As with other reviews, my toaster is less than 2 years old and is used no more than 4 times in week yet has failed. I was seduced by the look but dumbfounded at it's lack of durability
Purchased in June 2021 at David Jones.

Terrible Product - Beware of Sparks
Less than 2 years old and this toaster will be going to the tip. Agree with other reviews in that Smeg may make products that look good but performance is way below par. The toast never browned evenly, no matter the setting and in terms of getting any half way decent browning I could walk around the house a dozen times before the toast popped up. The popping up motion itself became a bit of a sport - 9 times out of 10 the toast would be thrown out with force and it we weren't there to catch it like a grid iron player it would invariably land...Read more
on the floor. But the most disturbing event occurred this week when the middle elements started sparking like fireworks with white sparks shooting everywhere. Suffice to say those elements no longer work and I suggest we were lucky not to be dealing with a toaster on fire. If not for the hefty $200 price tag I would not have put up with this toaster for so long, and with only the front and back elements working now anyway it's effectively both useless and worthless. And of course it's only a 12 month warranty rather than 24 months so I'm cutting my losses and will never be buying Smeg again.

My daughter purchased this red Smeg toaster for me as a Christmas gift. I was so happy with the design and the red colour. After barely a year, the thermostat appears to have failed and the toaster does not 'toast' properly. You need to warm it up first and then put the toast in and you may then get something acceptable. Given how expensive the Smeg brand is, I expected top quality and top performance. I am so disappointed not only for myself but for my daughter who thought she was giving me something special. I will not be purchasing, or recommending, Smeg appliances after this very disappointing experience.

Hello Gizelle,
There is a 12 month replacement warranty on this product. You can return it back to the store of purchase with a copy of your receipt and they will replace this product for you as it is still inside the warranty period.

Happy with this appliance !
I have had my Toaster for over a Year now and she is still going well and does not let me down I am Happy to report ... I use Gluten Free Bread and she does it well and I love when she tosses out the smaller pieces and they land on the plate ... (just a cute trick that amuses me) at least I don’t have to dig out the smaller breads like in the past the spring is great, I selfishly leave her on a high setting for my funky Breads and She copes with it all, ....Easy to keep clean, crumb tray is good .
Would recommend ...
