my brand new oven
Firstly it is my first day with this oven but really it only has one wire rack to cook the food on
now I tried the shelf but found the food cooked on one shelf but not the other
so I had one cooked cake and one that was not as the shelf is too close to the one above with 2 cake tins in
Maybe all that storage underneath should have gone into the oven instead of storage?
but then im replacing an amazing old simpson oven for this one and I don't see how I will be able to fit a turkey and vegetables in at Christmas at the same time is I have difficulty with 2 normal 8 inch cake tins

No quicker to cook than cheaper brands
The electric hob (the hotplates) are not as quick to cook things as you might expect given the high wattage of two of the hotplates. These two hotplates have "extensions" (as Smeg calls them), for rapid heating and cooking of your food. Turned to maximum these hotplates are rated at 2200 watts each. The impression given is that it will, for example, boil water for your pasta more quickly. However it's actually slower ( I timed it) than my old 1800 watt hotplates which is a big disappointment considering the price the Smegs cost.

Is the circular function the regular fan bake? What is the turbo function for?

Rodney M.Smeg
Hi Tracy,
Thanks for your enquiry. As per the instruction manual, the Turbo function allows cooking
different foods on several levels extremely quickly and efficiently. Perfect for large
volumes that call for intense cooking. (For multiple-level cooking, we recommend
using the 2nd and 4th runners.)
Hope this helps

The ' turbo' or 'supercook' is basically the 'fan forced' or 'circular' function with the top and bottom elements on also. The instructions are here:

Thanks Rodney and Pat, just trying out my new oven and working out what to cook in circular as opposed to turbo

Does this oven have fan bake .whats cooling fan mean

Hi Lavina B,
Thank you for your enquiry. The oven does have fan bake along with other cooking functions. The cooling fan keeps the outside of the oven cool during cooking.
Hope this helps
