Massive oven that’s does the job
Great 90cm oven but does use a lot of energy and is incredibly hard to find extra trays for because of its width.
Have found a hot spot in the middle but it’s only a bit hotter so doesn’t effect cooking substantially.
Gas top is great with good coverage.
Easy to clean.

Great oven
Fabulous oven, after 5 years the only problem was the clock which when I registered the problem they asked if I needed the entire oven replaced.
I said no need the oven is in great order just the clock needs repair, That was replaced 18 months ago with no problems since.
I can honestly say it was a great purchase.

Expected better
Has been repaired once already, I expected better results and really it's just as good as my old Westinghouse. I personally would not spend the money on SMEG appliances. It looks great, cleans easily but this oven is no better than any other oven I've owned. Easy to clean is the only quality this oven has.

Easy to use
Great oven, only critism oven trays are a bit flimsy.but apart from that it was easy to instal (bottle gas )the rapid gas jet is almost as fast as using a microwave, the twin fan oven is dream to use after having a fan less oven it certainly a huge step up .highly recommend

Shattered Oven Glas
I have been happy with my oven up until today.
From cooking a roast in the oven the inside glass shattered!
The oven will be 3 years old in December!
Very disappointing particularly from a well known and reputable brand like SMEG! lets see how they deal with customer complaints!

Nice finish but fragile
Pros: easy to clean stainless steel, dials are good and finished well and the rack and dish supplied are well made as well
Cons: The front plate glass is quite weak and shatters once by accident, but the warranty covered it and things were all sorted
Overall:
8/10 but make sure to get the warranty.

Large oven
Oven purchased October 2012, within a few months I noticed a lot of hot air was escaping from the door. It was still under warranty so had it serviced to replace one of the door hinges as door wasn't a tight shut. Then more recently my sister purchased a smeg and I noticed how strong the close was on her oven door. As the oven was now out of warranty we had to pay for replacement of the second hinge. Now I notice how much quicker the oven heats and I don't have to have it set above 200 degrees C. Quite disappointed as I thought smeg was a better quality product, and this was why I purchased. You can't always rely on a 'quality' brand name.

Love my Smeg.
We had a Smeg in our rental for 10 years and it was great. So when we bought our new house we looked seriously at other brands but again ended up buying a Smeg and I love it.
It cooks perfectly, is easy to use, cleans up so well and looks great in my kitchen.
But something they need to highlight in the showroom which would have made made me reach my decision so much faster is the cool-touch glass. With small children around this is so important and so great.
It was actually delivered and had a big dent on the splash-back bar, Bing Lee were great, but Smeg's service was wonderful, no questions asked they couriered out a replacement piece and were lovely to deal with which is valuable in itself.

Sad Smeg
Our smeg of 10 years died, we loved it so replaced it with another smeg. Unfortunately we have had nothing but trouble with the stove element. Igniting but not staying alight. Having purchased from Harvey Norman canberra, we have had the stove services 3 times in two months. Harvey Norman told us to not use the element and use the other four instead!!!! Not very happy. Now wanting to return and change suppliers all together. Sorry Smeg

DISAPPOINTED :-(
We purchased this oven in 2013 and have experienced constant issues. The element was replaced and the wok gas outlet fixed as it would not ignite. The oven does not cook evenly the top element is ineffective for grilling, the digital timer is not working which means no oven, the wok burner no longer works and the gas outlets can be temperamental. Do not recommend..

Good oven choice for its pruce
We had a new kitchen installed and chose this over as part of a package. It works well and is easy to use. It has a good range of cooking features and an excellent fan force oven that cooks all food evenly and heats up in no time. Recommended for its price too

Disappointed
I love to cook and bake so when my old cooker died I decided to get the Smeg. Big big mistake! The oven takes forever to cook anything so I can't bake any delicate cakes or biscuits. The top burners struggle to boil water so my once beautiful meals are a real hit and miss now.
We purchased through Good Guys who arranged for a Smeg tech to come and test both the gas top and electric oven. His verdict? It is in perfect working order. Really? Even though it doesn't cook? I wish I had bought the Italian cooker and gone with my gut. I am...Read more
stuck with pretty much a useless cooker and can't really afford to replace it as this one sucked the life out of our bank account. I really don't know how Smeg got this great name....it's an expensive very under par appliance. My opinion....walk past Smeg and keep looking.3 comments

