Not worth the $$$$$
I found this dryer very complicated to use and the instruction manual was no help. It takes a long time to dry clothes and the water needs to be emptied frequently. I also have the same model washing machine which is even worse.
Purchased in January 2021.

A fantastic dryer let down by poor design and terrible service from agents
This dryer is fantastic when it works. I love that any item of clothing, including woollens can go into a condenser dryer. Cycle time is reasonable, a bit longer than a normal dryer but a lot more gentle on the clothes.
The problem is, the filter design does not stop lint getting into the condenser. Eventually the condenser will clog full of lint and the load times will slow down, losing any of the efficiency of the heat pump as you'll end up running the same load 2 or 3 times to get it dry.
This happened to us within 2 years of heavy use ...Read more

Update. Less than 3 months later and the fault has recurred.
Awaiting response from retailer for replacement request. Can not recommend this dryer to anyone. A self cleaning condenser that doesn’t self clean.

Great dryer - once you learn how to use it properly
I was hesitant about spending such a lot of money on a dryer. But having moved to an area where a dryer is a necessity not an option, I decided to take the plunge and upgraded from a cheap conventional dryer (which chewed power like there was no tomorrow), to this very energy efficient Siemens heat pump dryer.
The first week or two I was wondering if I'd done the right thing - it was huge (bigger than I thought) and nothing seemed to be drying properly. But I did think that it had to be 'operator error' as I was sure a German company lik...Read more
e Siemens couldn't get it so wrong. So I sat down and did some research - and found some similar reviews and within them, a reference to the fine adjustment under 'Options'. Light bulb moment which solved the damp washing problem. I also had to get used to the idea that the clothes feel 'different' coming out of this dryer than they did out of the old one - while they are actually dry they didn't feel dry, they felt 'cold'. So problem completely solved. I also found that it functions much better on bigger loads - so I've too become very efficient and tend to do one or two big loads a week instead of the smaller loads as I used to do. But if I do have a small load then it seems the dryer sensor has problems picking up only a few items - so I use a timed load for smaller or fewer items - all easy adjustments. So once I worked out that its quite a huge step up from the old $230 Hoover dryer I had for almost 20 years and you have to think a bit differently about this new technology, things started to fall into place. And once I learned to use it properly, I'm really happy with this dryer. It feels good knowing that I can use it when I need to, knowing its kinder on the environment and I don't have to worry about the dryer sending my power bills into the stratosphere. So overall, a great buy, very happy and I think this dryer will outlast me!1 comment

Auto sensor rarely dries clothes fully
Overall good and some very good points.
Huge dryer, takes a full load from the 11kg washing machine without any worries and very energy efficient. Laundry stays cool whilst running and lint remains in the drier rather than being
blown throughout the room.
Lots of options are available to use such as drying towels, bedding, mixed loads, woollens.
Minor complaint is that the dryer only tumbles in one direction, so large items such as bedding will twist and ball up and stay wet in the middle. So then you have to manually untwist and get the dr...Read more

Brilliant Dryer
This was a bit of a treat for us as we live in Melbourne where it seems like winter nine months of the year and drying clothes takes forever. The Germans know a thing or two about drying clothes in poor weather and this Siemens dryer certainly proves that point.
It has a huge capacity and can take a whole washing load without blinking. We love the sense drying. It means you don't have to guess about the run time and its amazingly efficient due to the heat pump. Its solidly built too and I hope we have this for years to come. Its not silent running though, there is a bit of noise as it goes.
Its an amazing quality dryer and a real treat in the laundry

Cannot Recommend this Appliance
I replaced my old trusty cheap dryer with this four times plus more expensive Siemens Dryer as we were looking for something that did not produce as much moisture and to put a stop to the rivulets of water dripping down the laundry walls when using our older vented model. From that aspect it definitely met our expectation however for an expensive dryer it is useless for drying sheets, doona covers etc. as they end up in a tight ball. Even with continual stopping of the dryer every 10 mins or so to unravel the sheet/doona, it quickly ends up ba...Read more
ck in a tight ball and the centre never gets dry. I have also returned the dryer under a warranty claim as it would 'clunk' often during a cycle. However we were informed by the agent that they found nothing wrong and as a consequence it could not be claimed under warranty and that we had to pay the service fee. Since being returned I have not heard the 'clunk' once. As I live in an area that has more rain than sunny days this has proven to be an expensive item that has not lived up to what one would expect from an expensive dryer and suggested high quality brand as recommended by the salesperson.Similar opinion? A must have
Excellent product, I highly recommend. Energy efficient and power consumption, perfect!!! Quite, easy to operate, and easy to look after. Yes its expensive, but again in the long run, you will be saving money! And not to forget German built, quality and design..... Its perfect for towels and sheets and everyday items. For me you can't go wrong. Its now just over a year since I bought this product, and I can say that my power bills have dropped.

Heat pump is so good and energy efficient
Great dryer - haven't had any problems with it since I've had it for a couple of months. The heat pump is so useful because it takes the water out and doesn't make everything so hot. The pre programmed modes are great and easy to understand. I didn't plug it into the plumbing which was so fine you just have to empty the drawer full of water after every wash.

