Love this toaster. Bought it to replace a breville we’d had for 20 years so we could get a more attractive toaster to match our smeg kettle and one that fit longer pieces of bread.
It toasts evenly. Looks great and it’s Easy to operate. Love it.

We use this toaster for sourdough, soy and linseed, crumpets and english muffins!
With the defrost setting our toast comes out amazing! Easy settings to get the right amount of 'golden' on our toast.
We haven't had any piece of bread get stuck or jammed - so awesome!

I bought this last week as I loved the retro look that goes well in my period house..unfortunately it toasts unevenly; anything above 2 burns the bread, and the pop is so strong the toast get thrown on to the floor or cupboard - leaving lots of crumbs around the place to attract roaches.. It gets very very hot and is dangerous around children. I paid $200 for this and am bitterly disappointed.

I brought both the cream toaster and kettle . They look beautiful on your kitchen bench .
Unfortunately this replacement also has now blew a fuse . Really disheartening as I thought I was paying more for a A+ product

While the toaster looks great, that's about it's only redeeming quality. The toaster worked for a few months (although the toast did always shoot out of the toaster onto the bench), but then the lever would not stay in the down position for long.
Now it won't stay down at all and I have to manually hold it down if I want to toast anything. Very disappointed as I wanted a SMEG toaster for so long and it has performed so poorly.

I use this toaster for my homemade sourdough, the long slots are perfect for non-standard bread sizes. The toaster works well, even toasting on both sides, though if I cut my bread a little thin or does tend to launch out of the toaster a bit. It's only made it to the bench once so far, but I can see some people wouldn't like that.

The only downside really is that there is no lift function for the finished toast, this hasn't been a problem for me really but if I had crumpets or something smaller I might have to go digging. Or they might fly clean out, perhaps this is a hidden functionality and not a fault!

I was brought both the kettle and toaster for my birthday, the toaster is 19 months old, so, no longer under warranty and it keeps tripping the safety switch. It’s only ever been lightly used and to be honest, it’s never been that great, sometimes it burnt the toast, sometimes it would not toast enough even though it was on exactly the same number setting, I’ve owned $30 toasters that have performed much better and lasted longer. After reading the reviews, this seems to be a common fault, if only I researched beforehand, I would have steered well clear from this toaster. It certainly looks the part, but the quality is rubbish!!

This is the second Smeg toaster I’ve had in under three years . The first one lasted less than a year and the second one I’ve just thrown out after less than two years . Smeg replaced the first and I recently emailed them, no reply, to let them know the same thing, tripping the safety switch, happened to the second one . We also have a Smeg kettle which is now starting to leak under the water level window, again we’ve had it under three years. As I said to Smeg Australia, I wonder if this would be happening if they were still Made in Italy. Smeg used to have a really good name and now you get inferior quality for the same high price. Simply replacing appliances just causes toxic landfill . They should be made to last at least 5 years .

This toaster was purchased less than a year ago, and from day one has always had issues. Firstly, it only toasts ONE side of the bread; meaning I have to manually flip it so it will toast evenly. That is not okay for such an expensive toaster. The final straw was today when I noticed something smelled like smoke/electrical fire in the kitchen.. I run to the kitchen to find that the toaster was smoking and it looked as though the coil inside had caught flame. I quickly unplugged it and will definitely not be turning it back on. This is a fire hazard and could have easily caused a house fire. I have attached a photo to show you the damage it has caused to the outside. CAUTION TO ALL! Emailed them but have yet to hear a response...

This is such a great looking toaster but sadly that is now all that is good about it. I also loved the long toasting slots. Unfortunately after only 1 year and 8 months of using it no more than twice a week, the middle panel has now died and the outer panels barely toast the bread. Smeg, after paying $160 for a toaster to only last 20 months is really disappointing.

It only toast on one side the outer part of the toaster. Inside does not get hot. I just returned one and waited 2 weeks for the new one. Old one was less than 2 months old and never worked. I already sent an email to you. I love all the other Smeg Items I own . But this one???

I purchased the Smeg toaster presuming for the price it would toast perfectly. It has only ever toasted one side, you have to turn it around during toasting to get it even. I think for the price you would expect it to be perfect every time. I have bought cheaper brands before and have had more success.

We bought the 2-slice version and it lasted just over a year before the internal heaters stopped working. The new 4-slice bought in April 2017 stopped working after less than a month of use. While these toasters look fantastic, they are clearly not built to last. Particularly disappointing at their price point.

This is the worst toaster we have ever had. You would think with a price tag of almost $200 it would be great but we have had nothing but problems. Have had it about 6 months and its awful. Never consistent with the browning - you can put the bread in in one instance on level 3, and have it toast a tiny bit one day - and the next day same toast same setting and its burnt. Its a bit like a surprise really - you never know how the toast is going to come out even though you use the same setting. Another thing that has just occurred in the last couple of days is the cancel button doesn't do anything anymore - have to turn it off at the power point to get the toast to pop up when you want it to stop. Very disappointing.
