Cooks beautifully, great quality
Finally an oven that does what it is supposed to! I have found it easy to use, cooks very evenly and everything comes out looking like the photo in the recipe book. Very solid, can fit lots of items in it and looks great. Stove top has a good range of different sized burners. Love it.
Looks great, cooks great!
A tad on the expensive side.

love it!!!!
This 90cm Freestand oven is huge, it looks great and Smeg is a good brand this one also comes with a tepanyaki plate, which i also loved the idea of, i like it as i can be cooking something on the stove top that contains gluten and also gluten free and if anything boils over there is no chance of it bubbling in to each other as the size of the oven top, this would look great in any home :)
looks great....

Love it too!!!!!
I waited so long for an oven and stove top I think I would've been happy with anything that was installed. But this 900mm is really the best oven and cooktop. It looks fantastic - industrial without being too bulky. One of the sales assistants in a couple of stores tried to sell me the ridiculously overpriced and ugly Falcon cooker. But this is truly the better buy. The stylish knobs and easy to clean oven (there's no grates on the side, so cleaning is so easy - you just wipe over the sides, rather than in and around steel bars, etc. I've done ...Read more
that before and it's not fun. If you want a 900mm freestanding (we've built ours in with a kick in front) oven and cooktop, you really can't go past the SMEG. Oh! And the other important thing - it cooks really evenly - I've baked cakes, pizzas, stews, etc and they've all been great. No turning! Stylish design; price; easy to clean; cooks evenly.

Thanks for the update....I'm considering between smeg and ilve and just can't decide.......
I'm starting to hate this stove. We've just had the clock go again... meaning, no oven (as it works only via the clock). If the service finally gets done (he didn't arrive today - no phone call, despi... Read more
te my two phone calls to them) this will be the fourth clock I've had replaced in under two years. Definitely WOULD NOT BUY THIS COOKER AGAIN.

Find out how Smeg C9GM Series compares to other Freestanding Ovens
Know better, choose better.
Love my oven
I bought this brand as I have heard from others that Smeg was a great brand. I have now had this oven for 1 month and love it. The oven heats up quite quickly and the temperature is quite accurate (my previous oven not smeg used to burn everything!) The 6 burners are gas and work well with different sizes including wok burner which I haven't used yet. THe only issue which is not Smeg issue but any stainless steel appliance you have to be careful how you keep clean...so far I have just used hot water and a chux. Highly recommend this oven. I did get an extended warranty for a total of 5 years - just in case.
Works well, quick to heat and looks great.
Keeping clean the top - all stainless steel is difficult.

I've read a few comments about the difficulty of keeping stainless steel clean. If you use "Steel Kleen" ( got it at Harvey Norman years ago) or a similar product available at Woolworths/Coles you shouldn't have any problems
WD40 is great too to keep stainles steel clean!
The best and cheapest product to clean s/steel is glass window cleaner

Can't Complain! Works really well...
After many years working with an old stove, this new one is much better! I researched before buying and bought this one as it consistently rated well and am pleased with the result. Heats fast (good for baking), looks good, and no real problems. Yay! Been used by all family and gets nod of approval from all - I would definitely recommend...
Heats well, looks good.
expensive, needs regular cleaning due to stainless steele.

Lives up to its reputation
We purchased this as part of a complete kitchen rebuild. The unit itself is solid and the parts and components feel well engineered. For a large size oven the time taken to heat up is relatively short. Little to no problem with the gas cooktop. Considered models that have a long central burner for cooking fish etc, though couldn't see the practicality for the few times we would use it. Whilst the oven came with a rotisserie, to date this has been unused and may not be as the roasts we've cooked have been great (using a roasting dish). I di...Read more
d find the user manual a little short on describing the appropriate oven setting for various items, i.e. bottom element only, top and bottom, top/bottom and fan. As with any and all stainless products cleaning will always be an issue and this is no different. Be sure to choose your cleaning products wisely as stainless will scratch easily. Despite not having triple glazing the oven door Temp. does not get extremely hot at standard cooking Temp (180), a consideration for us with an infant. Works well, built well and does what it should Not the cheapest unit going around4 comments
Hi husky2blue. Wondering how much you paid for this at Harvey Norman. Renovating at the moment, and trying to stick to budget even though it never works that way.
Thanks.
Don't get it from Harvey Norman. Try the Good Guys. If you do go to Harvey Norman make sure you don't pay a cent until you get the product. We paid a lot of money for a number of appliances, the franc... Read more
hise changed legal entity, and then claimed that we were dealing with a different company and refused to give us our money back! I even got a letter from their legal dept admitting that they had our money, admitting that we never got the products, and then basically said "tough luck". Who's got the money to fight them in court to get it back? Be warned - a franchise owner can change and still trade as the ame Harvey Norman retail outlet and you wouldn't know.Hi Renovating, we paid Approx $2,897 at the time. We didnt bother about any store offered extended warranty given the quality of the product. Agree about the budget, we went over, however without an... Read more

Only works until warranty is over.
Built a new home and fitted it out with all smeg appliances. Let me tell you. When they work, they work well but it seems they all have a life expectancy of 5 years. I have had to replace and fix every smeg appliance in my home. It has cost me an absolute fortune.
I will never buy another smeg appliance again.
Like I said. When they work, they work very well, but after 5 years you might as well throw it away.
I can't believe that every smeg appliance I put in my home have had continuous problems after warranty.
Expensive to repair and hard to find spare parts.

Something Special
Looks fabulous. Cooks to perfection. Have cooked pastries and cakes on different shelves at the same time all turned out perfect. Can honestly say I have never had an oven that makes such a difference to the way food is cooked. Easy to clean and quiet to use. Automatic function is easy to use and works a treat.
Love this oven

The clock panel on my Smeg Oven C9GMXA is flashing and I cannot operate the oven. Stove is working fine (it’s gas). Any ideas on how to fix without getting someone out?

Lesley R.Smeg
Hi Ros
The oven will not work if the clock is flashing, to stop it from flashing push in buttons two and three at the same time, this will stop the flashing and then by pressing the plus or minus button you can set the time.
Thanks Lesley. I’ve come across that issue before and have been able to fix it as you described. The problem I am experiencing now is different- it’s a quicker flash and not able to be fixed by pushing the buttons. I’ve also tried turning on and off at the mains. Any more help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, we recently moved into a home that has a 90cm smeg oven and I was wondering how long time-wise it should take to heat up to 200 degrees. thank you.

Hi all
I have the above oven. It heats fine with just the elements. When i use either fan option the heat decreases and wont heat back up.
Has anyone seen this problem?

Hi Anthony T It sounds like the fan elements need to be replaced, please call Smeg service on 02 8667 4833 to arrange a service.