Do you spend the extra and by a heat pump clothes dryer?
I was hesitant at first after reading a few negative reviews, but I can say after a couple of months using the Siemens WT47W580AU model, I'm very happy. Just make sure you regularly clean the filter and empty the water tray. If you have the opportunity, plumb the wateroverflow in directly.

Excellent heat pump dryer
Expensive yes but worth every cent for German built quality and design. Your average cycle takes about 90 minutes. It is very quiet and so energy efficient. Looks great stacked on my bathroom. What I like most is not having a steamy bathroom and having the condensed water drain away automatically.
Highly recommend E & S Trading on service and price.

Highly recommended
I bought this heat pump dryer in July which replaced a faulty heat pump dryer of another brand. And before that I had a tumble dryer for many years. So far I'm really happy with this dryer! It dries the clothes more gently than a tumble dryer and hasn't damaged any of my delicates. I haven't received an electricity bill yet but hopefully is a lot lower as I live in an apartment and use the dryer for most things. The machine has a 7 star energy rating compared to 2 stars on my tumble dryer. I do find that if I need to dry items individually the ...Read more
sensor doesn't recognise them and so I put single items on a timed warm cycle with no problems. I love the time remaining display and this adjusts as the cycle dries where necessary if the time changes. I usually use the x 2 extra drying time function (the little snowflakes) as I read other reviews recommending this and clothes come out perfectly dry. I haven't tried a cycle without this function yet so can't comment but the clothes don't seem to overdry.1 comment

Very happy with this dryer!
After reading seemingly endless reviews on here, many trips to stores and much internet research, I finally settled on this dryer after seeing an excellent deal on Appliances Online. I suspect its a soon to be replaced model.
I was terrified I would have the same issues many report of still-wet clothes - but this has not been an issue! And on the odd occasion where something needs more time - it's simple to set a cycle to a time you want and give it a bit more.
If you don't have a dryer at all - GET ONE! After only hanging clothes out t...Read more
o dry for the last 15 years (!) one wonders why we never got one sooner! It saves DAYS of time that it would otherwise take for clothes to be back in your cupboard, let alone all the tedious hanging out and taking back off etc, of clothes that are wrinkled and crispy and towels that feel like 60 grit sandpaper - NO MORE!!! Operation is dead easy - we generally select Cottons, and then press Start. Simple as that! I believe that is about a 2.5hr cycle. It has many more modes for different fabrics etc. Yes sheets do ball as it does not have a reverse spin motion, so that may be the only thing you won't put in it... You do need to empty out the water tank frequently but you can attach a drainage hose to your sink instead which i haven't quite gotten around to yet. The lint filter needs frequent attention to but its easy to clean. Our laundry is a small room so it does heat it up a little, marginally damp but this really just happens if the door is kept shut - not a big deal.1 comment

Love This Dryer!
Fabulous dryer, gentle on clothes, no shrinking, easy on your electricity bill (6-star energy rated). We've not even noticed it and we use it 3-4 times a week. Takes getting used to as it is a 'low heat' dryer, clothes can feel damp when finished. I just leave the door open for a bit after a cycle to let the humidity vent. My towels are the softest they have ever been. Due to our situation, mid reno it lives in our lounge room. This crazy awesome machine doesn't even get hot! We can run it whilst watching TV in Summer and no heat output at all!...Read more
I do love this dryer. I've even dried a silk shirt in it. Yes they are $$$ but for the 5 year warranty, electricity saving, gentleness on clothes, the sensor drying so you can leave it turn it on and leave the house - totally worth it! We bought it over a year ago now- no issues at all. Eventually it will be stacked on my Siemens front-loader in a laundry cupboard and I know it will be perfect in this unvented environment- no mould, no fluff, no need to build a vent in.1 comment

I changed my dryer recently. I used to have an ASKO model for 10 years. I bought this tumble dryer. It is much noisier than ASKO. This noise for Siemens is normal. I am very disappointed.
Bridget Masked
we have just installed this dryer but it is not actually "drying" our clothes. Is this normal?? I am used to items from dryers coming out dry enough to fold & put away but even when I select cupboard dry on my settings I am finding my laundry still feels damp.
1 answer
If cupboard dry isn't working you can try fine adjust, which will add time in various increments to the selected program. Or, what I usually do is select warm, then hit the plus on the "finish in" button and this will add time to the initial warm 20min cycle in 10min increments. This should get the clothes dry, but beware as the warm cycle has no sensor it can overheat your clothes! My go to is either 1.5hr or 2hr depending on weight in the dryer.
I've also noticed some of the selected programs like cottons will dry clothes pretty well if I've adjusted to cupboard dry and added fine adjust. Perhaps it works better with more weight? Who knows ...

Does it spin both ways during a cycle?

Hi Julie,
Thanks for your question regarding your Siemens WT47W580AU Dryer.
The drum oscillates one way, in a clockwise direction during a cycle.
The softWave paddles with textile care structure assist with reducing creasing.
If you have any future queries, please feel free to call us on 1300 167 425 to discuss further.
Regards, Siemens Home Australia.
Hello Julie,
The answer to your question is clockwise only, for me it still dose a great job for my washing!
Hope that helps
