the sauber intelligence? i am on my second suction hose, it regularly blocks up. the issue is the cable running down the inside of the suction hose, it seems to flop around inside, hair gets caught on it, rubbish builds up and eventually i have to take it up the shed to hook all the rubbish out. Why couldnt they run the cable down the outside, instead of causing an obstruction in the suction hose?

3 answers
Mikey
Mikey

I haven't had a problem once with blocking. I do have a TDA also known as a bag saver on my machine, this captures more than 99% of the dirt and the rest travels down the hose and into the machine. You may consider getting one of them at $50. Otherwise the Sauber comes with a 5 yr warranty. Go back to we're you bought it so they can send it off for a replacement. I do prefer the wiring on the inside of the hose as I had previously a Hoover hygiene with the cable to the power head was placed externally but it used to get caught up on everything until eventually the dog chewed on it and broke it hence the purchase of the Sauber being the only machine with a nylon based hose my dog even can't break. Hope this helps

adam bradley

Thanks Mikey for your swift response, you wouldn't by chance be one of the Sauber Intelligence representatives that monitor this page to quickly diffuse any negative feedback on your product? Took the hose back in to godfreys today gave me another replacement hose. Had a good look down the inside of the new suction hose and the cable doesnt flop around like the old one. I am guessing it is secured to the inside with some sort of glue. Heres my suggestion for a fix, sleave the inside of the suction hose to prevent the cable from coming away from the side and causing an obstruction, or secure to the outside so it isn't an issue.

The machine gets used in a normal manner and this is the second hose replacement in 12 months of household use. It would be in Saubers best interest to fix this issue as it is costly for them to keep replacing hoses. i noticed that someone else on this page has posted the same complaint so it isn't an isolated instance.I Inquired about the tda or bag saver, godfreys said they aren't available at the moment and that a new design is in the pipeworks due to some issue with the pins on the last model. People generally don't bother to leave reviews unless they have something to gripe about. there are a lot of glowing reviews on this page i wonder how many are legitimate as when things are going well you generally don't hear about it. its a good machine, don't get me wrong. Apart from the cable continually coming away from the inside of the suction hose and causing the blockages.get some better glue.

What does this machine cost?

1 answer

My one ended up costing me a bit more because of the finance charges, but looking at my invoice it was $1599. Like I said in my review, it's a lot of money, but given that my mother has owned one for 38 years and that this is the easiest machine I have ever used it's worth every cent to me. I also have arthritis which means something as simple as vacuuming can be really painful sometimes, but I haven't felt that once using the Sauber.

if anything i would say, read everyone's comments :) only thing i had to say that was negative was that my girlfriend made comment it was a little weighty, for my self this is no issue, the auto suction control is great, (i would image if u had it on full suction you would complain it is to difficult to move (bare in mind it would be ripping the carpet off the floor the suction is that great.))

Make sure you get the 10 years free servicing with it. At the Prahran store they have me a free steam mop.

I have had one for about a year, works great. one major design fault, the cable that runs up the inside of the suction hose flops around and becomes an obstruction. hair gets caught on it then rubbish, next minute you have a blockage. i am on my second hose because of this issue and am having the same problem with the new hose.why they didn't run the cable on the outside is beyond me.

The sauber does have an attachment (which I think works with water but i would need to find out for certain) for cleaning floors, which is a few hundred dollars, but also it has the automatic head to clean floors dry.

wow reading all the feedback- looks like a great vacuum but it just shows how easy it is to get sucked in into buying somthing so expensive- would still consider getting one as i got sucked in also- but very skeptical after reading the bad reviews- has anyone even owned one long enough to c if it does last- or r we just all hoping that it will last for 20 yrs (after spending that much money)- so skeptical about the water issue n blowing the motor-& not being covered in warrantee