justed the gas flow to my upper burners. Well.....I can now say that I can use my cook top with confidence and water comes to the boil quickly and stays hot where before it was a huge struggle to even get it to the boil. Yesterday I baked a cake in 25 minutes where previously the same cake would take around 40 minutes and it was evenly cooked. I am yet to make my macarons which will be the absolute decider but to be fair it seems my cooker is now working to my satisfaction. Thank you Smeg for acting on my dissatisfaction and fixing the problem in a quick and professional manner. I am now a satisfied Smeg owner!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Just an oven
It really is just an old fashioned oven with no bells or whistles. Sure it's big, but doesn't do anything special, doesn't even have a self cleaning function. The oven seems to take a long time to cook anything and you need to allow extra time than a recipe calls for. The gas jets on the stove are really hard to get alight and very frustrating. It was already in my new house when I bought it so I didn't get to choose and I was expecting something more.

The digital display stopped working after 6 months
You pay a premium for this brand however the digital display buggers up after 6 months and this is what runs the oven. I am not alone as I know many people with the same oven and all have the same problem. Smeg must or does know about the dodgy display but remains very silent.

Glass shattered when we opened door
My parents brought us this six months ago, it was delivered to their house (which we have just brought from them) via Harvey Norman, it has been in storage until a couple of months ago when my son in law and a mate carried it upstairs into the kitchen. The kitchen is waiting to be renovated, the oven hasn't even been used yet. Partner opened oven door to checkout the inside, closed the door and the front glass on the door shattered. Rang Harvey Norman, was told someone would be in touch, that was a few days ago. Had to ring back and was told s...Read more
omeone from Smeg would be in touch. We moved into the house this week, seven kids and nowhere to cook. very disappointed! When looking for the receipt, the note on it says 'sold to customer of the floor, with large dent on the lower back, won't affect use' maybe whatever caused the dent, also caused a weak spot, I'm no expert but I hope Smeg and Harvey Norman come to some agreement.3 comments

Problematic
The first month I had to replace the timer. I am an electrician and had to pay someone to do it under warranty.
The timer lasted until warranty just ran out and packed it in again. I replaced it myself.
I have replaced the thermostat twice in the past 12 months.
Now last night the ring element wont turn off even when all the switches are turned off. Lucky I noticed it burning red hot before I went to bed and switched it off at the switchboard or could have woken up to a house on fire.
Not impressed one bit with this oven

Service and oven temperature issue
Hi I have booked a service call for my cooker as it seems to be taking a long time to heat the oven up to the desired temperature. I have tested the oven and found out the following: FAN OFF it took from 11:00am to 11:29am to reach 260C and FAN ON from 12:08 to 12:58 to reach the temperature of 220c. During that FAN ON period the heating was static for two of those periods on 200c (checked temperature ever 10 minutes).
Smeg I want to know what is wrong with my oven? How long should it take to reach a desired temperature? With the FAN ON ...Read more
it took nearly 1 hour to reach a temperature of 220C. I need an answer urgently as I need to advise service so that when the repairer comes he has the right parts to repair my oven. Service call - why does it take approximately 25 days to wait for a service call? This is way too long I'm afraid. I think that you need to provide a better service for your customers especially if you want us to buy SMEG products. Having said all this I do love my SMEG cooker and I just want it fixed! it wasn't a cheap cooker! If required I can provide proof of purchase.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Not happy
Just picked up c91gmxat1 from Harvey Norman fyshwick after waiting 45 minutes for them to find it, u get it home and install it and the oven does not work at all. There is power to the unit fine as the cook top electric ignition is working. I have had no oven for a week and was told that it would possibly be another week before one could be here. If they can get in touch with someone. I have 4 year old Westinghouse oven that has had the elements replaced 4 times and just wanted a oven that wouldn't let me down. At $3k plus I am not happy at all and don't won't it fixed would like a complete new unit as my last oven started the same way and if this happens again with this oven I may just explode.

The clock panel on my Smeg Oven C9GMXA is flashing and I cannot operate the oven. Stove is working fine (it’s gas). Any ideas on how to fix without getting someone out?

Lesley R.Smeg
Hi Ros
The oven will not work if the clock is flashing, to stop it from flashing push in buttons two and three at the same time, this will stop the flashing and then by pressing the plus or minus button you can set the time.
Thanks Lesley. I’ve come across that issue before and have been able to fix it as you described. The problem I am experiencing now is different- it’s a quicker flash and not able to be fixed by pushing the buttons. I’ve also tried turning on and off at the mains. Any more help would be greatly appreciated!
